- John Mayer reveals who his hit 2001 track, ‘Your Body Is a Wonderland,’ is really about on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast. Fans have long speculated that Jennifer Love Hewitt, whom John dated around the time of its release, inspired the track.

Never understood how the urban legend of the song being about Jennifer Love Hewitt started. The album came out in 2001 and he was performing it live way before he met her.
I believe a lot his earlier songs are about her. I think John Mayer is probably trying to save face since the relationship didn’t work out .
His maturity comes through well. He has a strong sense of self aware.

What does he mean by someone who can put up with the hard stuff. Define hard stuff because if you want a relationship you have to know how to treat your partners and not be a psycho , no one should put up with abuse .
He explained that hard stuff was just the normal ups and downs throughout a couple’s relationship. He understands that the honeymoon phase isn’t forever and just wants someone where they have an equal understanding of not wanting to give up on each other when they go through the less exciting phases or rough patches.
When JM talks about staying with someone through the tough stuff he's nit referring to abuse situation. I'm sure if it was abuse he'd want that person to break off the relationship

That's actually a very cool thing to say that the hottest thing is when couples are having problems but stay together anyway. So old fashioned but so for real to not give up on each other.
Well, what kind of problems are we talking about? Because if it involves cheating, then you shouldn't stay with someone who cheats on you. You should know your worth and walk away from that. And if a couple is constantly fighting, I don't think it's healthy to stay in that relationship either...

He filed a lawsuit against The Office USA for them singing the song on their Christmas show. For me I wouldn't have known about this song. Sometimes we follow artists because we saw their music in a series we were watching. Everyone wins. Don't see why the artists want millions for something that is free advertising.
