Wow, looks like they fixed everything that was wrong with the previous Polaris/ Polaris date. The old 38-hour power reserve was a deal killer. They upped that to 70 and also gave it a display back and increased the depth rating at the same time. I'd take this Polaris Mariner over a Rolex Submariner!
bought the same watch. got a JLC rubber strap and deployment buckle. great addition to the collection. its also discontinued. not a watch you see in the wild everyday.
Love this watch. Have the same watch Polaris date 70 hr/200 m/skeleton hand boutique edition just released which I like a little more without the extra text on the lacquered center deep blue dial. Doesn’t have a locking bezel but otherwise wonderful. If you’re not really going to dive it looks amazing.
I currently have the 300M version. What are your thoughts on the timing bezel on your Polaris? I think the ratchet screwed down lock is good, but that also prevents me from using it because of the screwed down feature. Does yours easily turn throughout the day? Also the Diving text really messes up the lacquered dial for me that I’m tempted to eventually replace this Mariner date with the new version.
I’ve just placed an order on the exact model, would love to hear your thoughts on the same. It was a tossup between the mariner and this, my only concern was around the timing bezel.
I love this watch and am saving up for it right now but I'm curious how Tim specifically pointed out the fonts on the date disk are the same as the dial when the 1 clearly has a serif on the date but 12 hour Arabic numeral do not. Not a big deal to me but strange nonetheless.
It looks enormous on your wrist, but then I realize that 16 cm is only like 6 1/4 in... So maybe it wouldn't look so bad for me. What's a good price for one of these in the used market?

I ask because I wouldn't be interested in a dive watch that you have to remove from your wrist merely in order to operate the dive bezel. Can anyone comment on this? I was really hoping Tim would demonstrate this in the video but he operated the bezel with the watch off his wrist.
Unless you're left-handed and wear your watch on your right wrist, it should not be an issue. Lots of watches--like IWC--have had internally rotating bezels for a long time.

Love JLC and this watch. Pin and sleeve bracelet leaves a lot to be desired though.
I swapped out the bracelet for the included rubber strap. Makes a world of difference!

They need to make the regular polaris with 70h power reserve. How does that have less than 50h but the date version has more

This blue version is a Polaris Mariner Date, the green is just a Polaris Date.
Will you be reviewing any tritium dial watches, ala Luminox, but by other makers?

If you wear the watch on your left hand, it's quite easy to operate with your fingers. Harder, if you wear it on your right wrist.
No issues adjusting the bezel on the wrist.
