Love your Smitty ideas! Can you address the size of your sled, and the size skis that are appropriate for that size Sled? is there a rule of thumb to follow regarding size of sled and size of skis? I have a Shapell jet sled : 54“L x 25“W x 10“ deep. The skis I bought are 67” long downhill skis. I am worried they might be too short ?
I have the same size jet sled and the skis are 180s which are about 71". I don't think a couple inches will make a difference. Might even be more maneuverable with shorter skis.
Cool sled Mark…nice build. Where did you track down the brackets that you screwed onto your skis from? What are they called? Also your 45 bend aluminum ladder pieces. Thanks, Shawn.
Thanks. Aluminum angle was sourced at Home Depot, most hardware came from local Ace. Not sure what you mean by 45 bend pieces- the risers are werner ladder offsets, and the bench is a Werner work platform with the legs cut down.
Nylon rope works like a Chinese finger trap instead of using a knot you can loop it around and fish the end inside the rope it makes a clean loop and if you fish it up the rope a bit it's super strong
The risers are ladder stabilizers. www.homedepot.com/p/Werner-Universal-Ladder-Stabilizer-AC96/100658403?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-CM-CML-GGL-D22-022_008_LADDERS-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-4035567-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NEW-PMAX&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-CM-CML-GGL-D22-022_008_LADDERS-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-4035567-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NEW-PMAX-71700000113959164--&gclid=CjwKCAjwr_CnBhA0EiwAci5sioIhOX1wOkg2RJEyOKJSTjOptSWFgEL8mKWtGk7AvSPrtFFxrSwy9BoCY9IQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
winter ice fishing road trip; 4 days and don't know exactly where we'll be or what we'll need. I firmly believe that it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. The whole point is to be prepared for anything.
That's the whole purpose of the smitty build: easy to move in deep snow. It also can haul a lot more equipment, depending on the design. I made mine intentionally big so I could move a lot of gear. I can still use the jet sled independently for smaller loads

@@marksadventureclub2121 Thanks. Yes, I was wondering about the ladder offsets. I appreciate the info. Tight lines. 👍

So its been a while since I made that video. Not sure what your comments are about.
@@marksadventureclub2121you asked if there was a better way to tie the nylon rope around the caribiner that attaches to the sled
Nice build by the way
@@madebydoug gotcha.
What are you using for cross members and where did you get them
