I didn't read the light novel but i do believe in the Manwa durri ng that arc they do say they visited that place but couldn't finish the job with them group they had... It was weird when I first watched it... But then rememberd that conversation and just assumed they wanted to give some context to when that arc is animated
I read the books, but never read the manhwa. Seeing this brought to life has given me so much joy! Theyve done the first episode so well and im glad new people are finding this
Probably the origin of publisher will dictate if it was manhwa (KR), manhua (CN), manga(JP), or comics(global) and the Format. But the obvious difference of Manhwa and Manga was the release frequency and the artstyle. Most manhwa are released weekly with fully colored pages and the orientation of reading was scrolling down while the Manga are Monthly releases with greyscaled pages and the reading format was from left to right. The Comics could be fully colored and some are grayscale which common format was to read from left to right.
Solo Leveling, also known as Only I Level Up based on its Korean name, is a light novel and then manhwa focusing on an alternate reality in Korea plagued by monsters from another world.
If the entirety of this series is animated, and you guys watch it, you’re gonna look back on this and laugh. Seeing people watching something you know already is always exciting. Hope you two enjoy Solo leveling:)
For Ron talking about Frieren: Actually the names of all characters are some abstract things, like Fern - distance, Himmel - sky, and Frieren herself is something like "the feeling of mellow when you're freezing" or simply "freezing". Arguably, can be interpreted as "how to remember people" because anime is talking about the passage of the time.

I find it crazy that people can still say it’s just “a little goblin” after seeing literal bullets from an automatic rifle bounce off of it’s skin. Makes me appreciate the manga/show even more, cuz it also points out how much regular civilians underestimate the “magical beasts” meaning they were kinda right(the writers). When you grow up believing something and it doesn’t match the reality, your mind makes a new reality and you stick to it even when the opposite is right in front of you. Humans are known for the trait of naïveté, so it makes since why they could predict that sorta attitude, but I still appreciate the manga’s continuity. It’s not a fantasy world, it’s beasts from a fantasy world coming to our world.. huge difference.
This is one of the most anticipated series of 2024. Another one you might try is The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic. They both came out this week and they're both really good series.
I'm indescribably hyped that you guys are watching this. I've read the manhwa and all I can say is you guys are in for the ride of your life. Hopefully you guys love this as much as I do. Welcome back and keep up the great work!!
@@needum9212 The story is pretty simple and straight to the point, nothing too serious. But the hype is pretty unreal with the buildup, and scenes elevated by the godlike drawing ( Manhwa ) . I like it that the art style is very similar between anime and manhwa, I didn’t really know there’s an anime for this I was informed about a rumor during the pandemic.
In my opinion what determines whether a graphic novel is called manga or manhwa is the language in which it was first adapted, and most likely if the language is Korean the author is Korean. fyi there is another type of graphic novel called manhua whose initial language it is adapted from is chinese
Solo leveling is one of the greatest things I’ve ever read including mangas. Yall anime only reaction channels have NO IDEA what you’re in for. This is going to be one of the greatest things you’ve ever seen, if they stick to the manwah. It has a chance to be much better than even demon slayer.
I did not expect you to upload your solo leveling reaction to youtube this early. I've been missing out on you guys a lot. Wish you all the best. Let's enjoy this series together!! Lezzgooooooo
It's the language the OP is released in. It also has very specific art styles and tropes. Avatar is widely known as a cartoon that was influenced by manga art styles but since it was written by non-asians, released in the US, and the original language is English, it's a cartoon. If a Japanese person wrote and drew a graphic novel in Korea and the language was Korean, it would be a Manhwa-check/Webtoon. Think of all the animators for Simpsons and anime release in Japan. There are lots of Koreans working on the animation but the medium is based on the language/country it is released in initially.
From the scenes I've seen so far, A1 would be adapting the ln version so the pacing would be fire as hell. Been waiting for this for so long and I'm glad you get to watch this too and enjoy it with the rest of us 😊
Yes it's tied to where it's from usually , but also they differ in some aspects . Manga, Manhwa, and Manhua (chinese) have distinct art styles and layouts . Even when the lines are sometimes blurred by its authors . Manga is traditionally published in black and white to begin with . Manhwa and Manhua often get released in color , especially when they went all in with digital formats. But other than that , while rare , you can definitively have manga from Korean artists and authors . Boichi , the south korean author of hit manga series like Sun Ken Rock and Dr Stone is a great example of that . There also fringe cases of books published outside of Japan being treated like genuine manga (then again they do entirely follow the editing codes and tropes of the genre) . Like the successful manga "Radiant" from french author Tony Pereira , initially published in France . it even got an anime series from Japanese broadcasters and studios .
You nailed it with the critics: they are searching for complexities and different characteristics, but solo leveling is the best at what it is. And you will see it in around 10-15 episodes.
There's a Korean man living in USA who wrote a comics in the style of Korean manhwas with inspirations from manga. It's called The beginning after the end. I've argued with a person what to call it, to me it's a manhwa xD
I am new. I like watching people's reaction to episode 6 of Solo Leveling. Depending on how they react to it. It gives me a good idea if I will like their personality.
as far as your questioning of how this came about in this world it is explained towards the end of the web/light novel. the web novel is complete and is one of my favorite reads. the manhwa and anime are following the same story line so far.
here for the first time cuz of solo leveling just like you said already. im watching the series myself aswell obviously but will definitely watch you guys reaction to it also
I think the biggest difference between manhwa and manga is that manhwa was specifically made for phones so every chapter is a long drawing that you can scroll down through, while manga panels are divided by pages and were made for print/book
Dude, Korea has some bangers in the Urban Fantasy Genre. Solo Leveling might be the best one but Omniscient Reader and God of High School are great manhuas too
Its good to seeing your reacts again, im here because JJK and Demon Slayer and I miss these animes, but im happy because you are reacting to Solo Leveling too, greetings from Mexico
I was watching this wondering if you guys would have realised it was Hiroyuki Sawano who done the music. I forgot he was doing it and as soon as I watched this episode I was like ‘this music sounds like AoT’ 😂
Manga: - is read from right to left, top to bottom - is in panels, so the artwork is limited to panels of squares/rectangles, very crammed, restricted to page size - can have more stylized/exaggerated art styles - is in black & white with grey shadings - have story arcs and continuous releases, no breaks in between Manhwa: - is read in a long strip format like a scroll, read left to right - no panel restrictions, more 'breathable' to read, uses white spaces as part of the artwork - more realistic art style - has colored pages - have 'season 1, 2, 3'.. etc, have a couple months in between each 'seasons' for break/rest
Both are correct, but the main reason is because the "mana radiation" of the gate awaken some people ,thats what happen in manhwa if im not mistaken, correct me if im wrong
10 years ago, we got virtual game anime genres such as SAO. Then, The Isekai genre has taken the eyes of people for more than 5 years. Then, The GATE genre will take the attention for the next years. :) The GATE genre is happening in the real world where a gate to another dimension or dungeon appears and a hunter profession or job exists.
Simplest way i can answer the manga vs manhwa question. 1. Manga is Japanese and from what I've seen is always in black and white. There are probably a few exceptions. As well as in like print form. Not for every series though. Think of AOT. Isayama is Japanese, but the content is European. However the style is in Black and White, released in Japan and originally in Japanese. 2. Manhwa is Korean and is usually in color, and like most of it is in digital form. There are a lott of manhwa that take place in Medieval Europe but are written by Korean writers and artists but they would be considered Manhwa.
They are adapting the anime from the light novel too so it’s probably going to be better than the manhwa because additional content will probably be added
When you said it was about games I totally laughed out loud🤣, anyway enjoy the anime, I read the light novel of this one years ago and definitely was one of the first manhwas I read. My favorite game is also Harvest Moon!!!!
First off, I'm so glad you guys started on this series/show. This is a masterpiece and much looking forward to all the eps with y'all! Second, I also fvcking love Baldur's Gate 3! It is such an amazing game. What classes do you guys play?
I really think the graphic novels in the US vs Manga vs Manwa have very different paneling structures and styles. They are all generally drawn differently, colored differently, and the characters usually look highly specific to the medium. I think what matters is how the story is conveyed in conjunction with where it’s released. The boondocks comic looks closer to American serial comics but the cartoon generally mixed Japanese anime and American animation traditions. But I feel each one has its stylistic identity.
The way they rank the gates is by using a magic measurement artifact which catches the magic output of the dungeon boss thus resulting in the gate’s rank, the higher rank the gate the higher the demand for hunters on that rank and forbidding lower rank hunters from entering because they won’t stand a chance.
Manhwa manga and comics are determined via their style and not the artist or country of origin. Manga is usually black and white and has panels while manhwa is more scrolling up and down, while comics have panels but in a diff style
Michelle and I are HUGE gaming nerds. So this show is already SUPER INTERESTING! Hyped for this journey!

You are going to love this
There's a Korean man living in USA who wrote a comics in the style of Korean manhwas with inspirations from manga. It's called The beginning after the end.
I've argued with a person what to call it, to me it's a manhwa xD
This is from a korean manga/ light novel. Korean should make more anime like the japanese since they have so many great manga just like thsi anime
Also, no one mentioned, but "My instant death ability is OP" is a bomb light novel! It just ended as well, and the anime is out!
I am new. I like watching people's reaction to episode 6 of Solo Leveling. Depending on how they react to it. It gives me a good idea if I will like their personality.
It’s as good as the Manhwa, can’t wait for the smile.
Wellcome back! Was pretty excited to watch ur reaction
In the future of series, you'll know the reason why there is magic, why gate exist, etc. it's a good series.
as far as your questioning of how this came about in this world it is explained towards the end of the web/light novel. the web novel is complete and is one of my favorite reads. the manhwa and anime are following the same story line so far.
i'm at the 43th chapters on manhwa and i'm soo excited for the next episode !!!!!
From my understanding korea is big on games so alot of korean stories have game elements in them @4:40
when he started dancing xD @19:09
Manga 漫画/マンガ - Japanese
Man hua 漫画 - Mandarin/chinese
Manhwa 만화 - Korean
Basically all sound similar and literally translate to comic book
here for the first time cuz of solo leveling just like you said already. im watching the series myself aswell obviously but will definitely watch you guys reaction to it also
I think the biggest difference between manhwa and manga is that manhwa was specifically made for phones so every chapter is a long drawing that you can scroll down through, while manga panels are divided by pages and were made for print/book
I read the manga and this show is going to be insane
solo leveling will be goated. top 2 mangas imo
Bro I am so happy this got an anime adaptation
I was watching this wondering if you guys would have realised it was Hiroyuki Sawano who done the music. I forgot he was doing it and as soon as I watched this episode I was like ‘this music sounds like AoT’ 😂
Glad you guys did a reaction to this.....best manhwa/manga everrrrrr🔥🔥🔥
im new was drawn to your channel by this reaction, already subbed! you guys are a cute couple thanks for the reaction and pls continue this series!
You can also read the manhwa after you watch each episode after. To experience manhwa
its so good seeing u guys react to this show
Manga:
- is read from right to left, top to bottom
- is in panels, so the artwork is limited to panels of squares/rectangles, very crammed, restricted to page size
- can have more stylized/exaggerated art styles
- is in black & white with grey shadings
- have story arcs and continuous releases, no breaks in between
Manhwa:
- is read in a long strip format like a scroll, read left to right
- no panel restrictions, more 'breathable' to read, uses white spaces as part of the artwork
- more realistic art style
- has colored pages
- have 'season 1, 2, 3'.. etc, have a couple months in between each 'seasons' for break/rest
3:27 International anime productions fall under Scott Pilgrim/ Avatar rules.
8:08 the gates appeared and when that happened people with powers also appeared
No. The gates appeared and regular people had powers awaken in them.
Both are correct, but the main reason is because the "mana radiation" of the gate awaken some people ,thats what happen in manhwa if im not mistaken, correct me if im wrong
@@burnyboi I mean that’s the same thing
10 years ago, we got virtual game anime genres such as SAO. Then,
The Isekai genre has taken the eyes of people for more than 5 years. Then,
The GATE genre will take the attention for the next years. :)
The GATE genre is happening in the real world where a gate to another dimension or dungeon appears and
a hunter profession or job exists.
Can't wait for you guys to get more episodes to react to it. It will blow your mind away especially sung drip woo glow up bro loooking so good
"What triggered the change in the world?" YOU ARE GOING TO GET MINDBLOWN BY THE REASON fr. It seemed simple, but it's complicated, yet it's simple.
Just one of the creators has passed away :( I'm super happy their work is being animated it is so good
Glad y'all liked my performance
The way they rank the gates is by using a magic measurement artifact which catches the magic output of the dungeon boss thus resulting in the gate’s rank, the higher rank the gate the higher the demand for hunters on that rank and forbidding lower rank hunters from entering because they won’t stand a chance.
Manhwa manga and comics are determined via their style and not the artist or country of origin. Manga is usually black and white and has panels while manhwa is more scrolling up and down, while comics have panels but in a diff style
Always the best reaction ❤
I just watched the first episode, I’m hooked!
Is the full reaction out in patreon?
