    • @CADinblack
      @CADinblack  4 роки тому +4

      Autocad is very good for 2D drawing, specially if you want to use very detail drawing. Revit is very good for making a full project. With elevations, sections and 3D views. It takes a bit time to get used to it but once you learn it, it is faster and easier to modify projects on Revit.

      About changing colors -> you have to go to the Visibility Graphics (View tab) and select the family, click on Override to change the color. You can play around there. It's not too hard to understand. I may cover this topic in the future.

    Amazing and crazy helpful video! I just have a question concerning the different types of walls in the properties tab: Ive got the Revit 2022 version and don't have the walls in there that you have. Mine are all called Wall-Ext_35sc-50Air-100lns.... and so on, all with different numbers, none are just good old basic 140mm masonry walls. Is there a way to import those walls or change settings to get them? Cheers :)

    I still do not understand drawing a floor plan with external walls. For example: if I draw and external wall with a thickness say 250 mm (in australia we work with mm and not metres) and the floor plan is going to be 10, 000 mm by 10, 000 mm (do I have to add the thickness of the beginning and the end walls which would be 250 mm plus 250 mm plus 10,000 mm for the length of the wall? When I draw it, the length number changes to 9820 mm. It is very confusing. Everything else I understood.

    • @CADinblack
      @CADinblack  3 роки тому +1

      It is harder in the beginning when we are not used with the software, and it also takes time to customize the things. But later, we can notice the advantages of doing that.

    • @compassft
      @compassft 3 роки тому

      @@CADinblack Yes, it is exactly what I meant. I watched your video as I have to do a drawing but it is not my regular job. Furthermore, the house I am drawing is quite "irregular" as it is a mountain house with particular elements in wood and stone. Anyway the house is quite small: two floors and few square meters. I have thought that the amount of time requested for customizing everything doesn't worth as this is for me just a spot job. In my situation is much better going with AutoCAD. If I had to do that everyday (and that's what I meant when I wrote " when everything is regular" in my previous comment) for sure Revit would be my tool.

      Hello Langit. I hope you solved your problem. Probably you were in the sketch mode when drawing some elements, like floors and stairs. In the sketch mode we have to click on the red X to exit.

      Hello +DailYxDosE. I activated the Wall command, that's why the options bar showed up. This time I used the shortcut "WA" instead of clicking on the button.

      Hello +jaul. Haven't you figure out this yet? Maybe you have to try again. It's strange but I am not sure how many window families are loaded in Revit 2017. I also suggest you to check Revit Libraries. I explained how to import content from there in this video at the Components Topic: ua-cam.com/video/hf6MPyPRU_o/v-deo.html

    hi, what can I do, when my revit is not showing me thicknesses of the wall?

    • @CADinblack
      @CADinblack  3 роки тому +1

      Usually wall thicknesses are indicated on the family type name (when select the type of wall). However it can be an approximate value. To know thw wall thickness precisely, you should go to Edit type, and check the width

      You might opened the architectural template. However you can always create new levels. I focus on that in Part 3 ua-cam.com/video/hf6MPyPRU_o/v-deo.html

    how are you going to title a tutorial "60 minutes"...upload 2 parts or about 25 minutes....then never upload the rest? feel like I got led down a road with a dead end and now I need to search for another set of beginner tutorials, hopefully one that doesn't end up wasting my time.

      Hello Micheal. Yes, you are right. This series was interrupted for some time, I apologize for that.
      Actually Part 3 will be released on next Monday.
