You always preach a good sermon, Ken: I shoot a cold qual as my "reality test" before each training session. A cold qual, as you know, then also doubles as a diagnostic tool for identifying (real world )strong and weak points and a warmup. On another note entirely, I worked 35 years as a Corporate Account Manager to Fortune 50 manufacturers. None of them IMO were more deeply committed to excellence in innovation and product development than Bill Wilson and his team.
Thanks for this drill. I am a revolver shooter and carrier in almost all situations, and the 2-2-2 is going to become part of my range drills, probably the first one I shoot. I carried revolvers on duty even after our agency changed to S&W 4006s and later Glock 22s. (Being a captain had its privileges.) I did tell my officers that if they beat me during our semiannual qualifications under the Oklahoma CLEET standards. (We had three chances to shoot a passing score twice.) I retired carrying my revolvers. I certainly agree with your guidance not to compromise accuracy for speed. Thanks, again.
I'm glad you mentioned that if you are shooting strong side then support side you switch eyes. I've told people this before and people have saw me do this and told me I was wrong for doing it.
Great to see a Man such as Ken H. Doing his thing for all this time. Met Ken years back and I've never forgotten our handshake and conversation. AIM FOR KNOWLEDGE is key I say.
Thanks Ken, I really appreciate the adage, “Don’t compromise your accuracy!”, it means a lot in this age of shoot faster. Try as I might, from concealment to first shot for me is about 2.75 secs (with accuracy), and I’m tired of beating myself up for not being “faster.” What difference does it make if I shoot fast and miss??
Accuracy is the hard part, speed will come as you keep doing this practice 2-2-2. Keep on working. It will improve (I am also having speed vs accuracy issue, you are not alone). He is a professional and makes it look easy.
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast... and it just gets faster by itself. Focus on getting the fundamentals right, using as much time as it takes. With repetition (dry fire training really helps), you'll naturally get faster. Progress will be gradual.
Watched this when it first got posted and shot it cold today. Did 9.18 seconds from concealment, zero down with my Sig P229RXP. Thanks Ken. Keep em coming.
“Life ain’t fair so get over it!” Best advice ever. Love your work Ken. My SFX9 2.35” order is on the way, my first drill when I get it will be this drill.
You speak about training as you would carry. I was at a class a couple months ago where we were shooting out to 550-600 yards. It was spitting snow and 15 mph winds with gusts up to 25. It was miserable weather to be out in all day, I had a blast. To be aiming 4 or 5 off the target and see it impact was magical. As the instructor told me, most people don't get to experience days like this but days like this make you a better marksman.
Thank you. Simple, precise instructions and the explanation of the switching from strong hand to weak hand was excellent. Most instructors will not cover the conversion when speaking of weak hand shooting.
I love training when the weather is shit. I was out in December doing some winter training. I spent 4 days in 10-15degree weather. Just constant snow and ice. I loved it. :D
Will have to try this drill using my Left Eye when shooting weak hand. Never thought about doing that. Thanks Ken for the tips. Stay safe and God Bless.
Ken is the man, I love this drill.First take a look at his resume before you comment. He's been there done that! I keep reading about why don't you do it this way or that way! I think its kinda funny this guy is giving us knowledge and has probably shot more rounds then most of us in 10 life times. So take his advice and say thanks and carry daily and safe and be thankful we have men like this to learn from. I would love to have had someone w/ this much experience training me. (Just saying)! You guys that want to do it another way> start your own youtube channel. This is also a great drill to keep us all ready and save on ammo. Thanks for taking the time to show us other ways of training. BTW you should really try my way 20x20x20@20 kidding!
Love this drill. Also, agree on using the non dominant eye when you are shooting one handed on your non dominant side. Takes a few tries to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it really makes things easier
If I only had 3K for the SFX9..... thanks Ken for a great and practical drill. Switching eyes to match your shooting hand is an old school standard, and shooters could really benefit from that tip alone.
I take that back...im so used to seeing guns on huge back logs on their website that I guess I got that one mixed up with the others. But yeah, I agree...if I had that 3 grand I'd jump on one. They have such nice metal frame 9mm pistols.
Thanks Ken great advise! Luv the comment on the whole Clearing the fun thing I see so often and being I’m new the the whole gun thing and who am I to say but hearing from a pro such as yourself was quite refreshing because that bugged the crap out of me as well.
I’m new to the sport, I do take lessons occasionally but, this is an excellent tutorial. Excellent. Thank you!! P.S., this gun looks great to, I’m going to try and find one and try it out. 👍🇺🇸
I think it's great there is some emphasis on off-hand shooting...most people do not even think about shooting this way. I try to run a magazine this way at least once during my shooting sessions...retired LEO.
Great video Ken. Thanks for validating my own instructions. I always teach people that they need to train how they carry. Particularly important here in the northeast where we have four seasons.
Thanks for your explanation of changing eyes when you change hands. That was by biggest struggle the one time I tried an IPSC match. With your encouragement in this video, I will work on left hand with left eye until it feels natural (and accurate!).
Recently handled and shot an EDC X9. Easily among the best pistols I've ever held, among a few competition pistols and safe queens; P210, 1911s, 2011s, CZ75 Orange/Parrot. Definitely right up alongside em.
That doesn't mean shit.
That is why we watch you. Straight up and on point.

Train like you fight. As an old Soldier, I like Ken's delivery.
Outstanding AF Mr. Hackathorn ! Your skills as a teacher of 45 yrs. Really shine's through!.!!
Freaking love it! Ken's guidance/commentary and satire have been on fire in these offerings from Wilson. Thank you, Bill and Co.
Lov it ! tried this technique - oh boy ! it works pretty well !
Shave another .5 second off it, by starting strong arm, double hand with a quick switch to weak hand. It does work surprisingly well :{)
I’m very jealous of ken hackathorns friends. . . It’d be an honor to meet this man . A true patriot .
Hackathorn muzzled me thru the internet… what a thrill!
through
Glad Ken is in Idaho. Loved the show clear comment. Old school!
Gonna do this drill at the range. Nice pistol.
7:33 right!
Man as if i need more reasons to respect and admire his skills he says the best thing ever said ever.
Ken is a good teacher. Thanks Wilson.
love the cold drill is the one that counts

@@skipdreadman8765 Couldn't agree more!
Point at the target and where you want to shoot with your nose and the gun will follow.
Good drill. Enjoy all Willson Combat videos. Thank you Ken.
You bet
Came for the shooting, stayed for the awesome guitar riffs :D \m/
Love this drill.

Finally someone said out loud what I’ve been thinking with all of these UA-cam gun videos channels about showing the gun is unloaded

Epic. I’ve always thought the same thing. Glad to hear him say it.
Thanks Ken and Crew! This kind of vid helps me keep things interesting when I'm training with the family. We're in rural Idaho too!
That is awesome!
Great drill, winter now in Arkansas so it's not as toasty as when Ken made this video, making it even more challenging!
I love this dude.
Nice transition method! I’ve always used and taught the ‘slide over top’ method, but I’ll demo this as an option too
Great video, keep bringing us more information. Thanks for all you do.
Hack is a bad man. Great shooting and drill idea.
Another down to earth, common sense and very informative video from Ken!!!
Glad you enjoyed it

Will add this to range practice.

Interesting drill.
Nice, that's a keeper for a drill.
It sure is
Love this drill. Also, agree on using the non dominant eye when you are shooting one handed on your non dominant side. Takes a few tries to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it really makes things easier
Love the honesty, thank you !!
Always!
Excellent training demonstration and philosophy. Thank you sir for your instructional help.
Glad it was helpful!
All great advice!!!

It would be helpful if they weren't back ordered into the next three millenia as well. Haha

Arkansas is what immediately comes to mind when I think of sophistication. I hope that’s a designer blazer and not just off the rack.
Wow pop's is a bad ass nice
7:37 I'm in total agreement on this.
