I've been excited to see every video since I discovered your channel because I know I'm going to get some good insight even if it's not something I'd otherwise be into. Keep it coming! And don't change the vibe your channel has!
Hi Jon, I wouldn´t buy that Coddar for so much. With a friend we have been testing several batteries we had and bought. The Coddar being 8S wasn´t tested yet. But my friend had a small GensAce that I was sure would deliver nice power being LiHV but was a deception. He had also one SMC 2600 I think from a Shop of the Netherlands but with a wrong plug and that did not deliver either. I suppose that sample was a returned one. There are mid price range good batteries as HRB or CNHL too. I have found new batteries with poor performance (huge voltage sag) and also much smaller capacity than printed. So I think you can just pick two parameters from three: cheap, performance, weight. For super performance I would try your SMCs if there was a good distributor here in Europe. But now I´m more into soldering LIIon packs with +1 cell for extra performance and very long flights. Thanks for sharing!
I know it’s going to be hard to get up north to them again. But I would love to see another collab with tail heavy productions. I love both channels and if you guys teamed up again. I bet everyone would enjoy them.
And I would also love to see you fly a P-38. It’s one of my favorite planes from the era and the one time I did get to see one fly. The elevator was reversed and it crashed. But it was a beautiful plane. And the pilot that flew it happened to do maintenance on the only f-100 super Sabre still flying. I met him and we chatted up a storm about the plane. But anyway, would love to see you fly a p-38
Great test! SMC is the best Lipo battery and it's at a reasonable price point. If you want some more budget Lipo, CNHL and Rhino are also good choices. Zippy and turnigy batteries are easier to be puffy but actually works fine...
That Coddar pack had some serious voltage sag issues the entire flight. While I now exclusively fly the SMC HV HCL packs in the bulk of my edf's I still use Liperior from time to time. Besides those two previously mentioned brands I've heard and read that Roaring Top, Admiral and CNHL Black series are pretty decent as well, but currently SMC appears to be the king.

The battery specs marketing train is pretty corrupt. True C ratings should be mandatory, anything over 60c real world is an extremely amazing battery...
As someone that that moved from the rc airplane hobby to the FPV drone hobby. I am astounded by the crappy batteries that people use and accept in the rc world compared to FPV. Stuff like the expensive, low C rating poor quality E-flite and spektrum packs is absolutely terrible to the high performance batteries used in the FPV world.
Spektrum batteries have their place. We don't always need super high performance, and some Spektrum packs are the lightest we own which lets us pull off awesome maneuvers with certain models. Otherwise we usually recommend SMC packs because, well, we think you can see why.
Another crappy lipo brand is "Youme Power" which you can find on amazon. Their prices are okay, but their batteries are terrible. I have had multiple lipos from them and they've all falsely advertised their specs/perform terribly. For example, their 6500mah 60c battery would look big enough to convince you that it truly is a 6500mah 60c pack, but when you take it to fly, it performs like a 5000mah pack. On a side note, Hoovo batteries are probably the best ones I have used. They're priced fairly on amazon, and they perform amazing. Comparing it to the Goldbat batteries I usually fly, they perform better for around the same price.
When it comes to low priced Lipos found on Amazon most of them are not made with 100% LCO for the cathode to reduce price but this in turn reduces performance. It's not alaways true you get waht you pay for but in some cases it is.
