- Let's start the new year with lots of glitz and lots of glam! We are making Dita Von Teese! I have been wanting to make a doll of her for the longest, but I never found the right time until now! When I found this glass, I knew it was gonna be perfect for her martini act. I hope you guys enjoy and make sure you watch till the end for the full performance ;)

My grandmother was a hairdresser trained in the 1950s and you definitely mentioned some of the things she learned! She said they were taught to cut hair "with a smile" refering to the curved edge of the hair. She would also paint my nails with the half moons showing for prom :)

Mixing your apoxie clay with paint is a good way to minimize paint chips. :) Absolutely stunning doll!!!!
The apoxie sculpt is is gray though, would adding color really do much..?
I havent tried that yet cuznut sounds so messy haha but you think it would work?
Huh I have never tried that, they do make epoxy in white but I’ve never bought it. I’ll have to give it a shot! I’ve been on that struggle 😅
@HeXtian alternatively, perhaps a mineral foundation powder could work. They use it with silicone to colour match for prosthetics 🤔
Might be worth experimenting with.

Fun fact, the head is from the Holiday Barbie of 2011
I think it’s 2014 2011 has lighter hair and a closed mouth and doesn’t appear to have the glitter

It's such a fun idea to see a real martini glass used for Dita's giant martini glass, and such an impressive final result! I've only seen Dita Von Teese when she made a guest appearance in one of the Eurovision numbers, though I definitely think Hextian could gather a lot of cool project ideas from there.
The videos were you make a doll after a real person are my favorites, the dolls always turn out to be so gorgeous and detailed 💙💙

That was wonderful I especially loved the "Show" at the end. Would you ever consider doing an Elvira Mistress of the Dark, she is a real icon and I know you would love doing her eye makeup xx
Absolutely love this! My mom used to collect those glasses. It’s actually a candy dish, very similar in shape to a champagne coupe but larger. They sometimes come with lids.
Oooooh omg thats good to know! Yes they do look similar to the coupe glass! But its perfect for the dolls
This is lovely, but I found the end sequence so funny. Just imaging Hex rotating the doll to get the tassles to move is really funny to me.
Edit: the end poses with the smoke and soap foam are really good 😭

Only a year off! That girl who donated her head is the 2014 holiday barbie I recognized her because I found her in awful condition at the thrift store and used her as the victim of my first ever attempt at a yarn reroot I’ve figured out what I’m doing now but she remains as a tribute to my beginnings and also I just like the pink yarn I used
I've never seen any of her shows but man do I love Dita's style! Also it's so cool that she got to see the doll and it got her stamp of approval! It's just as beautiful as she is

Maybe you could use one of those silicone bodies made for 1/6 action figure all their joints are on the inside 🤔 and they're sold separately you don't have to buy the figure to get the body and they come in different body types

In case the chipping gets worse why not try water glue or just glue to prevent chipping, it worked for Dollmotion's dolls. I'm gonna try my best drawing Beyonce & Dita Von Teese free hand
and add them to my Free hand Hextian sketches binder. I wonder which Monsterhigh G3 will be next, see you next time Hex.
I feel like the first customizer to find a reliable way to re-color joints and not have them chip is going to be hailed as a legend of the hobby for all eternity. I've seen some manage it...sort of...by using pastels and really working the powder into the joints, but it's really not easy @_@

Absolutely stunning!! I was thinking - with the painting of the body, why don't u try polycolor dye or vinyl dye? Because it's a dye for plastic, they don't chip!
I have to try that out but dont think it could dye the apoxy clay, could it?! 🤔
@@HeXtian Maybe you could color match the clay after dyeing the plastic? if the clay isn't impeding any articulations, maybe it would be easier this way in future proyects
@@HeXtian There is a pink toned Aves Apoxie sculpt, which might blend more than grey. Magic Sculpt is another brand of epoxy clay that comes in a light flesh-toned pink color. And different types of plastics absorb dyes in different unpredictable ways. Also, dying projects can always only go DARKER than the base, necessitating starting significantly lighter than the desired color. Fair-skinned MTM Barbies are surprisingly uncommon.
This is my favorite doll as of yet. The end was everything. Her body is as HOT as her lips. I'm glad that you got her stamp of approval. I hope that you gave her some pictures too ♥

This is so beautiful, btw that’s not a martini glass you used it’s a vintage candy dish also called a compote. You can look up “vintage Indiana diamond point candy dish”.

And I think the glass might have been a stemmed candy dish originally. My mom had one in the 80's that looked really similar but in black glass and it had a lid. But it does make a perfect doll-size DVT glass! It reminds me of the champagne glasses from the 50's.
You are very talented! You can work the feminine features of the face and body and make the looks of celebrities eternal in the dolls!
I just want to say that I wish Mattel would have kept as an option, the original body for Barbie. I love all the different body types they have available now and I'm not saying to do away with that I'm just saying if we are embracing all body types what about us gals that have the hourglass figure? Is it not damaging to young girls who are developing to say they should be embarrassed of their curves? Also just on a practical level as a collector annoys me that vintage Barbie and modern Barbie can't swap clothing.
