  • Spent the 19th & 20th August 2023 at the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum in Lathalmond for their 28th Annual Open Weekend, and what a cracker it was too. I enjoyed it even more when I realised it had been 4 years since my last visit. How fast time passes.
A wonderful variety of buses on show and operating the internal service with a regular service between SVBM and Dunfermline bus station. There was also the Forth Bridges Tour and Mystery Tour on both days. The Shed 47 Railway Restoration Group were offering Brake Van rides, and on the narrow gauge line, Big Dave was in action. With so much to do and see, its difficult to cram it all into the weekend.
Many Thanks to all the Vehicle owners and the SVBM Volunteers for all the hard work in producing a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Thanks Andrei. A few things prevented me getting to a number of events lately. So I was really glad to get to the SVBM Open Weekend. Good to hear from you again.

I am over the moon that this video gave you a trip down memory lane. They made things to last in those days. I hope you manage to get to the museum, I'm pretty sure you would enjoy it.

My First time to your videos and this one was so special for many reasons. I lived in Dunfermline as a lad for around 6 years and it was a nostalgic reminder of great days in that city. Plus, seeing the range of Alexander bodied buses and coaches I recall so well, from my days living in other parts of Scotland, especially in Stirling, where several members of my older relatives lived, most of whom held Senior roles at Alexanders Bus Builders, in post WW2 years.
This was a great trip down Memory Lane and thank you so much. Maybe I'll travel North next year for the 2024 event.

I hope you had a great day. I couldn't make the event this year. It would have been nice to see Big Dave and the Sentinel waggon in steam.

I certainly did enjoy it. Sorry you couldnt make it this year. I think I enjoyed it even more having missed a few. Hopefully that will be the same for you when you get there next year.

Well done Tommy, another top quality video of a very impressive event. I would love to visit there, and maybe pandemics and rail strikes permitting, I will do one of these days. Seeing the Forth Bridge(s) is always cool, but you didn't say where the Mystery Tour went to, or is it a state secret? 😉

Thanks Alan, Glad you liked the video. It certainly was a great event and well worth a visit. The bridges are so impressive, Everytime I see them I'm amazed at the sheer size. I didnt say where the mystery tour went not because of any state secret :-) simply as I was too busy enjoying the trip and talking to a couple of guys I wasnt paying too much attention and before I knew it we were back at the Museum. How embarrassing is that.
