I love your videos! This video is about a year old, so I was wondering which scanning tool is your favorite now that you have used different ones :) Thanks!
Here's my take on these bar code scanners and on how much they will help you to find profitable merchandise. From my experience so far these scanners have helped me to avoid buying worthless stuff more than they've helped me to find profitable stuff. So far I've been scanning a lot of worthless stuff. Well this is good in the sense that as a result of using the scanner I didn't buy any of these worthless things. I think people need to realize that finding profitable items using these scanners won't be as easy as they are assuming. The worthless stuff seems to outnumber the profitable stuff out there. So be prepared to do a good amount of scanning before you run across some good finds.
CrowdPleeza GREAT comment!!!!!! Exactly right and so well said :) Less than a third of what I scan is actually something I would purchase. What about you?
EntrepreneurGirl I haven't kept up with the actual numbers but it just seems like the majority of items I've scanned since I started using my Amazon buyers app haven't been profitable(especially used books). I've only been using my app for about 3 months now so I still have some scanning to do :) Like I said it has at least kept me from wasting money on buying the wrong things. I guess people's experiences with these scanning apps are going to vary depending on what types of profitable items happen to be available in their particular area.
CrowdPleeza I use a hybrid approach when it comes to finding stuff. I don't just start scanning anything and everything in the store. Having scanned for a while there is a bunch of stuff I know I can auto skip scanning such as (anything to do with lance armstrong, bill cosby, old weight watchers books and certain books / types of books that pop up over and over again.) I think it is better to eye through stuff first. I think if you have done it for a while you can get an eye to notice stuff that looks almost new which means it is more recent which means that it has a probability of being worth more. Also it is better to eye through stuff first because then you can get stuff before someone else snatches it up. If it doesn't end up being worth anything well then just put it back on the shelf.
I used a bluetooth fob.W/ FBAScan(Aseller) with my new Galaxy S3 and its lighting fast. The nice thing is it populates in the menu box automatically. I go through a goodwill book section in a 1/3 of the time. I love the DataBase too because I don't always have a good signal.
Lol. To be honest I haven't been scanning much. Packing and shipping replenish ables like Crazy. Scan power has the best bang for your buck. That's what I signed up for. 39.00 a month. Great support and they just added a tracking feature that alerts you on price drops and gains on multiple channels for online arbitrage. FBA scan has the downloadable data base for no signal areas which I like. But I'm loyal to Chris Green. He designed ScanPower and the support system is priceless. That just me though. Mainly I use the Amazon app for toys and cross check the "Yes's with the scan power research tools. Hope it helps. Have a Merry Christmas with little to no returns. :-)
Hey EG, just found your videos a week ago and have been catching up on all your vids. Can we get an update in regard to what program you settled on? You might have addressed this already in a later video but I'm watching the them in chronological order :)
Hi.. Is there a ebay App which shows same as profit bandit including fees etc. I'm having tough time using Ebay App as it does not keep completed listings settings stored. each time I scan I need to refine the settings back to completed settings to check if item is selling or not.
Thanks tracy, for your videos. One of the problems i have with PROFIT BANDIT is when i scanned a poker book i have which cost 30 dollars new. The FBA was comparable to the new price. But under the NEW listing the cheapest NEW price was 60!!!! and the prices went even higher. I thought it was a glitch so i went to AMAZON and sure enough it seemed to be true. QUESTION!!! Whats happening here? Where a product in FBA and USED sections price is comparable to the new price but under NEW listing the price is crazy overpriced. Ever seen this?
+SPIKER 501 I have seen this, and sometimes it is because it is listed as "collectible" (for which only some sellers can sell in this category or sometimes its a glitch, or sometimes it is the new category. Obviously, try to list in the category that you can make the highest profit in and see if Amazon will let you :)
I'm a newbie and am getting frustrated with all these apps . I'm finding that 50% of the products I scan say product not found even some brand name stuff like Disney. Are these private labels that the scanner can't find? Do you pass up these deals or to a listing anyway. I have been using profit bandit and the amazon app. Same results
+Grover Sings I still use profit bandit and still think of switching to Scan Power.... yes, I'm happy with Profit Bandit for the money. Scan Power does way more, but also cost way more.
Hi....another great vid!!.....btw....is there not a scouting app for ebay like for FBA?....one that shows all the important info like profit bandit does for Amazon?....like ranking etc....so one can know if an item is worth the buy and will sell.
yohonamon For ebay, I use the ebay app. I keep the ebay, Amazon, and Profit Bandit apps on my phone home screen. You can change your search to show only the completed items (which shows you what they actually sold for in the past). I do not know other apps just for ebay, but there may be some?!?
Hello Entrepreneur girl, great and informative video. I am totally new and a virgin to retail arbitrage. I began doing research on the tools I need and how best to succeed on this and my search leaded me...errr I mean led me to you lol. Do you have a video on how you do the scanning and packing of your products? Thanks
Hi..Thanks very much for posting this video. I know that you made it a while ago… I'm trying to work out which scanner app to get for myself and like your information. I just came across Inventory Lab and they also have a clean looking app called "Scoutify" I haven't used any of these tools yet but it seems helpful to be able to use the app to upload the data into your Amazon Seller Central Account. I'd be interested to know if you have tried the Inventory Lab product. Cheers, Chris.
Hi Chris!!! Thanks for your communication. I have not tried Inventory Lab and haven't even heard of it. So thanks for bringing it to my attention so I can check it out. I currently use Profit Bandit and have been really happy. I might upgrade to Scanpower soon. I'm comfortable recommending both of these products. If you try out the other, keep me posted on what you think :)
Tracey, need some help. I just started with my FBA after watch almost all your videos. After my first two weeks I have $1700 in sales crazy good. I'm having 2 problems one getting my New Dymo 450 twin turbo to print my FBA labels. I got listlabelship but still no luck. 2nd trying to figure out what I sell when I sell it on my dash board on Amazon. Thanks for all your videos very helpful. Lastly should I get a scanner and pay Profit Bandit? Thanks
+Tony Anders Hi! The Dymo's can be tricky, but after listlabelship not working I am at a loss for what to tell you (I've never had that service not work?!?). I would call Dymo customer service. To see what you've sold, go to reports> transaction view. I love profit bandit and think it is worth the minimum fee. A scanner is not as necessary, really only if you are scanning a large quantity of items quickly (such as book sales).
HI Entrepeneur Girl from Utah, I wanted to check in and tell you I just sold my 1st item on fba, bought a used twice 12 cup coffee maker for $20.00 and sold it for $67.00. I am thinking about getting Profit Bandit but don't know if my phone is smart enough. Amazon app is not fast enough.
Scott!!! So glad you gave an update! Great sell. The data base apps are the fastest and the ones that don't need internet (like ScanPower), but unfortunately also the most expensive. Give me another update soon :)
Richard Sberlati I tried ScanPower for a free trial of 30 days and absolutely loved it. It's expensive and that it my only hesitation. Yet, if I could only choose one, and money was no option, ScanPower would probably be the one I would choose. If you do go this route, will you let me know how it works out for you?
Any update? I recently started watching your videos and I really appreciate the information and the business sense you bring to the table. I notice you using a fob in later videos. Are you still using Profit Bandit with an add-on scan fob or did you switch? Thank you again.
+davemiami I am still using Profit Bandit (less expensive and does a good job) and still considering ScanPower (does more but more expensive). I have a ScanFob 2006 Bluetooth handheld scanner.
just came across your videos...so great. how much were you selling a month before joining fba made sense to you? when looking up items, do you just look for x3 profit? or sales rank, etc? thanks.
Yuliya Goldenberg When looking up items, it is important to have a good scanning app like Profit Bandit or Neat O Scan which will calculate how much profit you will have in the item AFTER fees, which is really important. The sales rank is also important because it indicates how fast an item might sell; so a really high number could mean that item might sit in the warehouse awhile. I also look to see if I will be competing against Amazon in selling the item, how many other FBA sellers are there, and how many of the item are out there for sale? 3x the profit is a rule that I believe in, because less than that, you start to get in a narrow profit zone that only a more experienced seller can navigate. For example, I might buy a 2x profit margin item, but only if the sale rank is low, there aren't many items for sale, and I can buy a large quantity from the store... but you can see how other elements start to be included into that thought process... so I just use a x3 rule to keep it simple. Hope that helps :)
If i understand u correctly from one of your responses to another person.....are you saying to use profit bandit as well as the ebay app if you are only selling on ebay?.....I understood profit bandit to be for FBA only?.....did I misunderstand?....will profit bandit also help with retail arbitrage for ebay??....and how would that be?....sorry...im new...two months into ebay....def plan in doing FBA soon....made my first trip out yesterday for retail arbitrage....did ok....but having only ebay app was kinda frustrating as it seems to only tell me what an item sold for....and not anything else....am i missing something?.......man...i love your vids.. really has helped me ALOT...many many many thanks!!!!
Personally, I think the more info you have the better... whether it's ebay or amazon... so I believe Profit Bandit to be helpful in selling and understanding the item that you are trying to list. Profit Bandit only gives specific information (ranking, pricing, etc) for Amazon, but I am able to use that info in determining a listing price and demand for my item. However, the ebay app is all you need to list on ebay. Because I also sell on Amazon, it makes sense for me to pay for this app and use it for both. On the ebay app you can click search>enter the item name of what you are researching>refine>scroll down>buying format>click completed items to "ON"> and it will show you the past sold amounts which is helpful in determining starting price, too. Hope this helps!!!
I've recently scanned items around the house as you suggested and I'm a bit baffled by the huge profit discrepancy between Profit Bandit and the Amazon seller central scanner. Any advice?
While I have had this happen every blue moon, I've never had it happen frequently. Most scanning apps download the Amazon database information "real time" so this shouldn't be a huge concern... yet, it does happen sometimes.
Tracy, do you use RedLaser for Ebay. I'm not sure what you call the Ebay app that also lets you scan. Can you please tell me the correct way to look it up on Android. Thanks so much for all your help with Amazon and Ebay. :)
hi... i installed profit bandit clicked on the "skip" button at the part where they wanted credit card info. and it wont let me open the profit bandit app on my android phone. i tryed to go back to that part to enter in the info but its not there. how do i correct this problem?
No. It shows you what other people have it listed for (FBA, amazon, and private sellers) and it also shows you a break down of your fees. So you can enter in how much you paid for it and click on what price you will sell it for and it will show you your exact profit. Hope that helps!
+Julues Crowl You set your own price. Of course, you want to be competitively priced... but, you get to look at what's selling, how much is selling, who your competition is, what the rank is, etc... and make an educated decision :)
I was wondering about the books you send in, who sets those prices. Keep in mind I know Nothing!! about it. hahaha I trying to get Etsy store up and understand everything and so totally Dyslexic, I just need someone to say Do This ! Don't Do This...hahaha no really. You are fantastic EG, I've watched your Videos over and over, Thank you so so much.
+Julues Crowl Fellow sellers set their own prices and you are looking at current listings (therefore, current prices). Publishers set the price for new books, but for used ones it's up to the people selling their copy.
+Ace Equality hmmm.... you have to link the two accounts, I remember that... but, if you are having difficulty past that, you can call their customer service. I had to do that once and they were very helpful :)
Thanks, Tracy, very useful video. I just download Profit Bandit to my iPhone, after I signed in and selected marketplace, it asked me give authorize to use my amazon MWS account, is it right? safe? Thanks.
do amazon have a problem with letting profit bandit being able to access a persons seller account.apparently they require it before the sign up can be completed. would amazon think im trying to open a second seller account? (im in the uk- not sure if its the same for the usa)
Hello, I am new to Amazon FBA and I would like to know if do I get in trouble if I buy lets say 500 units of shoes with $2.00 from Alibaba with their logo on it then Ill sell it for 20 bucks on Amazon FBA? Again this is just example price. Do I get sued if for using their logo brand? Or can I ask them to take out the logo before sending it to me. Please help thanks.
Still new to this, I see videos where people are just scanning items saying $4 profit here $5 profit there etc. Question is, don't you have to input the purchase price of the item for every item you scan?
Devon Pack Yes, you will want to enter the price each time, unless you are places that you need to scan quickly (like a book sale) and the prices are all similar (at a book sale prices may range from $1-$3) and you don't want to look at your phone each time... just set to vibration or beep for you perimeters and have at it.
I too like the Aseller Tool features as you describe them. Only problem is I learned today from them that they do not provide data for Amazon.ca. [Canada] Too bad. Larry Cole
hey their just getting started with fba I bought video games all good rank about 700 of them I am in the uk got them for under 50 pence each if I am the lowest price I won't make money but I can compete in the top 3 to 5 positions will I still be able to make sales ?
When I first started I tried to beat prices and be the lowest. Now, I know that I can still sell my items while being in the top positions. DOesn't hurt to start high and then lower versus leaving money on the table. Surprisingly, I have sold quicker NOT being the lowest price. It's like people think there is something wrong with my item, or my item is cheap, if I am the lowest ?!?
Lol its a funny thing just sent in my shipment 7 days ago made 3 sales injus wanted to know after how msny order did you see sales start picking up or in what month I plan sending in week ship try to stick to a goal of 500 items to 1000 a month for 3 to 6 month and see If I have success I hope so it alot of money :)
The first month was a bust... but after more and more boxes started hitting the warehouse, I was making more and more money. I have not had an item not sale within the year, so I take this as a good indicator.
Hi Tracy. Do you know if any of these apps will work on a tablet rather than a smartphone. And also do they allow you to see data from other Amazon sites such as Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.es or are they only for Amazon.com?
Hi! I use Profit Bandit and it can be used on my tablet and phone. You will need internet, so make sure your tablet has access. I know profit bandit shows cost to ship to UK. I have no idea if it includes Amazon International.... excellent question!... looking online now and it doesn't seem to, but I'm not certain. Will have to check this one out :)
EntrepreneurGirl Very informative video. I went to Asellertool and saw a STD and a Pro version. The difference is that the Standard has limited live searches. It would be nice for them to show right up front what it is limited to or did I miss it? Can you see where the amount of limited searches allowed is listed?
I have also been introduced to another app for Amazon. It is Rank Informer. This is used in conjunction with Profit Band. You enter the rank into Rank Informer and it tells you if you should buy or not. I learned about this in a product I purchased on the net. It is called Easy Retail Jackpot by Paul James. It is a very laid out, well delivered course. And the guy is only 26 years old.
Things I don't know !! [How much time do you have?] I have wondered about THIS: when at a garage sale, flea market, thrift shop and looking at used items, where, usually/often there is no barcode... you say that you enter the product name into Profit Bandit and you get your rank score. That score, presumably would be for NEW items. So how do you price a USED item... which, mostly, would not be in the original packaging, I presume. HALF PRICE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. What pricing policy do YOU employ for USED goods. Larry Cole
Sorry I'm just now seeing this question. Profit Bandit gives you the rank and then these categories: FBA, New, Used, Collectible. So you can see the used price and even the condition (like new vs good or average).
I just read to get the profit bandit you need to have a professional account what if you don't have a professional count and you're just starting off with the basic one on Amazon
I use asellertool lite. It does not have a data base, and you do not have to have a professional account. It is 9.99 per month. When I finally switch to a professional account, I may switch to profit bandit.
Profit bandit is one of the least expensive options mthly ($9.99 vs. $39.99) when you are ready to step it up a little from the free Amazon app. If you are selling more than 40 items a month on Amazon, it would make financial sense for you to a professional account. If you are not to that level yet, I would just use the free Amazon app and place it on your smartphone :)
If they charge you monthly then it is not worth it. Because, your cost is increasing and your profit is shrinking. To make good profit margin then you have to increase the price of product which will make customers unhappy. Now when I compare the price on E bay and Amazon with local deal, it is almost the same. Online shopping only worth when you want to buy something which you don't get in your city or country. I did online shopping only twice and that is it. I love to go to my local store and see and hold the product in my hand and check and then buy it. If I don't like it I go back and return it.
+Robin Lee Thanks for adding your perspective. I love that we can all add our personal experiences and learn from each other. I am of the total opposite experience of you and my entire life is online (banking, working, shopping, etc). So depending on your perspective, I guess. Thanks for sharing.
There is a free ebay app that you can download onto your phone and use to scan or manually enter items to get an idea of what sililiar items are selling for on ebay. I would recommend upgrading to Profit Bandit if you are anything but a new seller. This is also in the app store on your phone. It will cost you a monthly subscription. Check it out at itunes.apple.com/us/app/profit-bandit/id472190829?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4. Once you are selling at a high level, there are programs such as Neat O Scan and Scan Power. All of these programs really are game changers. If you are only using the regular ebay app, I would encourage you to start using one of the others. Hope this helps!
neatOscan does have an Android and iPhone app. I tried the Android app and was very disappointed. It was buggy to the point of being unusable even if it was free, let alone $50 a month. I have a high end flagship phone (Nexus 5), so hardware wasn't the problem. You can read my review here. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neatoscan.neatopricer&hl=en I think the PDAs are probably more reliable, which is why people still buy and use them.
+jessyka power Yes, it is free and it is a great place to start!! But after awhile, you may search for an app that gives you more info, works off a live "real-time" database, or works with a hand fob scanner to save you time.... when you get to that point, these other make it worth the price they cost.
A little late to the party, but I wanted to say that this lady is very easy to understand and super helpful. So many of these people ramble on and brag - she is way ahead of the pack. Thanks a lot.

Have you tried ScanPower yet? I'm interested in knowing your thoughts before taking the plunge.
This was so helpful THANK YOU
Barbara DILLON DOYLE Thanks for the positive comments!
Thanks for the info. I will have to see if I can budget one of those in before too long. Scanning with my phone is pretty slow.
you are good at that nice job
just came across your videos...so great. how much were you selling a month before joining fba made sense to you? when looking up items, do you just look for x3 profit? or sales rank, etc?
Hope that helps :)
hey I heard a CHING 11:34 (lol) . Your awesome great info and encouraging thanks so much
lol. Thanks so much!!!!
Hello, thank you for the information. I had a question for Aseller App, for downloading database do I need to have a 30$plan?
Honestly. I don't know. It would be good to ask the company directly so I don't steer you wrong.
+Susan Blair Just go to the app store, and search ebay. There is an ebay app that you download, and it allows you to scan. It's from ebay.
hi... i installed profit bandit clicked on the "skip" button at the part where they wanted credit card info. and it wont let me open the profit bandit app on my android phone. i tryed to go back to that part to enter in the info but its not there. how do i correct this problem?
Great stuff
does profit bandit recommend to the user how much or what price you should list your products for?
No. It shows you what other people have it listed for (FBA, amazon, and private sellers) and it also shows you a break down of your fees. So you can enter in how much you paid for it and click on what price you will sell it for and it will show you your exact profit. Hope that helps!
Who sets the price for your things you send in for Amazon to sell? And the books too. Thank you so much Have a great Day E.G
How do I make this Profit Bandit work on my phone? I can't seem to figure out how to activate it or in other words authorize it. Thank you.
+Ace Equality hmmm.... you have to link the two accounts, I remember that... but, if you are having difficulty past that, you can call their customer service. I had to do that once and they were very helpful :)
How does ScanPower's "Lite" compare with Profit Bandit?
I love ScanPower and think the lite would be comparible. Don't think you can go wrong either way :)
Great info thanks!
Thanks, Diana!
Thanks, Tracy, very useful video. I just download Profit Bandit to my iPhone, after I signed in and selected marketplace, it asked me give authorize to use my amazon MWS account, is it right? safe? Thanks.
+kelly zhang Yes, that is right and safe. They have to link to each other. I did it with no worries :)
I just found this video, what are you using now?
Profit Bandit but switching to Inventory Lab
do amazon have a problem with letting profit bandit being able to access a persons seller account.apparently they require it before the sign up can be completed. would amazon think im trying to open a second seller account? (im in the uk- not sure if its the same for the usa)
+Christopher John No, you just enter in your account info to link the two so that PB can access and sync your info.
Hello,
I am new to Amazon FBA and I would like to know if do I get in trouble if I buy lets say 500 units of shoes with $2.00 from Alibaba with their logo on it then Ill sell it for 20 bucks on Amazon FBA? Again this is just example price. Do I get sued if for using their logo brand? Or can I ask them to take out the logo before sending it to me.
Please help thanks.
Still new to this, I see videos where people are just scanning items saying $4 profit here $5 profit there etc. Question is, don't you have to input the purchase price of the item for every item you scan?
I wonder the exact same thing k bob. Unless everything you are scanning is in a one price section, you must have to input the price each time.
What do you think about FBAScan app for scanning? Which is better?
+Chris Daniel I liked FBAScan, but ultimately went with ScanPower. Did you try any free trials?
I haven't tried any free trials as of yet, but, I really like the UI of the Price Bandit. I also like the make-up of FBAscan too.
what's the app by chris green ? ?
Andrew Alvis Scan Power .... www.scanpower.com/
I too like the Aseller Tool features as you describe them. Only problem is I learned today from them that they do not provide data for Amazon.ca. [Canada] Too bad.
Larry Cole
Good to know that Larry...
hey their just getting started with fba I bought video games all good rank about 700 of them I am in the uk got them for under 50 pence each if I am the lowest price I won't make money but I can compete in the top 3 to 5 positions will I still be able to make sales ?
Ok thanks feeling much more confident now thanks
EntrepreneurGirl Do you price your stuff in the middle of the other offers to sell in a year?
Can you see where the amount of limited searches allowed is listed?
to use profit bandit do you need a wireless scanner?
a meant Bluetooth scanner,sorry
Can you use the scanners with the amazon free app?
+Kiara Justice As of 2015, the Amazon Seller app did not support the use of bluetooth scanners.
thanks so much!
+Jodi W Welcome Jodi! Thanks for watching!
Isn't ASELLERTOOL only $10 a month for live lookups only .. and $20 more only if you want to download databases for off internet work??
+Joe Mezzanini It's $10 for lite and $30 for standard. Here's a link so you can choose which one you might need.
www.asellertool.com/pricing.html
dumb question , what is ( FBA) ...??? Thanks, love your Vid
+JACK WELLBORN Fullfillment By Amazon
is it still profitable to do FBA through amazon/ebay?
+K Swiss Amazon FBA is still profitable for me!! I keep learning and growing and making more each month.
Wow! great app. Did you become rich selling on Amazon and E bay? I mean rich not wealthy.
I wouldn't say rich, but "comfortable" :)
its not that bad. it's a tax write off.
Good point!
EntrepreneurGirl
You mentioned that you should "scan, scan, scan" Does this include items at garage sales, flea sales. etc
Larry Cole
I scan everything (even at garage sales) either by bar code or self entering title... unless it's so cheap I already know it's a steal :)
I will check both of those out. Thanks for sharing Larry!!
Things I don't know !! [How much time do you have?]
I have wondered about THIS: when at a garage sale, flea market, thrift shop and looking at used items, where, usually/often there is no barcode... you say that you enter the product name into Profit Bandit and you get your rank score.
Thanks for sharing.
i sell on ebay , what app can i use for ebay and can u explain it plz and thank u
You can read my review here.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neatoscan.neatopricer&hl=en
I think the PDAs are probably more reliable, which is why people still buy and use them.
Why not just use the Amazon app? It is free no?
+jessyka power Yes, it is free and it is a great place to start!! But after awhile, you may search for an app that gives you more info, works off a live "real-time" database, or works with a hand fob scanner to save you time.... when you get to that point, these other make it worth the price they cost.
Ok Thank you for the great advice
Ok thank you for the great advice
PB IS FREE THOUGH ...FOR ANDROID
+carlsbadtuber Love Profit Bandit!
if u cant afford $10 a month for a superior scanning tool.....get a new HOBBY
The video quality of this video isn't so good.
Some are better than others.... just trying to help people by passing the info along :)
information is more use to most who watch these vids than professional looking production. and the production looks OK to me
