I clicked on the video expecting one of those fake restoration videos that have been so popular lately, but instead found a work of art. This is truly beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Not gonna lie, when i clicked the video i thought it was just gonna be some random amateur youtube filling in a worn down poster with a colored pencil. Wasnt expecting this professional restoration demonstration.
🥰
Glad you didn't lie
I don’t understand. In my 50 years of life, every time I’ve put water on paper, it has warped and melted and died. What in the world is happening here? This is like fire freezing something.
Thank god i'm not the only one who is completely baffled
@@Shiftarus there’s at least three of us… Because I’m flummoxed
I suppose since it has that plastic sheet giving it structure, and then squeegeed/ mounted taut to the canvas so wrinkling wouldn't be a possibility.
Id also assume they go about it on a case by case basis, like if they were dealing with something using water soluble ink.
you can wet a paper so long as it's on a flat even surface that supports its shape. in order for it to dry flat you then have to weigh it down (or glue it I suppose?). paper warps when you let it dry without support because the fibers spread out unevenly.
not an expert though.
The force is with her, always…
I have some experience with the colored-pencil method of filling in crease lines from when I was a custom framer, and I must say the layering of colors in the 3:40 segment was magnificent.
Watching that close up colored pencil work is so thrilling for some reason.
all that work for such a short glamor shot. gotta give us at least a full minute to revel in the end result
Noted ☺️
As a poster and art print collector, as well as being an artist myself, I absolutely loved watching this process. The meeting of science, art, and craftsmanship is awesome. Subscribed!
Glad you enjoyed it 🥰
I gasp when I saw water being added, to clean it, not gonna lie, considering what water does to paper but this was sooooo well done. I love this
🥰
I was like Why are you adding water .. wouldn't that ruin the paper... good work.
Artist's work in the service of the preservation of cinematographic heritage. Hats off to Madame !!
🥰
Excellent work! Can you restore the rest of the franchise next?
Just yesterday i was randomly wondering if anyone was out there restoring works of art on paper. Now I know it exists for prints!
If only you could've gotten to the Halo 3 poster in Colorado before they recently took it down. Super cool work !
Damn right you showed off that laser pencilling. Those colors are so hard to do. This was an amazing watch.
🥰
A true understanding of colours and materials, and a genuine joy to watch.
When I think restoration I imagine something brought back to the quality when acquired.... but this has been restored to when it was just printed! Amazing.
Seeing so much love being put into the restoration of one of my favourite posters made me very happy, and as an artist myself I could really appreciate the battle with the pinks and other colours in that laser beam to get it to blend. Awesome work, now subscribing! 👏👏👏💯
🥰
The skillset... definitely subscribed...👍
🥰
My ANxiety Shot up when i saw water being Sprayed onto this... Incredible work
Thank you 😊
@@FourthConeRestoration Im going to Bring People over from Reddit Here
I have an old iron maiden tour poster that was hanging on the ceiling of my old garage from the previous owner. That thing could really use some love and care like this.
The combining of unexpected colours is astonishing.
This is so cool and satisfying. Doesn't soaking the poster like that make it really easy to accidentally tear?
thats where the mylar sheet comes in to hold everything in place..once the paper dries it will be strong and the mylar will peel right off...i did this to a few old maps....the mylar is key.
Better than my attempts as a kid, just using a black Sharpie!
Thanks yt algorithm ❤ liked & subbed. Especially loved the pacing of it, no rushing through with fast cuts for the pencils part.
Thank you 🥰
Love seeing this process in action.
Thanks for sharing these videos!
Seriously fascinating process! Thank you for producing this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I personally like the cracks. What a beautiful restoration 😊!
A lot of work & true craftsmanship, well done. Great video 😊
Wow…People with amazing skills always amazes me, Amazing!
Cannot understand how that just doesnt destroy the poster, paper and colour. Very impressive
For that kind of videos it's worth to watch youtube. Something peacefull, entertaining but also educative.
That is absolutely amazing work and talent 😭 and my favorite movie of all time too
Now that's what I call using the force! Amazing
Utterly stunning work.
Thank you 🥰
I really wish I know somebody in my area who could do this……This is increadible !
This is one of the most beautiful movie poster ever. You did an amazing job.
Thank you 😊
It's just like digital restoration in photoshop but in real life. So cool. I bet this is immensely satisfying work.
Wow… great job, nice skill
Thank you!
Awesome!
What a great work! Greetings from Chile
🥰
Amazing work!
Thank you for the flashback to my youth!
Rian Johnson should watch this, to understand how cherished and valuable Star Wars is for some.
Very much enjoyed this. Amazing work!
Thank you 😊
that's pretty awesome
Amazing work. Had no idea this was even possible for paper. Thought it at least needed to be on canvas.
Beautiful ❤
Thank you 🥰
Really fascinating. Always wondered about the mounting process. And surprised that you showed the meticulous cosmetic touch up with the various Prismacolors.
this is so satisfying.
Such a beautiful quad. Wish I had this version instead of the awards one.
Impressive
I like seeing posters looking aged and used .. it adds character .
Beautiful poster and another great job by you guys! I have the tall version of this poster framed in my office. Cherished every day. Star Wars forever ❤
May the algorithm be with your channel. Fantastic work and very soothing to watch.
This is amazing. Fascinating and relaxing to watch! Subscribed 😊
Thank you! 😊
Extraordinary work! Just hopping you are appreciated by clients for such a detailed work!
Looks like brand new 💗
I have Japanese posters and i only have one Belgian, they are really fragile paper because they are so thin, all are 80s posters 😊 Taking the Belgian one which is Scanners to Comic con to be signed by Michael Ironside, have to keep it clipped to the frame back
Totally impressive, didn’t know this was a thing. Awesome work. Wow just wow!
Thank you 😊
Human touch will never be replaced
Perfect
🥰
Love- love the Before and After!
That turned out beautiful.
Wonderful restoration
Very satisfying, both the process and the result!
Generative Fill in real life form! Great work!🤘🏻
Such artistry! 👍👍‼️
🥰
UA-cam recommendations got it right today.. wonderful stuff, looking forward to bingeing the rest of your videos
So kind 🥰
wow... just WOW!
It's hypnotic to watch this process and I always want to watch more. Great work.
That was an incredible process and technique. But I could swear the color looks ever so slightly faded on the AFTER photo.
Attach of the crayons... Great job. I was a bit worried at the start with the water and bleach treatments on a paper poster...
I do like that the creases are removed, but prefer the tri-fold lines remain unpainted. I don't know. It gives a bit more charm and helps it to retain its authenticity. Masterful work but that is just my opinion.
I just wish you could clean disney out of star wars with this technique.
Good vid! Nice narration, closeups, and steps back 👍
Thank you 😁
Amazing. I wish I had some old posters to send you.
🥰
C’est top , je ne connaissais pas vive you tube
❤❤❤
🥰
Pretty amazing work.
I love watching you guys' work & the outcome is always awesome! George The GlassMan
Thank you 😊
crazy u guys have a full process of persevering the paper. wonder who thought of that
This is the most satisfying thing I've watched in a very long time. Awesome work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think it might be worth mentioning in future videos, for the benefits of idiots like me, that the posters are mounted on Linen Paper.
I was of the impression that linen was exclusively cloth, so I was confused when you mentioned mounting the poster onto paper, but then called it linen later on. I had to google to find out you can get linen based paper.
We are working on a video explaining linen backing and it's benefits! For our process specifically, we mount an acid-free barrier paper onto the linen before mounting the poster. Hope that clears it up a little!
Pretty cool work. I have your next project! It’s an X-Men animated series poster I got from Pizza Hut in the 4th grade. I can’t bring myself to trash it. 😆
❤
Mesmerizing work! It got me thinking, what if the poster is printed on both sides? How different is the process?
Depends entirely on what the client wants done! We do have other processes to flatten the paper without covering the back as well 😊
Amazing
Finally, a woman that wants to protect and elevate Star Wars! Beautiful job.
I've been watching fine arts restoration and conservation on the Baumgartner Restoration channel for years and I'm surprised that you'd use something like paints and colored pencils. I would have thought you'd want something reversible. Hosing it down with water was also surprising but I don't know how durable this poster paper is and it seems like you got a favorable result.
All of our restoration techniques are reversible 😊
@@FourthConeRestoration I'd love to hear more about how it is reversible!
Beautiful work as always! I love the UK Quad format, that wide horizontal frame always feels epic.
What is the largest size that you're able to restore? 3-sheets? 6-sheets?
Wow what an amazing job! Lovely video too. Can you do this if the poster has been signed or will the ink from the signatures bleed?
Yes, we work with signed posters all of the time! We test each signature and adjust our process accordingly 😊
If you're using water based paints for restoration, does that mean those colors will wash out if you ever had to restore it again?
How the heck does the paper not disintegrate under all that water and squeegeeing? Shocked
If you do it, it is called alteration. But if you pay $2k to get it done. It is restoration and adds more value
Hey, it turns out this wasn't a clickbait at all! 😱.
SO RAD! As a SW Fanboy I'd rather watch this then what's on Disney+ right now! lol
🥰
Your work is awesome. Your restorer's attention to detail is phenomenal.
The 1 dislike must be a Disney exec.
😂
New subscriber, Im sure this has been answered before but how come the water based solutions don't cause any bleeding? Are there certain inks or printing methods that cause ink to bleed or is there something to do with the water solution that prevents ink bleed?
you do incredible work. just out of curiosity, how much would you chare for a job like this?
Pretty work. MTFBWY
I’d sell my son to own that poster!
