I've read about this mod before but never saw it spelled out as nicely as you did with this video. All the part numbers and everything, very nice. Thanks for posting, two thumbs up.
No worries, I appreciate the video! I'm digging around for parts now vs. possibly welding/grinding my stock part. My kick lever is worn and the pedal sticks out at an angle leaving my boot to slip off easily.
Err, is there any reason why you should not just use the rest of the mechanism that comes with the 13061-1692 boss? By that I mean the complete 1999 KX250 kickstarter assembly, which Babbits lists for around $105. Thanks.
Yes - because what would be the point. The KX 250 kicker is about same size as KDX kicker. There would be no point in the mod. KX 125 kicker is shorter and lighter. Perfect for the KDX 200.
I ended up finding a complete 1998 KX250 kickstart lever cheap on eBay. The boss fits perfectly, the footpedal part doesn't stick out as far to the side as the OEM does, and it's much more sturdy. Unfortunately part of it sticks outside of the frame there, but it's not a problem when riding since your knee and calf cover it. All good :)
Just did this mod as well and it's awesome thanks for the video. Just wondering about the bolt that goes through and holds shift lever to boss I can get it mostly in but then it binds up the shift lever. Is there something I'm missing or is it even needed? I noticed your phillips head bolt was not in. Thanks man!
MY lever broke on a ride today...will be doing this mod ...Big thank u
Awesome

Kevin Kirouac thanks 👍
In theory if a shorter lever isn't harder to kick start then you'd want to check compression to see if you need a rebuild.
It should make it harder to kick because of the shorter length in theory.
You didn't even kick it over!!!!! Good video 👍🏻
Martyn Cowperthwaite lol. Yeah I should have kicked it now that I think about it.
Thanks for posting.
Fred Pinczuk Thanks 👍
do you have a part number for that kick lever part itself? I can only seem to find the whole 1992-1998 KX125 assembly and that's pushing $100.
heathmun sorry. I don't have that part number.

Mitchell MX why do I keep swing you on so many kx videos 😂
What's the name of the green plastic frame protector by kick start lever?
ONTHAT DOVE it's frame guard. They have them on eBay.
thanks, did an eBay search and found them for $23.
u need me to film for u because I sometimes can see what you're talking about in the video because the camera is looking somewhere else
might have to try this on my 220.

Montana 2 Strokers I took a file to the edge of the bolt and took a LITTLE material off. No issues after that. 👍🏼
HARD ENDURO alright man I was thinking the same thing! Thanks for the quick response.
Montana 2 Strokers no prob bro
What year is this KDX? and would this mod work on a 1991 KDX200 ?
KDX is 1999. I think this will work from 1995 to the last year.
Josh.
did you try it on your 91? i have a 90 i'm thinking i want to do this to.
@@hayes831 I ended up going with the complete Fredette Racing products setup and its been flawless.
wouldnt that be harder to kick over
Not hard at all. A little easier in fact because your leg is not as far out from the bike.
yeah i see what you mean my yz125 is less awkward to kick than dads 300 but with compression on the big bores wouldnt you want the longer lever?
Great information, terrible camera work.
@@TheZaxx agree. Sorry about that.
Or get a frp Kdx Kickstarter
Christopher Stapleton don’t think he makes them anymore.
Good but not see....:-)
