  • Growing mint is easy and rewarding!
    Being a cold hardy perennial, mint will die back during the winter then reemerge the following spring. The roots are cold hardy down to zone 5 USDA cold hardiness zone.
    But be careful if you plant it in the ground. Mint can quickly become invasive as it spreads underground through it's rhizomes spreading out far beyond it's original location. In containers mint is easily controlled, and because they like plenty of moister, hugel pots are a great way to go!
    There are so many ways to use mint. It's an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. So throw it it your recipes. It makes a great calming cup of tea that can aid in digestion. Chop it into a salad. How about a mint chocolate smoothie, mint julep or mojito? At the very least it makes a great garnish next to any dish.
