She's beautiful, natural or straight. I'm a nurse and I've found that many patients who are hospitalized for more than a couple of days end up with horribly matted hair and I've been watching videos to educate myself on caring for all types of hair. Just getting washed up, hair done, and shaving can help my patients feel better sooner.

I was hospitalised for three weeks years ago. I got brilliant care in general, but the one nurse that made me feel most human and happiest in the middle of all that was the one that took ten minutes out of her day to brush and braid my hair. Your work is appreciated, whether people remember to say it in the moment or not.
I am asian w straight hair. Your video was on algorithm so i started watching it. Wow. This is like an artwork. All the dedication, time, attention, and love. I love there is such strong love from mama to her dtr. It just remind me of my old time my mom used to braid my hair. I honestly think your dtr’s hair was just perfectly beautiful as it was at the beginning, it also looks beautiful after it is straightened.

Good for you! I'm happy that you allow your daughter to express herself with her hair. In my house, there was no say whatsoever, until I was sixteen. And at the age of 46, I decided to stop doing perms on my hair and go back to being natural. My hair is very similar to your daughter's and yet, I have not found any products that work. Thank you for your considerable recommendations. I will definitely give it a try.
No problem love! There is pro and cons to it because the buns definitely breaks her hair and stunts her growth compared to if she had braids all the time

My heir similar to this. Suave naturals rosemary mint is a great detangler. Specifically the rosemary mint. Tried the others. They don’t work the same.
I use softee hair conditioner I won't use anything with sodium Laurel solfates
Pattern is great but I also recommend using a charging shampoo followed by a hydrating shampoo at least biweekly. Also I found that not using oils helped my hair tremendously.

I honestly took stuff like this for granted as a child and teen because I guess I didn't really care? Lol. But the importance of letting kids express themselves didn't hit me until I was in the salon recently getting my hair braided and a mother was literally cussing out her 16 y/o for like 10 minutes for saying she didn't like her hairstyle because it was too childish for her. Which I could agree with because I guess the mom chose the same style for her 16 y/o and 8 y/o.
And yall know black mothers no one can tell them nothing bout how to raise their kids. That poor child looked so ashamed 😞 and her morther made her apologize and said she was cutting her lunch money to make up for the 60 she paid to get her hair done. Smh

I feel like more people are having cool hair and dying it and doing cool stuff, i always wished I had that kind of hair but we all know how strict black mothers are, I’m not being racist or anything I’m black myself but girls who are able to style their hair and do whatever they want with it should be happy because they are so lucky

Be careful of damage to the front edges. Rubber bands, braids or any constant pulling tension can cause permanent hair loss.
I’ve noticed what looks like signs of traction alopecia which can be treated if caught early.
Tight braids, ponytails, buns, cornrows, dreadlocks, chemicals and extensions can cause it too.

Work in small portions of her hair and it will be fine. Also videos help and you can find an afro hair salon in your area to do the wash and straightening too.
Hair is hair. If you’re open to learning different textures as well as techniques you can do anyone’s hair. I’m just speaking about stylists.

I'm sitting here wishing I had a mom who could do hair like this when I was a little girl. But back in the 80s my mom had VO5 and a comb. She started at the top and yanked until she got to the bottom! 😵 A detangling brush would have been lovely!
Growing up and having my mom comb my hair was the worst. I like to joke us curly and coily people still have trauma from our moms detangling our hair lol

My daughters hair is really long because I keep it moisterized and I dont do it all the time. I usually style her hair once a week and the styles are really simple. Two pony tails withbthe ends braided or twisted, those types of styles are best for her hair.

My daughter also use Olaplex when she gets her hair straightened but to get their through the tangles she uses Love Beauty and Planet. It's the only shampoo that penetrates and makes detangling easy. Cute little girl hun 😍

@@DuchessBraids anytime! We were blown away when she started with just the shampoo. The slippage was everythaaaang. It's sulfate free also. We use the turmeric one in the yellow packaging 👍🏽
It’s puffing up because the curling is giving more body to her hair! Its absolutely beautiful! Try less gloss and it will be more bouncy. My husband is from India so my kids are biracial. I just do a wash, deep condition and then silk press with heat protector only. This will keep the hair straight for about a week.

My daughter has similar hair, just a little darker and a tighter coil. But the characteristics are the same, looks dry no matter what. I straightened it a few weeks back and was horrified to see how much it had puffed up at the end of the day. Thanks for sharing her styles and the tips you use for your daughter.

Her hair looks beautiful, great to let her experience what straightened hair would be like.
I remember having such stubborn curls & frizz that even straightening it there were sections that did not get straight. We even tried perming it with big curlers so the curls would be less springy lol. I'd say for me, the first month of having straightened hair was so exciting & amazing, but after that the regrowth were so obvious because of the curls & frizz and l was too young to know how to manage it.
All hair are so different and exciting to try out new things.

I do the exact same. Wash days in the kitchen sink. It's ur sink and ppl shouldn't be so pressed about where other ppl wash their hair. I clean my hair tools out right afterwards too. I wash my sink before I wash my hair and afterwards.

I can relate! My daughter has the same color and texture hair. I found the L'O'real elvive nourishing line works great on her hair. I was surprised, but the slip was amazing. Blue magic works wonders on the dry look, along with a small amount of Dudley press cream.

My hair used to puff up until I use the cool air setting on my dryer after blow drying or sitting in front of a fan to let my hair and scalp cool down. It keeps me from sweating in my roots and keeps it shiny.

Her hair looks great straightened. You did a great job. She’s a cutie. I’m 60 and I straighten my hair often as I prefer it especially after waking up in the morning, lol. What protective spray did you use and recommend? Also, when I straighten my hair and tuck the bottom under slightly so it doesn’t flip up, sometimes when I brush it afterward, it flips up and annoys me. Any advice to help that issue?
