    We had some bad neighbors moved next door, and we got scared, so we bought a security system and my husband promised he would set it up and then the bad neighbors went to jail so the system sat for 4 years. My husband said we didn't need it anymore, so I started watching a bunch of videos and none of them were helpful, but yours made sense. Thank you so much. You should be a teacher because you are a natural teacher.

    Wow this video is insanely helpful. I mean, there are few words to describe how precise this video is. Extremely helpful and to the point. Guy even has the decency to point you to different parts of the video to skip any parts you feel are not applicable to your circumstances.
    Pretty much EVERYTHING is covered - in the most basic and well communicated way. Very articulate and excellent communication. No question this guy has the communication skills to be a spokesman. Well presented! A+!

    Completely agree with the rest of people. This video is to the point, it does actually help and it was made buy knowledgable and professional person. My question is: "What brand or package would you recommend in general"? Or should we assume that ZMODO is it since you have it in your video. Thanks

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  7 років тому

      I tend to go with zmodo because it's a brand I've used before and have good experiences with their products so I trust them. Also because they are usually less expensive than other brands.
      I've tried more expensive brands like swann, night owl and you pay more but you don't get more. So with all things equal why pay more?
      With that said you can go with any brand you want really
      As for systems, I would lean towards ip cameras and nvr system, preferably with PoE. Prices on ip cameras nvr systems have come down so much, it's almost pointless to go with an analog cameras dvr system.
      Buy your system as a complete kit to save they most 💰.

    I really needed to see this video, a client wants me to install a surveillance system in his office and I'm a computer engineer, not audio or video technician, but it looks pretty easy and almost the same thing as a network installation. are there water proof ip cameras? he wants a couple of them out of his building. Great video, my friend. Sorry for my English.

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  9 років тому +1

      +Lt. Albert thanks Albert and your English seems fine to me. The setup is very straightforward, and yes the ip cameras are just like a network install. I don't know about waterproof surveillance cameras but many are outdoor rated and can withstand weather like ice snow and rain making them water resistant. All the cameras I've setup are outdoor cameras so they can withstand the elements even though I installed all of them indoors. But I'll be installing some outdoors soon

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  9 років тому +1

      +Lt. Albert also forgot to mention that the ip cameras install just like a network system if they have PoE. If they don't, you'll have to run an additional power cable with each camera.

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  7 років тому

      you can go through the attic but this video shows you that you don't have to. The office I installed it in didn't have an attic and just ran the cables along the walls. This is the easiest method but you can see the cables the whole way. But it would probably be better if you do run them through the attic for less clutter, also better looking if you run the cables in the wall

    Wowww! That was the best tutorial video I've ever watched. Straight to the point, very detailed, and very informative. I feel more confident now trying to tackle this project on my own, and hope I'm successful installing it this week. The only difference is mine is a Night Owl 8 channel AHD7-841 system, and I plan to try and run my wires behind the wall. Yikes! Thanks for giving me a starting point, and a boost of confidence!

      Thanks Rudy. This how to video applies to all dvr nvr systems. I've tried several brands including Night Owl (that was actually the previous brand DVR that I installed at this office before the owner decided to upgrade to a unit with more channels and cameras) and they all have the same functionality. You've tried one, you've tried them all. Only differences are cosmetic differences in their menu's but still have the same functionality.
      You'll do fine if you follow the steps in this video

    very Good presentation , however I have two questions if u can certify it.
    1. how long can the Ethernet cable run ?
    2. can NVR be a standalone, where it is not connected to another extenal network?

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  7 років тому

      thanks,
      1. Ethernet cables can do long runs but I'm not sure exactly what the limit is, you'll have to google that one. The most likely answer is you'll be fine unless you need extreme lengths
      2. depends on the NVR, if it has ethernet jacks on the back for each camera such as the NVR installed in this video then yes it will be standalone. If it does not have ethernet jacks for the cameras, then no it will not be a standalone system and it will require a router or network switch to act as a middle man between the cameras and the NVR.

    Excellent video very information I am a retired electric. You did a very good job explaining things for the DIY person. There so much that people don’t understand. My thank you for taking the time to explain everything as simple as you did. Sad to say but in today would the video camera is becoming a part of new home being built just as the door bell did years ago and the alarm did . Thank you for taking the time to make a great video to help others understand and how to use some of the old things you have around the house like the old computer monitor. As very seldom keep or monitored on just the brain and the dvr. Until we need to see if something happens be something is missing.
    Thank again. Viewer please check in the sound recording in your sate .

      If you have a means to connect directly for use as a monitor, yes. If not, only remote viewing via the bundled software

    It's better to add a new system to your old one (you'll get 4+8 cams), instead totally replacing it.

    Excellent video, very well explained everything, only needed the explanation of how to connect the audio in the cameras with Bnc

    • @ToolCraze
      @ToolCraze  7 років тому

      bnc only carries video signal, the audio cable is just a regular RCA cable connection like the ones found on old tv sets, pretty straight forward connection
