As a human who’s had a feeding tube through my nose, it breaks my heart seeing poor cat getting it because ugh it’s so uncomfortable and painful. 😫I really hope feeding tubes are easier going in cats than they are with humans, because mine was torture
If the cat needed to be sedated they would have place a iv Catheter and administered propofol, if that's what the DVM ordered. My boss will sometimes have them come in on gabapentin. And worse case scenario, there's always kitty magic
@@tdkage I know, but if they use water to check that they are in the stomach and not the lungs, and they happen to be in the lungs accidentlly, then that would be dangerous right?
As a nurse, I was taught to inject air while listening to the stomach with a stethoscope to check placement. We also pulled back slightly on the syringe to see if we got stomach contents in the tube. We never injected fluid until after we checked placement, not even sterile water.
@@BishoujoMegami no because if tube had gone in to the trachea they would have noticed because the cat wouldn’t be able to breath and the tube goes all the way down to the stomach so that is really unlikely:)
I don’t like it I don’t believe the cat doesn’t feel that he knows areas of the most sensitive places I’m all animals and I wouldn’t use a Vet I did that to my cat are there any circumstances
Hello, I am a teacher in veterinary education school. Is it possible to take a photo for visual purposes from your video for the textbook?

Does the cat look upset? 🙄
Can we do the x-ray and saline test first before we suture it?
Right!?! That's exactly what I said lol
What x-ray 😂
And you really don’t want it to come out while you’re checking placement.
Placement - xray - suture.. make sure to check negative pressure first before flushing
Excellent video, what are the potential hazards for the cat? is Propofol and Midazolam typically used?

Isn't it dangerous to put water into the lungs?
it's for the stomach

@@BishoujoMegami They use sterile water to prevent infection. If 3mL gets inside, they body just reabsorbs it.

Hello... Can i know the sedative used in this case. I'm a vet from India.
Lidocaine is the name in the US. Not sure if it has a different branding in India (maybe lignocaine?)
@@christinamarcet1780 they asked about the sedative, not the local anaesthetic !
@@clairelouise9269 whoops! You’re right.
Wonderful
taksyapong pusa 😎
How about super glue instead of that suture?
Surgical glue burns if your awake

Lidocaine on mucus membranes is an excellent anesthetic.
