Good reaction as usual. Just a few thoughts: -8:55: Waddles got captured by a pterosaur, not a dinosaur. Pterosaurs ARE closely related to dinos (which technically include birds), but are NOT dinos themselves. Alex Hirsh actually confirmed that the laptop timer was all in Dipper's dream, specifically conjured up by Bill to pressure him into making a deal, which makes sense, considering Bill wouldn't have needed to destroy the laptop if it was already set to erase all its data.
@@worthythaneofross3925 Bill never said he was gonna give him the password or even a hint, he just implied it, and Dipper was too desperate and sleep-deprived to realize until after the deal was made. This is why making deals with him is not a good idea.

I still can't believe they got Neil deGrasse Tyson to voice Smart Waddles. Also, I love how the 2D animation and the claymation styles mesh together in the last story. The character Harry Claymore, and the segment in general, are a tribute to legendary visual effects master, Ray Harryhausen and his stop-motion films.
The start when Stan was talking to us, I believe is a reference to Aladdin. It was the intro to the movie, the peddler was talking to us, trying to sell us the magic lamp.
My beautiful beautiful cat was named Waddles, named after Waddles, and the fact she waddled when walking. Unfortunately we recently lost her to a heart condition 😢
Worth noting that this episode as a whole, not just the stories in it, are non-canonical, according to one of the secret messages. So the Stan we know didn't actually kidnap a customer to use as an attraction, at least that we know of.
Even though this episode isn't really canon (considering Stan made all of the stories up), it's still really fun and delightfully captures the essence of the show. The meta jokes concerning animators in the claymation portion, getting Neil deGrasse Tyson to voice Smart Waddles and the bizzare Hand Witch stuff are classic Gravity Falls things.
That last story was a tribute to visual effects artist Ray Harryhausen. There’s a cool documentary about the guy called Harryhausen Chronicles narrated by Leonard Nimoy aka Mr Spock. Easy to find online

This episode is an anthology, so you totally could've swapped this one with last week's and made that one a Valentines Day special, just like you did last year with Summerween.

I believe you've confused Gumby with Stretch Armstrong. While Gumby toys were eventually sold, the character originated as the protagonist of a claymation cartoon created by Art Clokey in the '50s, which was aired in one iteration or another through to the late '80s (and then some, in syndicated form). It was one of my favorite shows as a kid! Probably part of why I'm kind of a weird adult... 🤔
15:50 - OH MY GOD, YES LITERALLY THE STORY OF MY LIFE. I WAS SO SCARED OF THAT FREAKING MOVIE AS A KID I watched it, and got spooked for WEEKS. Can't believe someone had the same experience, lmao. Can't watch Wallace and Gromit even now :D
Claymation was terrifying to me as a kid, and even to this day. To this day I’ve never sat through The Nightmare Before Christmas because of the stop motion, and the implication of such a messed up world. So thanks, Gravity Falls, for addressing a real fear of mine.
I wish willy wonka gave me nightmares. I saw Jurassic park when i was 5 and i had dinosaur nightmares for years. I loved dinosaurs before that. Finding out dinosaurs were all giant turkeys 25 years later helped me cope lol
I sought out "Gravity Falls" episodes on Disney XD from May 2023 to the end of Summer. "Summerween" didn't show up and "Little Gift Shop of Horrors" popped up near the end of Summer 2023. Disney and Spectrum systems went to war over ESPN fees, and, after 12 days, EIGHT Disney-owned channels had been taken off for Disney+. FXX, FX Movies and Disney XD, among others, were gone forever, so an Amazon order later, I had the "Gravity Falls" Collector's Edition. Oh well, I wasn't a fan of FXX' "Archer" or "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Ditto for "Amphibia" and "The Owl House" on Disney XD.
I was scared of Snow White and Bambi specifically the forest scenes. When I was 4 I was put in my parents room with all the lights off, half asleep and Bambi on the tv, I’ve never seen it since, I guess the forest scene in Snow White was close enough to it that made me scared.
I started watching the Simpsons in the last year and I think this episode is supposed to be reminiscent of the Halloween episodes that started in the second season of the show
Kenny, I’m with you on the Goosebumps thing. I used to not mind ventriloquist dummies, but after one of my classmates brought in Night of the Living Dummy 2 in class for an ice cream party in 4th grade, I was terrified!!! I kept my eyes closed the whole movie. I had trouble sleeping for 6 months and didn’t want to leave home for weekends or vacations. The thing is too I saw this movie a very long time ago as a little girl at the gym where my mom used to exercise at. There was a little play room area parents could drop off their kids while they worked out and this movie was playing. I wasn’t paying attention to it because it didn’t interest me, but it did creep me out with what I did notice. Even after the movie that day, one of the after school program counselors noticed something was off about me and told me to take a break from playing for a bit to sit. I felt fine and thought I was acting normal but was still freaked out a bit. It’s been 18 years and I still don’t trust those dummies. I’m afraid they’ll come to life and exhale the green smoke to turn me into one of their dummy servants! And I don’t care that Jack Black, one of my favorite actors, voices, him in the newer movies, those trailers went on mute every time they came on tv!
I love Gravity Falls so much ahhhhhh. I love your reaction videos to this series as well. I think another good series to watch is Doctor who, its not an animated show but I would love to see Montanas takes on some of the ethical dilemmas in the show.
I think Mabel should've had some of the hands form into a tree in that cave. Would've been interesting for the cave to have a... palm tree!! *crickets*
It’s always interesting hearing about people’s childhood fears around media. This might be in part due to me being autistic but I was legitimately not scared of any fictional things as a kid. The stuff that scared me as a kid was like. True crime TV and the news because it convinced me that murderers were everywhere. Like it was a real and tangible threat, something that logically I knew wasn’t just on the TV and exists. The amount of fear and paranoia I had was definitely disproportionate to the actual probability of the threat though to be fair.
Showing up 8 months late to say that as a child I saw curse of the were-rabbit in theaters with my dad and sister and I was crying bc I was so scared and everyone else I ever talked to who had seen it had no issues with it scaring them to the point of tears or bad dreams and kudos to aardman for making a great film that like 99% of kids enjoyed but I am now 26 and still have nEVER rewatched it so yeah I feel your pain

I'm actually shocked. I thought they noticed it right away and just never commented on it LOL

The only person Alex wanted for the waddles role was Neil de grass Tyson. There’s a great interview video on UA-cam on it
If we're talking Wallace and Gromit, you might want to avoid "The Wrong Trousers" because of a certain penguin.

You know, when she redecorated the Hand Witch's cave, Mabel proved that she's a real handywoman!
I find it funny that this is a Tales of the Crypt parody but it's title is based on Little Shop of Horrors.
I'm sure your kitty will be as cute as Waddles, but I guarantee the kitty will zoom around the house like AOT Levi, LOL.
