The only time a single broadcast network won EVERY week in the ratings for an entire season. An ENTIRE season.
This one might top them all, in terms of sheer number of stars they got involved, and all seemingly in one place for the last scene.

cute!
Like I said in the earlier upload: I see Carson, I see Leno (but why?)... Where's Letterman?
Leno became a guest host for "The Tonight Show" after Joan Rivers left as Carson's permanent guest host for her own late night show on FOX in 1986.
@@ApotheounSAK But still; giving a permanent guest host a more prominent place in your promo than your late night-host... 😬
@@JayDeeIsMyName - As someone who was never a big fan of Jay Leno I don't understand why he was given such a prominent place in the image campaign myself, but I remember reading somewhere that some rather important people at NBC already had plans (i.e., in the late 1980s) for Leno to replace Johnny Carson upon his retirement from "The Tonight Show." Letterman, of course, eventually left NBC for CBS when it became clear that Leno would become the next host of "The Tonight Show." I also remember that Carson himself was not happy about Letterman being passed over for the job, and he even appeared on Letterman's CBS show a couple times.
@@ApotheounSAK This is all true (I also strongly advise you to either read Bill Carter's The Late Shift, or watch the HBO movie they made off it in '96, great book and pretty good movie), but I wondered because I didn't presume they'd place him, like you said, this prominently in here in 1988 (I wouldn't say the contracts had been signed by then, that would've been in the very early 1990s at most). Thanks for your thorough reply nonetheless and keep the amazing content like this coming 😊😊
Letterman didn’t like to do these promos. I think he only appeared in two of them, and in both cases his bits were recorded in his own studio, separately from the rest.
