- www.getBJJsponsorship.com - Upgrade your passion from a pastime to a profession. || Royler Gracie needs little introduction. The son of Gracie jiu-jitsu co-founder Helio Gracie Royler has always been an avid competitor, winning the World Championships, PanAmericans and the prestigious ADCC World Submission Wrestling Championships. Along with his brother Rolker, Royler now heads the Gracie Humaita association, one of the most respected and trophied competition teams in the world.
In this video, Royler shares his thoughts and feelings about the importance of competition and describes how his father Helio Gracie helped foster the competitive spirit in his sons. He also explains how his goals in jiu-jitsu have changed with age and how jiu-jitsu continues to improve and affect his life after 47 years in the game.

"the belt is just to tie the gi"
This statement is a classic.
Thank you to the Gracie family, all of them.
Royler seems like a really good, nice guy
Such a great guy. He's no different in person when you meet him. Thanks for the good vibes, Royler.
IDK. Every time I’ve seen him beat he acts like a total poor sport.
''everytime you train... you do something for yourself, that is the only time you forget about your problems... you recharge your energy for the next days''
you know whats funny? For some reason in the video I'm waiting for Renato Laranja to bomb the interview.
Intriguing. There's gonna be a tournament here next Saturday, and this video appears on my 'recommended for you'. You guys think I should compete? I'm still a white belt.
Krazy Lobster did you end up competing?
On 1:10 Wagner Moura - actor in Elite Squad movie (BOPE) :)
He played Pablo escobar! Narcos show
Respect.
Compete unlike Rener. The expert swimmer that never got in the pool.
Exley Alvarado el canon sin nombre.
It's amazing how much Royler resembles Grand Master Hélio.
Actually, Rener looks a LOT like Helio did when Helio was a young man. The resemblance is just crazy.
Jiu jitsu doesn't just change lives, it saves them.
there is a karate style in japan that has only 2 belts, white and black, you either are or you are not, that makes much more sense..!
Traditionally, the only belts were white and black; it's called the kyu-dan system; kyu ranks just wore white belts (but there were originally six grades of kyu ranks), while dan ranks wore black belts. The whole colored belt system started when a karate school in the US ordered white belts, got a whole bunch of colors, and got the bright idea of assigning a different color to each kyu rank. There are still really traditional schools that stick to the white/black belts but you have to realize that among the white belts, there are six to however many grades of white belt.
the dude from topa de elite=)
Wagner Moura

I love these videos. Legends talking about Jiu-Jitsu and (good) musical montages with footage of rolling.
I had the opportunity to be instructed by this great teacher once here in San Diego...this video gives some indication of the incredible positive energy emanating from Master Royler Gracie...just such an awesome person, as his father before him--truly embodies the essential humble spirit of the expert martial artist
Man I just had the annual seminar with Royler Gracie, got a photo with him, and he said this exact thing word by word
Fun Fact: Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) is in the video 1:10
1:09 it's that dude from Elite Squad!!
Wagner Moura
Piyush Karki wow he’s a purple belt. 👍
'The belt is to tie the gi'. Man I love BJJ.

As a college student. I can only afford to train and conserve as much as i can. Unfortunately, i cant ever compete for several years. I need the money for a better future.
Pick up a friend and drill off of basic videos. You could even join or start a college club for martial arts. Judo and Wrestling clubs are more affordable. So just keep active any way you can and best of luck.
You can put up a sign at college "looking for other poor students for bjj partners" chip in on mats. Meet early to watch vids, go over technique, roll
@@fahadkelantan yeah, wrestling teams always take extra bodies. 3 years of wrestling cost me like $300 including shoes. Can't do jiu jitsu without a takedown
I have 3 weeks in bjj and I have to concede I want to compete one day once I master the fundamentals ☺
Charly Sandoval have you competed yet?
Have you been in acompetition?
yeah its crazy. how much tougher, physically i am before a competition, it literally forces you to go to the next level. ive done 2 so far and the second was completely different from the first
Dat face at 3:18
My instructor was the first American black belt in bjj. Got it from Royler and Helio in Brazil in 92. Said Royler was a stand-up guy. I trained with him around 2008. Nice guy.
Royler Gracie speaks about competing in Jiu Jitsu. “Everyone should compete at least once. It’s amazing!”
Wow! I really judged a book by its cover 🤦🏽♂️ never took took the time to actually see how royce really is like, even off the mats the Gracie's can teach you something 🙌🏽 never knew he was so happy and I can see the love and passion about spreading and helping people on their bjj journey. Always thought he was the complete opposite for some reason 😅😭
Wheres his gym?
yea my daughter took a class here in new jersey with Royler. He signed her belt and really inspired her. I only got to speak with him for a few minutes but he is a great guy.
Yes, Wagner Moura.
Inspiring video. He exudes contentment, positivity, confidence & respect.
BJJ Hacks should consider continuing the Ask a BJJ Black Belt series.
From the outside(of the family) looking in. These people are so humble. It's crazy in the world we live in today. In that way they are truly admirable.
