The game has really changed since the 80’s, no constant square passing at the back, no faking injuries and no long shorts! Has it made for better viewing today, I’m not so sure. It wasn’t so much about money back then.
True and Liverpool have a great team at the moment but they know that Manchester United are a massive power that only needs harnessing correctly to compete at the highest level.
Just as the Scousers had their day up until 1990/91, they have come again. United knocked them off their perch & they’ll be back again. It seems to go in cycles… That penalty the Scousers hot in 1981, was never a penalty, not even in 2022.
@Jay Smith Agree with you. However, there does seem to be a lot of foreign players that don’t have the required attitude. Ability is not enough, it wasn’t sixty years ago & it isn’t today..
Actually went to this match, a real blood and thunder game! In some ways football has improved dramatically in some way’s we’ve lost something. The terraces were a scary place in them days!
This was a time of transition for the Liverpool team. Clemence and Case had just gone that summer. Johnson, McDermott and Ray Kennedy would all leave within 9 months after this fixture. United under Atkinson would have won the league I believe if they had signed Lineker instead of Brazil.
What a clisheh...Manchester United always managed to get something from the liverpool fixture. Yet..at the end of nearly every season in the 1980s?. lt was always liverpool lifting the title at anfield
liverpool went 8 seasons without win over United at Anfield between 79/80 and 87/88. Rush didn't score once in those at Anfield.Rush couldn't score on United at Anfield in his first spell.
City are top dog in Manchester now and will be for the next 20+years,man u/fa are now playing in the second tier of European football, what a hoot! 14>1 Amen.

A tad different to the Premier league today.
All outfield players from the British Isles.
Happy days and great players
United got a 9-0 bumming last season, hope we can hit them for 10 this season !

@Jay Smith Pogba has gone, their seems to be a changing of the guard & a new guard commander.. Let’s see what way the wind blows come May 23…

Interesting insight from Ron about Phil Neal. He was right. Neal used to start many attacks
Great upload. Only seen 9 minutes of this before.
I remember Albiston’s winner being analysed by Ian St. John on the following week’s On The Ball, as an example of Liverpool’s defensive decline.
I hate to see my team lose but the way Arthur A takes that last goal is masterly.
Remember listening to this on the radio whilst watching Newtown at Latham Park in Wales..Albiston last minute winner
Well said big ron about phil neal

The pitch is wrecked by the underground heating pipes which failed .the whole lot got ripped up at the end of the season
Big Ron was right with what he said about Phil Neal.
Utd always was up for it. Hateful Tyler commentating

Tyler, the worst commenter ever, in dreamland because the Mancs won. He would have been gutted to see Liverpool go on to win the league that season.
