  • Join me on a sports photography trip behind the scenes at the Cannondale Maluti Double 90 cycle race held in the quaint town of Clarens in the Free State of South Africa. It was another amazing day of sports photography and adventure with the Pedal Power Association.

Just when I thought I'd had enough of youtube....this gets promoted. Love photography and cycle so it's nice just hearing watching and enjoying content from a photographers point of view of cycling events. Thank you.
Great tree shot ;-) YOu need to find bigger trees ;-)
DO you prefer riders engage and interact with you as a photographer or do you prefer to capture the authenticity of the cyclists when they aren't aware or focussed on you? Generally speaking.
You obviously ride too? (apologies for the ignorance, first video so don't know much about you) but imagine the bike on the curb must mean you do lol
    Great shots.
Some of the best pics I have of myself are those when I have been at my limit or beyond it. So wouldn't ever apologise for capturing the struggle. It's what makes cycling so thoroughly rewarding. Plus it shows the character of someone facing adversity and how they repsond to it. Dig the documentation of these.
Also...as a cyclist...it's rare you get to have the same perspective of the landscape as a phtoographer or someone outside of the ride...so being able to see where we ride rather than the road only perspective.
Love the Pass shot at about 10. Just wish you'd gotten the cyclists on the far right bit of the road, about to ride up tthe pass..feel they get a bit lost where they are..but apprecaite you cant be everywhere all at once and are at the mercy of time.
(dig the calm music and to the point narration!)

Thanks for taking the time to write your kind words and thanks very much for watching.
Yes I do ride myself, but nowadays it's only mountain bikes, because of the dangers of riding on the road in what is a pretty much lawless society. I come from a triathlon background so love the swim, bike , run lifestyle.
I have to say that I far prefer it when riders don't interact with me at all, but for a selfish reason. Authentic images tend to sell a lot better than those with two thumbs up and a cheesy grin. :) If I can get the suffering and the pain on an athletes face then I'm a happy boy. (What I call the tears and vomit shots)

@@CHRIS_HITCHCOCK yup...roads a pretty vom. But as much as I think it's getting worse thankfully it's still a minute amount that have contempt or disregard for cyclsts (at least in Australia).
Yeah I imagine it much like wildlife photography/ers. You want to capture the natural state. There's no reward without suffering lol Glad to hear you're still riding...though from what i hear from friends, gravel and mtbing is more dangerous than road...just that you only have yourself to blame lol
Cheers for the reply, insight and videos again!
