    Hey we learn from our mistakes! Great video!

    Sir. I noticed when you started the back half, you never put a wax release on the fiberglass half. That's why your mold was breaking apart. Seal and release everything when working with resins. Try it out.

      Thanks for the advice! Yes iv learnt that now and released everything ever since!

    I guess I want to see your next videos , because i forgot your resin broke . Can’t wait for more uploads until then I’ll be sculpting my clay !

    id love to know what you did as the base of this.. with the wood !?!?!

    • @TrashDaddy1
      @TrashDaddy1 3 роки тому

      The wood was used to lay the clay down as a barrier
      It makes it easier to make those little lips you see on the sides of the cast

    This has been a fun journey to watch. Just a tip if you care to take it, I would go epoxy/ fiberglass mold. It will be stronger and a lot less likely to break. All my mask molds and cores for silicone masks are made this way and a lot of the big silicone mask company's in the US, I know use those materials to mold their masks.

      That's just an idea though. I have enjoyed watching these videos and I know first hand the struggles we go through as FX artists. Things dont always work like we think they will.

      Thanks for the advice! While I’m hoping for people to learn from me I’m here to learn to! I’ve used fibreglass in my latest mould and it seems to be much more durable, will have a new video up soon so you’ll see how I got on with it.

    Can you write all the material in the entire description? Because it lacks several things like paint, products for silicone etc...

      Dofusien StyleTeam yeah that’s would nice some of the links don’t work as well I’m in the us and I wanted to find his clay sculpting metal tools but link is broken.

    What are you using on this process I know some use silicone , but your first base coat what are you using to capture all the detail ?

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  4 роки тому

      Hi, it’s still resin but it’s a gel coat. It’s a little thicker and captures the detail really well. I dust it with baby powder first as it helps draw the resin into the cracks and crevices

    Would it not be easier making a tough silicone mold similar to the silicone you made for the prototype mask around the clay sculpt and then make a resin mold from the silicone mold which would give you a resin full head sculpt mold and a back up silicone mold should anything happen to the resin sculpt mold ? All you would then need to do is apply the silicone to the sculpt mold to achieve the mask, this way there would be no line to to remove and I would of thought be a lot easier to work with rather that the usual method and drilling bleed holes etc.

      Ultimate Tensile this would be a great idea for making props such as limbs and heads, with the mask however I need to place the positive head form i sculpted into inside, giving me the negative of it on the inside of the mask. This helps the mask fit the wearers face better for movement and expression.

      @@creaturefleshmasks would it not have the same effect if your layering ?, the outside will become the inside, you would turn the mask inside out once done,

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  4 роки тому

      This may work for some materials but turning silicone inside out would warp the shape of the original sculpt. In my experience the best way to replicate a hard sculpture with a soft material is with hard moulds. I’m always up for experimenting though so maybe I’ll give it a go down the line!

      @Creature Flesh Masks yeah that's what I'm saying, from using a hard resin mold, layering outwards which when the mask is turned insideout it reveals the face and all the detail while the inside can be as thick or thin as you like for fit and movement, I'm sure this would work, I can't see how not and yeah i think you should try this method to see what the results are, I can't really see how it would differ from the way you did it.
      I found these vids, check them out, i think if you made the clay sculpture slightly smaller than a human head you would get some pretty good results from this method, detail and facial expressions.

    What the fuck UA-cam why didn't you notify me anyways which techniques are you going to use for the casting slash casting or are you going to get a brush and brush it on and layer it with like a cheese cloth material

      +sam studios going to brush silicone into the mould for this one but looking to make a better mould that can be poured into, new episode should be up soon!

    Never do a mould like this, those resins are meant to be use with fiberglass matt. Gel coat is brittle on its own, it needs the glass for strength and durability. Thickening it with cabosil or talc does not add strength. No offence but you shouldn't be making video demonstrating a material you clearly don't know how to use. I get it you maybe learning but there are plenty of resources out there for learning how to use materials properly. I think its great that you are making things, but it irresponsible making a video trying to tell people how to do something that you clearly don't have much knowledge about.
    Don't worry about me i am just an asshole🤦‍♂️

      T Tan Hey man, yes I found out this the hard way. I started this channel to document the process of my work that I have experience in along with things I’m still learning, I feel the failures are just as importantly show as the success, if only for people to not make the same mistakes. Iv gained a lot of knowledge from simply doing these videos and getting feedback on them from the community, giving me the ability to share that knowledge in subsequent videos. I’m definitely no expert, nor do I don’t claim to be, just having fun with a subject Im passionate about.
