Hey guys! Welcome back to Advent Calendar Season! This one got me a little heated, just as it did last year! There is basically no value whatsoever and in my opinion there is no reason to ever purchase this advent calendar but I would love to hear your thoughts! So sorry for the confusion on some of the prices, numbers are not my thing lol but I do show the exact cost of everything and how much you could buy it for directly off the website compared to how much the advent calendar changes at the end of the video. The K&J families egos are soooo huge that they think their sub-par inferior products are wonderful and consumers will pay and not question the value. I'm heated too. This Advent calendar and their "beauty products" are horrendously ugly in every way. Had to get that off my chest. Aaanyway, thanks for the video showing us how awful it is so we don't have to! Love ya!
The misprinted ingredient list on the lip gloss is probably why it ended up in an advent calendar. I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up seeing it rattling around in subscription boxes soon. It can’t be sold conventionally without a full ingredient list, but it can be put in a set if the consumer is directed to the website for ingredients. Its a lot cheaper than reprinting packaging or printing slips/stickers to put in/on the boxes.
exactly this and this is a huge reason i'll never buy one - i have allergies and i need to know what's in my stuff BEFORE buying it, and if the exact items/ingredients aren't listed on the listing for the calendar (which makes it less fun because surprises...) there's absolutely no chance i'd buy it

I still use my launch 1 original palette. I’ve hit pan on every shade, they work perfectly. It’s fine not to support someone you don’t like but y’all just want to hate lol

Your anger at this calendar was perfection! You tend to be so forgiving and nice, even in the face of blatant nonsense (oatmeal, anyone?), so seeing you absolutely lose it at the cheap, terry cloth headband was incredible. I hope you're able to make your money back with your videos this season, because man, that's such a rip off! Loving the vids as always, and I hope you have/had a wonderful anniversary!
I think the thing that gets me is the fact that Kylie is a billionaire and yet she can't lower her profit margins for 12 products sold through the advent calendar to make this worth it. I could maybe understand if there were exclusive shades or a special sneak peek at unreleased products to try ahead of time but she's not even doing that.
She isn’t a billionaire. That was blown up massively. Her company, had made a billion in sales at that point. Unless she had no wages/warehouses/production facilities/bills in her workplaces/ products to buy/transport costs/insurance payments, she didn’t actually make 1 bil. Her fans blew it up. She’s never released her net worth, everything is speculative.

She can’t necessarily do that for a couple of reasons, the company relies on revenue to pay for employees, production, offices, etc. also the company needs to maintain a specific valuation and for that she needs to bring in net profit. Lastly I think 40% of the company is owned by Coty so I’m sure they have invested interest in margins, 40% interest im assuming lol

I was in Nordstrom where Kylie Cosmetics was being sold at the time; I’m not sure if they still are sold there. The woman who waited on me said the products are junk, none of the salespeople recommend them, and she was baffled as to why Nordstrom carries them. Maybe the Kardashians paid them? 😂

I think if i owned a cosmetics company, I would use my advent calender to launch new products for the upcoming year... That way every door is exciting... And people can try the stuff they want to wear for the coming year
I’d say P.Louise is the runaway winner for that for me, none of the products in the advent calendar were available anywhere else and it was all inside a big twinkly pink dream house - I couldn’t have asked for more 😁😁! I’d be so disappointed if I would have got the Kylie Cosmetics one, that was ridiculous!
I don't know if anyone else noticed, but aside from like maybe one or two products, this calendar is the same exact one from last year. I know this with almost 100% certainty, because I have been rewatching your old advent videos while waiting on the new ones to be released. I think last years did have a lip pencil in it, which I think was replaced with the brown eyeliner. But other than that i'm almost positive the lineup of products is the same exact one from last year. Was hoping you would get better value this year, but i'm not suprised Ms. Kylie doesnt seem to care about value for the consumer. Just value for her wallet.
In my experience Advent calendars have always been gifts you give people vs buying them for yourself. I think that's how they bamboozle ppl. Grandma might go "she likes this makeup stuff" and buy this not realizing it's a ripoff, just because it's easier to get this "gift set" than trying to actually understand or remember what they like.
Actually understanding and remembering what people you don't see everyday, or that are just multiple generations off, is extremely hard. I like many things where I wouldn't even know how my grandparents could buy them, why would I expect them to. Do you expect a person, 50 years older than you (or any person, really) not only know you like gaming (as an example), but also what kind of games, on what platform and which one you'd want right now but don't have already? Ridiculous. Or, in this context, do you expect someone to know your preferred makeup brand, your shades and what products you like? BS. What are your gifts to your grandparents? Good chance that it's either this one thing they always loved and are happy to get every year, since that's how long it lasts them, or it's just random stuff like sweets, knitting needles, whatever, which is as vague as "oh, they like makeup, don't they" and they probably are just happy about it, because they got something from their loved ones.

No where in it was I critiquing loved ones ability to remember what a person wants for the holidays, but the predatory manner of these corporations on the naivety of its consumers during this time of year. Which might just be the language barrier, tbh. In that case: Forget what I said. But since I saw this comment (really just now), I'll take the opportunity to add a funfact (since I'm slightly bored and hungry and my dinner will take some time until it's ready. xD): These kinds of advent calendars do puzzle me quite a bit anyway. In my culture advent calendars have a pretty long tradition, but they were never ment as any kind of gift set in that sense, or even just as something where you'd expect a higher value (financially) than you paid. Original advent calendars were reusable every year, they were just numbered doors to open every day, behind every door there was a tiny (wintery/christmasy) painting. Every door was purely a countdown and an everyday gift of more Christmas spirit. Then came the chocolate ones, not fancy chocolate by any means, just a small piece of regular chocolate for every day (usually just stamped with a snowman, a sled, a snowflake etc) and they cost more than the chocolate itself would. Also popular are those that you made yourself, as a gift, in numbered bags/boxes/whatever and the value (financially) if the gifts is just as high as what you've put in there (or less, because of the packaging, but that's usually reused every year). Then now there are sets that'll simply give you something you can't buy otherwise, outside of the calendar (Bluebrixx, a Lego kind of stuff, made one this year than I would have LOVED) and, of course, the predatory (again, I absolutely agree) ones like we see in the videos, that often are a bit like a subscription box, just once a year.
Okay so I love to follow along and go to the sites and add up all the individual stuff for prices. This one was $213 value (because they sell minis on the kylie skin and the clarifying cleansing gel is sold for $12 ridiculous.) But that given...Its still not giving any value for sure! I absolutely love your content...especially the advent calenders!
That lipstick actually looks like it was made for you. Mia maples recently did a video on color matching and I feel like this is your color. The tones in this lipstick are bringing out all of the amazing features in your face.
There's just something so soothing about you righteously telling off these companies for their shoddy advent calendars. My blood pressure has never been better. I love advent calendar season with you.

It doesn't even matter if the product needs that kind of help, or if it's just greed. Or not giving a shit, really, if you're just interested in being seen a great. It's an immediate red flag. Some people say "but she was so young, she probably was insecure and didn't know better"... BS. Not only does she have a whole PR team, but if you're letting loose your brand on costumers (and fans) you have a certain responsibility. If you can't do that, because you're too insecure, fine. Then just don't release a brand, no one will be mad because of this.

Christmas is never an enjoyable holiday for me. However this advent calendar season is what I look forward to every year. Thank you so much for being such a light in this dark world !

I usually agree with you about the lip colours not suiting you (because there is a slight to cool tone for your skin), but the first color (if it is in real life, as portrayed on the screen) it.looks amazing!!
Lol the Kylie liner that "bubbled" reminds me of the LA Colors liquid liner at Dollar Tree 😂 luxury indeed... (Note: the LA Colors marker/pen style auto liner is actually pretty great, highly recommend the navy version. But the LAC gel & pen liners are crap, much like the Kylie line...at least $1.25 is reasonable for bubbly, uneven, likely-to-peel liner)
Well you did it K*lie! You got the one of the most forgiving and sweetest people on the internet heated. Normally, Alexandria is able to find some kind of saving grace with advent calendars (with the exception of Sephora), but K*lie JenJen just HAD to push it. Once again, trying to manifest it, Alexandria should totally do her own advent calendar. I'd buy it SOOOOO FAST!!! Trying to manifest this into existence. You know there would be great quality, well thought out, and well made products.

Honestly, buying last year's calendar on sale seems to be the better value! They made it WORSE this year somehow. At least last year you got a lip liner instead of that pump bottle of cleanser, and there was a 7$ positive value 😅

Wow - I think this calendar is a complete rip off! To be honest, I never have - and I never will, buy anything anyone in that entire family creates/sells.
My favorite brand, Kikiz Cosmeticz always shocks me when her glosses show up with no bubble visible(there is an air bubble, it's just at the top, and once you take the wand out you can't see it anymore) But then there was one time I got a clear gloss with a TON of bubbles in it and it looked like a soda and I haven't opened it cuz I like the look of it😂😂

I wish companies would understand that when your customer is willing to sacrifice choice, you have to give them something in return. And the only something they can give is value. If you're not giving them at least 33% more, 50% would be better, you need to go back to the drawing board. Advent calendars are an excuse to get rid of product that didn't sell. You have to let your price. And not give 2 products that are basically exactly the same

I’m sorry but Kylie Skin is less appealing to me then a clear eyeliner. After what her lip kits, that made this brand, did to the health of lips, I wouldn’t look to this brand to improve my skin at all!

Pure dimethicone is pretty much one of the best scar treatments out there (don't use Kylie lipgloss though). Just because it's used in industrial products doesn't mean it's bad for the skin (especially considering how it's one of the best personal lubricants as well, there is a certain sub-type that is really good for sensitive skin). EDIT: Definitely do NOT use Kylie lipglosss as a personal lubricant. It might be on brand for Kylie, but no. There are other ingredients in there that will not be pleasant.

I feel like for the money that you spent, you were better off just buying straight Kylie products than the advent calendar, if you like her products. I personally will never buy from Kylie because of exactly what you mentioned at the beginning of your video when her lip kits first dropped and young women and girls thought that they could have lips like hers if they bought them. Fast forward and she has finally admitted to lip fillers. I don't hate on anyone who gets elective surgery or fillers/botox, etc. I just don't like dishonest business practices. Just another grift from that family in my POV.

I was in Nordstrom where Kylie Cosmetics was being sold at the time; I’m not sure if they still are sold there. The woman who waited on me said the products are junk, none of the salespeople recommend them, and she was baffled as to why Nordstrom carries them. Maybe the Kardashians paid them? 😂

I’d say P.Louise is the runaway winner for that for me, none of the products in the advent calendar were available anywhere else and it was all inside a big twinkly pink dream house - I couldn’t have asked for more 😁😁! I’d be so disappointed if I would have got the Kylie Cosmetics one, that was ridiculous!
I don't know if anyone else noticed, but aside from like maybe one or two products, this calendar is the same exact one from last year. I know this with almost 100% certainty, because I have been rewatching your old advent videos while waiting on the new ones to be released. I think last years did have a lip pencil in it, which I think was replaced with the brown eyeliner. But other than that i'm almost positive the lineup of products is the same exact one from last year. Was hoping you would get better value this year, but i'm not suprised Ms. Kylie doesnt seem to care about value for the consumer. Just value for her wallet.
In my experience Advent calendars have always been gifts you give people vs buying them for yourself. I think that's how they bamboozle ppl. Grandma might go "she likes this makeup stuff" and buy this not realizing it's a ripoff, just because it's easier to get this "gift set" than trying to actually understand or remember what they like.

Actually understanding and remembering what people you don't see everyday, or that are just multiple generations off, is extremely hard.
I like many things where I wouldn't even know how my grandparents could buy them, why would I expect them to.
Do you expect a person, 50 years older than you (or any person, really) not only know you like gaming (as an example), but also what kind of games, on what platform and which one you'd want right now but don't have already? Ridiculous.
Or, in this context, do you expect someone to know your preferred makeup brand, your shades and what products you like? BS.
What are your gifts to your grandparents? Good chance that it's either this one thing they always loved and are happy to get every year, since that's how long it lasts them, or it's just random stuff like sweets, knitting needles, whatever, which is as vague as "oh, they like makeup, don't they" and they probably are just happy about it, because they got something from their loved ones.

But since I saw this comment (really just now), I'll take the opportunity to add a funfact (since I'm slightly bored and hungry and my dinner will take some time until it's ready. xD):
These kinds of advent calendars do puzzle me quite a bit anyway. In my culture advent calendars have a pretty long tradition, but they were never ment as any kind of gift set in that sense, or even just as something where you'd expect a higher value (financially) than you paid.
Original advent calendars were reusable every year, they were just numbered doors to open every day, behind every door there was a tiny (wintery/christmasy) painting. Every door was purely a countdown and an everyday gift of more Christmas spirit.
Then came the chocolate ones, not fancy chocolate by any means, just a small piece of regular chocolate for every day (usually just stamped with a snowman, a sled, a snowflake etc) and they cost more than the chocolate itself would.
Also popular are those that you made yourself, as a gift, in numbered bags/boxes/whatever and the value (financially) if the gifts is just as high as what you've put in there (or less, because of the packaging, but that's usually reused every year).
Then now there are sets that'll simply give you something you can't buy otherwise, outside of the calendar (Bluebrixx, a Lego kind of stuff, made one this year than I would have LOVED) and, of course, the predatory (again, I absolutely agree) ones like we see in the videos, that often are a bit like a subscription box, just once a year.
Okay so I love to follow along and go to the sites and add up all the individual stuff for prices. This one was $213 value (because they sell minis on the kylie skin and the clarifying cleansing gel is sold for $12 ridiculous.) But that given...Its still not giving any value for sure!

I usually agree with you about the lip colours not suiting you (because there is a slight to cool tone for your skin), but the first color (if it is in real life, as portrayed on the screen) it.looks amazing!!
Lol the Kylie liner that "bubbled" reminds me of the LA Colors liquid liner at Dollar Tree 😂 luxury indeed... (Note: the LA Colors marker/pen style auto liner is actually pretty great, highly recommend the navy version. But the LAC gel & pen liners are crap, much like the Kylie line...at least $1.25 is reasonable for bubbly, uneven, likely-to-peel liner)
Well you did it K*lie! You got the one of the most forgiving and sweetest people on the internet heated. Normally, Alexandria is able to find some kind of saving grace with advent calendars (with the exception of Sephora), but K*lie JenJen just HAD to push it.

Wow - I think this calendar is a complete rip off! To be honest, I never have - and I never will, buy anything anyone in that entire family creates/sells.
My favorite brand, Kikiz Cosmeticz always shocks me when her glosses show up with no bubble visible(there is an air bubble, it's just at the top, and once you take the wand out you can't see it anymore)
But then there was one time I got a clear gloss with a TON of bubbles in it and it looked like a soda and I haven't opened it cuz I like the look of it😂😂

I wish companies would understand that when your customer is willing to sacrifice choice, you have to give them something in return. And the only something they can give is value. If you're not giving them at least 33% more, 50% would be better, you need to go back to the drawing board. Advent calendars are an excuse to get rid of product that didn't sell. You have to let your price. And not give 2 products that are basically exactly the same

Pure dimethicone is pretty much one of the best scar treatments out there (don't use Kylie lipgloss though). Just because it's used in industrial products doesn't mean it's bad for the skin (especially considering how it's one of the best personal lubricants as well, there is a certain sub-type that is really good for sensitive skin).
EDIT: Definitely do NOT use Kylie lipglosss as a personal lubricant. It might be on brand for Kylie, but no. There are other ingredients in there that will not be pleasant.
I would NEVER buy anything with Kylie’s name on it. If someone gave me something from her I would destroy it.

I feel like for the money that you spent, you were better off just buying straight Kylie products than the advent calendar, if you like her products. I personally will never buy from Kylie because of exactly what you mentioned at the beginning of your video when her lip kits first dropped and young women and girls thought that they could have lips like hers if they bought them. Fast forward and she has finally admitted to lip fillers. I don't hate on anyone who gets elective surgery or fillers/botox, etc. I just don't like dishonest business practices. Just another grift from that family in my POV.
