- Hey it’s me OOHYO. I named this song ‘Butter Chicken’ because I started working on it the day I made Butter Chicken Curry for the first time. But this song is not about the food, it’s about discovering meaning and joy in something that many people overlook the value of - something cliched, trivial, or even stupid. I think I experience this every day of my life. I believe we discover clarity and meaning when we’re ready to face the challenge alone, when we’re not afraid to leave the crowd and to think counter-culturally. This song, too, may be just another cliched product to some people, but I’m really grateful to share it with you. Thanks for listening to my music!

The reason why I love OOHYO so much is because she talks about trivial things. Dandelion, pizza, honey tea, butter chicken, school bus- all are trivial but she attaches meanings to them. She sings about how these trivial things can mean a lot, if we pay attention. Romanticising normal or trivial things is so beautiful. Being not so special or 'cliché' is okay as long as YOU find solace in it. Maybe what's cliché for you is special for someone else and vice versa. The key is just to enjoy little things.
You worded this in ways I have never been able to describe, and for that, I thank you.

나하나 나쁜 사람 안된다고 이 세상이 아름다워 지진 않어 그래도 난 착한 사람으로 남을래
해석할 필요 없이 그냥 너무나 공감 되는 가사고 이런 얘기를 하는 사람은 없었던 것 같아서 이 노래가 너무 소중함..
우효님은 제 인생의 일부를 차지하는 너무 중요한 분이에요 우울해서 가라앉을 때마다 우효님의 음악을 몇번이나 반복해서 들었는지 몰라요 정확히 언제부터인진 기억이 안나지민 고등학교 때 우효님을 알게 된 후에 어른이 된 지금까지도 계속 듣고 있어요
고2 음악시간에 자신이 좋아하는 가수 소개하는 시간이 있었는데, 그때 우효님의 청춘을 소개했던 기억이 나요. 아주 힘들었던 고3 어느날, 우효님의 곡을 들으며 늦은 밤에 육교를 걸어올라가 달을 보면서 생각에 잠겼던 일도.
뻔한 치킨을 처음 들었던 날도 기억나요. 이런 음악이 있을 수 있구나, 놀랐고 아무도 궁금해하지 않는 내 마음을 대변해주는 거 같아서 눈물이 났어요
우효님 앨범의 거의 모든 곡을 다 들었고 모두 마음 깊이 사랑해요. 언제쯤 저는 슬프지 않은 사람이 될 수 있을까요.
제가 선택하지 않은 것들, 제게 주어진 것들을 언제쯤 받아들이고 감사할 수 있을까요.

듣다보면 나도모르게 취하는 곡
가사가 재미있네요. 특히 대구로 이루어져 있으면서도 대조를 이루고 있는 [이 세상은 변하지 않아. 그리고 넌 뻔하지 않아], 그리고 2절 마무리의 [ 이 세상은 변하지 않아. 그리고 넌 뻔하지.] 두 개의 구절은 신기하게 들리는군요. 1절의 넌 뻔하지 않아 - 이건 다른 사람들과 넌 다르다 라는 의미이고, 2절의 그리고 넌 뻔하지 - 이건 넌 역시 여전히 다른 사람들과 다르다 라는 의미인데 가사는 정반대지만 같은 뜻이라는 게 흥미로워요.

도입부 멜로디부터가 그냥 작살이다. 강렬하면서도 신비하고 독특하고 몽환적인.. 그리고 노랫말이 참 인상적이다. 심오한 것 같으면서도 이상하게 와닿는다. 이런 장르는 처음이다. 한 동안 엄청 들을 것 같다.

가수님 아니 언니 독서실에서 방금 집 와서 유튜브 들어왔는데 딱 첫번째 추천 영상에 5분짜리 동영상이 있는 거 있죠 진짜 호들갑 떨면서 애들한테 먼저 주접 떨고 지금 듣고 있는데 진짜 미친 것 같아요 언니 곡들을 향한 제 마음이 정점을 찍은 것 같아요 이렇게 한 곡을 듣는 것만으로 심장이 떨릴 수가 없어요 예전에 청춘 처음 듣고 났을때 다음 앨범 나왔을때는 또 좋은 노래가 나와서 듣는 것만으로 그쳤는데 이번 앨범에 이렇게 기다려지는 걸 보니 다음 앨범부터도 전 기다리고 열광할 것 같아요 많이 좋아해요 또 감사해요 제가 힘들때 힘이 많이 돼요 그래서 항상 힘이 돼요

Just hearing the words butter chicken makes me shiver in disgust. It reminds me of an I guess childhood trauma lol. I was forced to eat cold buttery chicken at my aunt's with cold peas. At the time I also had a virus, but no one knew I had it yet. I remember while I was there I couldn't go throw up because someone was in the restroom taking a long shower so I curled up, holding my belly with one hand and the other covering my mouth, waiting for what felt like an eternity in the cold hallway. I remember shaking a lot. No one cared that I was sick. My own sister ignored me at the time. Being helpless and sick with no one to turn to for two days. It was horrible, but when I got home my sister that was with me got scolded and my other sister took care of me. I guess this just had quite a big impact on me when I was younger. Great song tho! It's nice to hear OOHYO's songs about the simplest of things that in some odd way have a big impact!
