Absolutely gutted when I heard. I knew he was ill. Took England 🏏 into the 21st century and could/should have played in Ashes 2005. Very, very fine batsman. Top bloke to boot.
Graham Thorpe was one of those batsman that you knew the opposition would have to work very hard to get out. I enjoyed watching him bat. So sad when I heard the news. RIP fella.
Aussie here. If I had to pick a batsman to bat for my life, it'd be Steve Waugh. After him it would be Graham Thorpe. I really respected him as a player - tough and hard to get out. A fine player and so sad that he's no longer with us. RIP.
This is bittersweet. I loved watching Thorp. As an English fan, I was so proud of his mix of bottle and flair. Must mention Warne as well - was gutted when he died.
Thorpe was a class apart in that generation of English batters like Ramps and Hick who promised much but failed to deliver. On a related note McGrath was still pretty unpolished as a test bowler early in his career. Took him a while to hone in on his metronomic length that batters found hard to pull.
This was the test in which it all took off for Ooh Aah: 6 wickets, Atherton both innings, and then the historic Caribbean series immediately thereafter.
Rip Thorpe. After Aussie cricketer Shane Warne,s sudden demise. This is 2nd dramatic loss of a key cricketer. If you are a vintage Cricket fan you surely know this man. During mid and late 90,s England was not a strong team. Those days England was an average team. But Graham thorpe was not an easy guy to give his wicket. He was a true hard competitor of that weak English side those days. He set the standards of batting in that phenomenal era. Cricket fraternity will surely miss this gem. Love from Pakistan
Cruel how he wasn't in the test team more but they had a fair few players going around. It would've been Blewett or Jones but selectors had their way and Jones never got another look in after this
@@bradfooks4485 Jones was a shocking non-performer against the top opposition when it actually mattered in test matches. Not a single solitary even half ton in 7 non-dead rubber tests against the West Indies, in 16 such tests against West Indies, Pakistan and Hadlee, Jones reached 50 in just one of them, Adelaide 1989-90, a draw. He was a flat track bully.
RIP Thorpey. As an Aussie, one of my favourite English batsman.
He was class! Also one cool customer and a great fighter. As an England fan this news has hit me quite hard.

@@lingolarker9318Me too. Shocked. Gutted.
@@RalphBrooker-gn9iv Loved to watch him bat. He had flair but was a real fighter, too.
Me too.
Great Batsman Thorpe ... Never Forget... always in heart..! fans from Sri Lanka .
Such a magnificent player of that era . RIP sir , you’ll be remembered.
Fantastic batsman...always rescued England whenever needed..alongwith Robin Smith.
Not against Warne, Robin Smith didn't.
Very sad Not just why but how!!!!!
RIP Graham Thorpe. Sadly, missed from fans in New Zealand.
Typical Thorpey, many of us shedding a tear. Play all of these great innings.
Thorpey and Warney RIP
RIP Thorpe. My inspiration as a young left hander in the 90s.

RIP Thorpy. Thanks for the memories. Loved watching you being one of the few English players who played the ball on the up - Brilliant!
As an Aussie, had great respect for Thorpe and Gough. RIP. Gone far too soon.
Both are english men caucasians too 😊
This is bittersweet. I loved watching Thorp. As an English fan, I was so proud of his mix of bottle and flair. Must mention Warne as well - was gutted when he died.
No doubt, one of the greatest inning's like to see again and again. Thanks U.Tube also for that kinds of collections🏏
Sad news - he was a proper cricketer
Pain to see this , my childhood witnessed his quick stroke plays. RIP ❤
Thorpe was main reason for England cricket 🏏 revival wen it was fast declining in late 90s early 2000s😊
Rubbish. Michael Vaughan was the main reason.
RIP class act
I was there that day amazing innings So sad to hear the news R.I.P Thorpey

Jack Russell wasn’t picked for this tour originally surprised to see him in the dressing room.
RIP Graham Thorpe.
Great player!
That is a very young Ooh Aah.
Rip 😢
Amazing to see cricket when they used the whole outfield rather than bringing the boundaries in.....no chance of flipping a 6 back into play to catch.
So sad R.I.P. 🥹💔
RIP😢
Is that out?
Not sure Healy had the ball in the hand in which he took the bails off.
What was the result of this match?
Billy the kid on the thumbnail, but not in the footage!!!
Rip thropey
Such sad news
Poignant.
