The more I think about it, the more I think that "light speed" movements in anime is kinda whack. The only one I think did a pretty solid job is Mushoku Tensei (when Ghislain used the Sword of Light technique, light was distorted, the colors disappeared, and everything went silent for a moments. After a few moments, the color came back first, then the sound and the impact, everyone else around it heard the sound so loud that it made their ears rang for a while) Edit: I see some comments are arguing that this still isn't real light speed since light speed IRL would break everything. Allow me to clarify: I of course understand that nothing that break the law of physics can ever be realistically shown (since "breaking the law of physics" means it's already impossible to begin with), especially in anime. Haki does not work like that, the confusion exists because in the anime haki was initially poorly introduced and explained. Basically, haki is the manifestation of a user's will or spirit, it is not a skill or combat technique itself, all people in the world of One Piece have spirit but must learn to manifest it to use it in combat (the exception is the king's haki, which only those with great spirit or innate willpower can manifest). That's why haki is NOT above the powers of devil fruits, what happens is that when attacking with armor haki you not only essentially damage your rival but also damage their spirit (that's why users like the Logia or like Luffy takes damage when attacked with haki, because their invulnerability is only physical, not spiritual), and that is why when you use advanced observation haki you do not "see the future", but rather you see the intentions of your enemy because the spirit moves before . that the body (that's why Enel can't hit Luffy when his mind goes blank) that's why I think he won't be able to see all the atomic samurai attacks with the sun blade

Light in vacuum > light in air > light in water > light in crystals. The speed of light, c, is the upper limit but that does not mean that some light cannot be slower than it. Lightning is slower than photons of light. Just because you see the word "light" in there that does not mean it travels at the speed of light.
1 thing as well is that shanks can use armament haki to block attacks from his blindspots the same way zoro protected himself from kings explosion if hes caught off gaurd or surprised. You are good at getting info and scaling and relatively fair with your match ups. However .... you're downplaying one piece scaling because you are missing information. Luffy, shanks kiado etc aren't multi continental, they are much much higher. Remember in dressorsa luffy was wayyy stronger than Sai, who is stated to split the ice continent that is harder than steel. Just that alone shows that they are wayyy higher. Also, I don't know why the OPM light speed feats are controversial. Some of the statements aren't written in a way to sound like they are exaggerating.

The more I think about it, the more I think that "light speed" movements in anime is kinda whack.
The only one I think did a pretty solid job is Mushoku Tensei (when Ghislain used the Sword of Light technique, light was distorted, the colors disappeared, and everything went silent for a moments. After a few moments, the color came back first, then the sound and the impact, everyone else around it heard the sound so loud that it made their ears rang for a while)
Edit: I see some comments are arguing that this still isn't real light speed since light speed IRL would break everything. Allow me to clarify: I of course understand that nothing that break the law of physics can ever be realistically shown (since "breaking the law of physics" means it's already impossible to begin with), especially in anime. But it's like watching a video from the "What If" channel, it's fun and I like that the author and animators put more thoughts into it than minimum efforts.

Haki does not work like that, the confusion exists because in the anime haki was initially poorly introduced and explained. Basically, haki is the manifestation of a user's will or spirit, it is not a skill or combat technique itself, all people in the world of One Piece have spirit but must learn to manifest it to use it in combat (the exception is the king's haki, which only those with great spirit or innate willpower can manifest). That's why haki is NOT above the powers of devil fruits, what happens is that when attacking with armor haki you not only essentially damage your rival but also damage their spirit (that's why users like the Logia or like Luffy takes damage when attacked with haki, because their invulnerability is only physical, not spiritual), and that is why when you use advanced observation haki you do not "see the future", but rather you see the intentions of your enemy because the spirit moves before . that the body (that's why Enel can't hit Luffy when his mind goes blank) that's why I think he won't be able to see all the atomic samurai attacks with the sun blade

you made a mistake in your obs haki segment. there is a difference between intent sensing and seeing the future. obs haki users like shown in skypia can sense the intent of the opponent but thats not advanced obs haki which is actually seeing the future and haki CAN be above df fruit powers and it has been shown multiple times.

The only reason why people argue about this in the first place is "because the OP world is so vast, it only makes sense that the enemies would get this strong." and the little to no focus on that regard makes it seem more like a retcon of all things. No one can just "reach" light speed after a timeskip, let alone showcasing it with Kuma and Kizaru so horribly when others would literally spoonfeed you into accepting it.
"Oh, Kizaru has the light devil fruit. He also travels like light, so therefore he must be as fast as light. Right?", then you have works like Megamind's Metroman, Bleach's Ichigo vs Byakuya, hell even Quicksilver in the live adaptation of X-Men. Now, they're not highlighting light speed, perse, but more of the realm where speed is a comparison.
The only thing that could put more backing into that statement is when they use observation as the premise of it like Rudy vs Orsted in Mushoku, it shows how overwhelming your opponent can be when they're faster than your observation. Not just fanatics ratioing others based on their assumptions and calcs qoq "telling you" that Kizaru's is relative to light speed.
It's the same with Genos and Garou, because Genos fought a samurai bot that shoots lazers, "he's automatically light speed!" Or maybe it's his instincts that prevented him from getting killed. Other than the stupid and constant highlights of how fast a cockroach monster and Flashy Flash are. It's lame but it does a better job comparing and overwhelming other heroes. The only hope I can trust Kizaru's light speed feat is in the OP remake, I really hope they can find a way to make it the least bit believable.

He sent the Strawhats into other islands with one swipe, and realistically it should've killed all of them just from being forcibly thrown to the atmosphere. Light in vacuum > light in air > light in water > light in crystals. The speed of light, c, is the upper limit but that does not mean that some light cannot be slower than it. Lightning is slower than photons of light. Just because you see the word "light" in there that does not mean it travels at the speed of light.
1 thing as well is that shanks can use armament haki to block attacks from his blindspots the same way zoro protected himself from kings explosion if hes caught off gaurd or surprised. Plus shanks has acoc which functions like ryuo meaning his attacks may do internal damage therefore bypasssing your durability, o didnt see you mention this so Im just reminding you of this ability as well. good video overall. Flash and Atomic would decimate Shanks. They both out speed him by so much that if he use Observation Haki he would see that there is nothing he can do to stop them from killing him. Shanks is not on the same level. Observation Haki only works if they can focus on using it so Shanks can only use it once at the start of battle after that its not a factor. Sun Blade Atomic will cut through armament haki. OPM verse outscales OP. Evil Natural Ocean Solos the verse.

You are good at getting info and scaling and relatively fair with your match ups. However .... you're downplaying one piece scaling because you are missing information. Luffy, shanks kiado etc aren't multi continental, they are much much higher. Remember in dressorsa luffy was wayyy stronger than Sai, who is stated to split the ice continent that is harder than steel. Just that alone shows that they are wayyy higher.
Also, I don't know why the OPM light speed feats are controversial. Some of the statements aren't written in a way to sound like they are exaggerating.

Current Yamcha after training has surpassed DBZ Buu and has high enough power levels to level a solar system on a whim. Yamcha memes be getting too out of hand, to where ppl think he’s weak.
