I love the new counter...and the gold knobs look gorgeous- especially with your new boujie tap! Laminate in my kitchen is 28yrs old...it's a bit worn, but for now can stay, lol I'm getting me bathroom done first! 😄 Can't wait to see what you do with the tiles...and the upcycle on the old counter tops 🥰
The whites and creams of the kettle etc and the gold tap and handles, help tie in the different whites of the tiles, cupboards and countertop. I love the cottage look - if all the whites were the same, it would look too cold.

I think it was a wise choice because firstly, you should give yourself the best you can( you are living with it), and, secondly, it was a good choice for the value of the property. Honestly, so many people make expensive bad choices for countertops that just look terrible. I think your countertop looks refreshing and well-suited to the space. Also, the oval knobs are perfect- elegant but dainty too🥰. And I love the new bulbs in the terracotta pots! I'm sure they'll look even lovelier when they bloom. I hope you are safe and well🐞🌼

Catherine, Your projects always look great when you finish. You did exactly what I would have advised my clients in the same situation and that is to go with a laminate. If your original countertops have been there since the build then obviously the cabinets have as well. I would never recommend putting expensive new countertops on old cabinets. Most kitchens are remodeled at least every 10-15 years. So if you install expensive countertops that is money lost if you later remodel. If you install expensive countertops and then sell, buyers are reluctant to pay more for the “updated” kitchen because they know the kitchen soon needs a full remodel. If you have older cabinets, laminate is kind of the best option because it gives you the pretty but with practical savings. At the end of the day, new laminate countertops will increase the esthetics of an older kitchen and appeal to the potential buyers simply because they look nice and not because they are expensive. Also, regarding paint, most brands have fan decks or paint cards that typically graduate from the purest hue (darkest) down to the least saturated light or white. Find the “white” that is in the same color Archived collection. Another option is to have them mix the Colourtrend’s Tumbled Marble formula but have the pigment cut by 75% (this mean only 25% of the pigments or drops are added to the base) and this should be almost white. If it’s still too dark or too light play with the percentages. Hope this is helpful in some way. Your Garden is looking lovey too. Sorry for the long message.

My friend got a conservatory for £11k! and I was saying dolefully to my dad that I would love a conservatory but couldn't afford £11k. He said get a brickie to do the base and walls and then add the plastic on top. So I had a base put down and dwarf walls built and a tall wall at one side with small windows at the top for neighbour privacy which I use as a bookshelf too. Came home one day to find my dad there building the plastic part with his friends whilst bitching about their wives.😄 I have an open plan kitchen/conservatory now and I can't keep anyone out of it - my lounge is redundant now 😀 It is lovely to sit in there and listen to the birds chirping. With the high ceiling it feels like you"re outside. I theme decorate it for every season. Best present 🎁 I ever gave myself.

I have twisty wrought iron handles at present with back cabinets painted Vintage Beige. Sophisticated also, after 12 years of quite strong yellow. Enjoying the change.

Hi Catherine, I'm from Australia and wanted to say that I love everything that you do, your house and gardens are lovely. As soon as I can I am painting my top cupboards white and the lower in sage. I'm going to add trim to them to make a shaker style. I'm also deciding between white or a pale coloured timber for the tops. All my doors and bench are laminate. I'm really looking forward to seeing what colour you end up doing as it might help me to decide. I've got white tiles too. I think we may have the same taste 😂. Your kitchen is really lovely now and I think the tile is still very nice. We just in January put in new lower cabinets and a refresh on the uppers. I put in Ikea's apron front sink and the same cup pulls, knobs and tap as yours! I also had laminate countertops from our local cabinet shop installed and I love it~ I could not be happier with all of it. You were very smart not to use the contact paper for a counter refresh, always do something that will last for a long time, never a slap-happy-make-do. You are very sensible! But then we already knew that, you can do most anything and do it very well.
I really like your "new" kitchen 😁. Don't change the colour for now. Enjoy it for a little bit more and if in the long run you feel like changing it, you go girl!
I actually really like the colour of the cabinets now! If you’re still feeling meh about the combo I’d consider painting the backsplash or even the grout. For some contrast.

Wow, what a difference the counter top makes. Great choice of color, knobs look nice too and the tap. When you stencil the backsplash make the colors match the wall color and the cabinet color then everything will look intentional. Whatever you do, make sure you use the color black somewhere. Plus use a pattern not a floral, that covers 4 squares of tile so the pattern isn't so busy looking.
Your kitchen update is very beautiful and I applaud you for not being tempted by spending a fortune on a full kitchen renovation but instead you thought it through and used your head and not your heart. The gold hardware is a great choice. Everything looks fresh and delightful, ready for spring and summer enjoyment. xx

I love it! I did exactly the same. I replaced my ancient melamine counters with white engineered stone. Mine were waaaay older than yours. It makes such a difference. PS: I have the same kettle and toaster in white. 😃✌🏻

Great choice!!! They look awesome!!! I know you have to be very happy 😊 We are renovating our garage into a man cave of sorts for my well deserving hubby. Making a place for his beloved pool table. We are doing all but, the AC work because of the costs. Girl we bought boards and had to go 2 weeks later to get 1 or 2 more and they went up $9 us dollars a board....crazy. I know you will find just the right color for your cabinets, you have Great taste ❤️
I love the light, bright kitchen. I have a laminate fake black granite, counter like your, and a center island and a credenza/buffet...all black. It just sucks the light out of the kitchen. It's in really good shape, I just don't like the dark color. Even with a big window above the credenza, it's like a cave on a cloudy day. I have 28 cabinets in a maple gold color. The thought of trying to pick a color for the cupboards/cabinets alone feels overwhelming. I just stand in the hardware store staring at all the paint color cards and just leave with nothing. You've done so much, and it always looks so lovely...you're a much braver woman than me!
The countertop looks beautiful. I agree, an opening onto the garden with living space would be spectacular….Far nicer than the cost of stone countertop! (Can I say, over rated). I also had laminate countertops from our local cabinet shop installed and I love it~ I could not be happier with all of it. You were very smart not to use the contact paper for a counter refresh, always do something that will last for a long time, never a slap-happy-make-do. You are very sensible! But then we already knew that, you can do most anything and do it very well.
I really like your "new" kitchen 😁. Don't change the colour for now. Enjoy it for a little bit more and if in the long run you feel like changing it, you go girl!

Wow, what a difference the counter top makes. Great choice of color, knobs look nice too and the tap.
When you stencil the backsplash make the colors match the wall color and the cabinet color then everything will look intentional. Whatever you do, make sure you use the color black somewhere. Plus use a pattern not a floral, that covers 4 squares of tile so the pattern isn't so busy looking.

Hello Catherine! Thank you for your kitchen renovation video. I think the countertop looks lovely. I personally think the color of the cabinets look nice with the offset white countertop.Perhaps in person it looks different than in camera/video but from here. I love it. The new tap and your cabinet knobs are a charming elegance. That is what I think you should name your new kitchen.

I love it! I did exactly the same. I replaced my ancient melamine counters with white engineered stone. Mine were waaaay older than yours. It makes such a difference. PS: I have the same kettle and toaster in white. 😃✌🏻

We are renovating our garage into a man cave of sorts for my well deserving hubby. Making a place for his beloved pool table. We are doing all but, the AC work because of the costs. Girl we bought boards and had to go 2 weeks later to get 1 or 2 more and they went up $9 us dollars a board....crazy.
I know you will find just the right color for your cabinets, you have Great taste ❤️
I love the light, bright kitchen. I have a laminate fake black granite, counter like your, and a center island and a credenza/buffet...all black. It just sucks the light out of the kitchen. It's in really good shape, I just don't like the dark color. Even with a big window above the credenza, it's like a cave on a cloudy day. I have 28 cabinets in a maple gold color. The thought of trying to pick a color for the cupboards/cabinets alone feels overwhelming. I just stand in the hardware store staring at all the paint color cards and just leave with nothing. You've done so much, and it always looks so lovely...you're a much braver woman than me!

The countertop looks beautiful. I agree, an opening onto the garden with living space would be spectacular….Far nicer than the cost of stone countertop! (Can I say, over rated).
