I am British, but have a home in Georgia - Georgia will not be forgotten after the mistakes made in 2008, they will rise.... there are changes needed in the parliament, but there are ongoing mechanisms to correct that, and soon, I hope Georgia will also be free of the Russian oppressor. I use the word Sakartvelo, as the name Georgia was stolen by several countries, and it is the only one of that original name. When this invasion of sovereign territory is over, perhaps Georgia will lose this criminal party and the oligarch forever. Pandora Papers have many details, and there is much work behind the scenes to get this situation sorted. It is known the FSB and AltInfo operate there, and many are also complicit in the sabotage of normal democracy. There is also the situation of Misha, and the ECHR have blasted the "government" of Georgian Nightmare already, with more to follow. I do not think sanctions on certain people would be wrong, as there is no democracy, just an oligarch abusing his power, and money taken needs to be returned to the people of the country.

Many pensioners have drawn out most of their pension funds to live it up before they get too old to do so.
A lot of people have decided to retire upto10 years earlier than the official retirement age. Meaning their pension pot will be far smaller than it should be.
It's not as simple as the media make out when they talk about pensioners having to travel free on buses to keep warm.
Pensioners who are skint (a lot are not) because of many differing decisions they made in their lifetime. A lot expecting to be helped financially if they run out of money because they've decided to blow their money on end of life holidays.

Nevertheless there was heartfelt support on behalf of the British people including that which is needed most - supply of effective armaments and an effective emotional statement of support. I hope Ukraine is comforted knowing that the UK will do all it can to support Ukraine.

There was no ambiguity at all. The UK position is quite consistent that whatever Ukraine needs we will do our best to supply it. Like the specially converted Land Cruisers requested by Zelensky just a few weeks ago when Johnson visited Kyiv. We are not running this war Zelensky is. We are just providing him the military means to win while we are damaging Russia economically.
@@1chish Yes I have as it happens and one can still speak well whilst being translated. Overall I was pleased with the speech but the delivery could have been better. Sure that's nit-picking given the severity of the hour. It was well judged in including specific commitments which I think is what Ukraine is needing - we have already delivered and more is on the way. I think also the linking of our two nations in an unbreakable bond.

If they can't afford the current cost of living it's their own fault no one else's. The number of pensioners who are blowing there pension pot on luxury holidays.
The number of people that have retired early so they can have a ball in there later years. Then whinge because there pension is not enough. Your pension is governed by how much money you have put in the pot during your working life. If you have worked all your life and retire at the retirement age then your pension should be well above the basic pension. The woman Sussanne Reid mention was a widow so she should also have a portion of her husbands pension. If it's only £170 then it sounds like they both retired early. The band F council tax suggests that as well.
I am just sick of sob stories without anyone wanting to find out the reasons behind it. All they want to do is slag of the government, when really they are just managing our money responsibly under extreme conditions due to the pandemic and now Ukraine.
