    A MASSIVE thank you to Dethleffs UK for sponsoring this vlog. I have respected their wishes not to talk about the price as the situation is changing on literally a daily basis, and Kudos to them for not wanting to over-promise and then leave people disappointed.
    As far as the opinions and thoughts about the motorhome go, these are all 100% mine, and are not influenced by the fact that this video is sponsored. I only undertake such projects on the understanding that I am completely open and honest about what happens and what I find.

    After two summers with the standard Fiat manual in a couple of rentals (an Adria 120hp and a Burstner 130hp) we realised that the new 9 speed auto box with 140hp or 160hp was a deal breaker for us. Our 2021 Adria Matrix (couldn't quite bring ourselves to buy our fave - a Dethleffs Pulse GT A class!) has the 160hp auto, and the response time for acceleration in 'power' mode is brilliant. No more clunky gear changes and tortoise-like acceleration. Sure, it's never going to be an equal to a good car's performance, but for a motorhome, the ability to get the thing moving fast on motorway on-ramps, and other main roads, intersections etc. makes a huge difference. Thanks for the review Andrew. As I mentioned above, we prefer the Pulse models over the Trend, mainly due to the kitchen layout (better prep space), and the cupboards/finishes etc. are more to our taste. It's still a great vehicle though. A great way to do that alpine drive. The views out of the mega panoramic windscreen must've been epic!

      Cheers Jared. Good to know what people are looking out for so I can tailor my reviews accordingly. Hope you're enjoying the Matrix.

    Amazing to think you can drive that on a car licence, and 30 mpg is very impressive. Very interesting and enjoyable short version, personally I do enjoy your in depth reviews also.

      Cheers Simon! Yes, compared to the 25mpg I got towing the Airstream, 30mpg is pretty impressive.

    I preferred the "crass gash sensor" personally 🤣.....I'll get my coat. Great review video and allows me to compare to our current A class.

    Started to watch the extended review but decided to watch this one first! Great review as always! Yes, I think only a small child would be comfortable in that seat behind the passenger. Especially for long journeys! Really enjoyed this video, size 8 feet?! You're quite tall too! You have cute tootsies! What's next I wonder?! Are you planning any more trips before the Nec?! Better watch the longer version now although I've had a few proseccos and now I usually have a g&t after! May watch that tomorrow! Sending hugs xxx 😘🐕🥰

      Yes, a few trips planned before the NEC Anne, mostly the car trip delayed by the dreaded lurgy. Enjoy the G&T! :) xx

    Good review, as per usual, Andrew. I would agree with you about the Fiat 9 speed gearbox - which we have on our Hymer - it's a great bit of kit and makes driving life much easier and less stressful. You are also correct about manufacturers being very sensitive about advertising prices - largely because they have increased so much over the last year or two.

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  Рік тому

      Cheers Al. Always good to hear from someone who's lived with it for a while. I think most of us 'in the know' know that the manufacturers (and dealers) have had a tough couple of years. I was talking with one who told me that their chassis supplier suddenly slapped £2500 on the price of each chassis - and these were for already sold motorhomes! There's only so much they can swallow, so I think they will all be playing their cards close to their chest for while. What costs £70k today might cost a lot more by Christmas. Who knows? As I've always said, the payback you get from a motorhome is not financial.

      Well said, Andrew. We collected our van from dealer lst November (2021 model).. I've just checked dealer's website where they have sold the 2022 model for .... £22k more than we paid!! There are a few extras, admittedly eg. solar panels but nothing to justify that increase.

    To get a coachbuilt that big, under 3 tonnes unladen, is astonishing - makes you wonder what’s been left out 😁. Fully loading the garage, with all the weight out behind the back axle, might put the rear axle loading at risk but still …

    Appreciate that it's out of your control, but it's very difficult to judge a motorhome without a price-point as context.

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  Рік тому +3

      That's a sign of the times we are now living in I'm afraid. A motorhome is the sum of thousands of parts, the price and availability of which the manufacturers have little control. The past 24 months has changed the market a lot, and it's a case of not wanting to over-promise and under-deliver.

    Nice&Quick review Andrew. After your driving experience with mercedes engines and gearboxes and now the latest fiat, what gearbox would you choose if possible, ZF9 or 9gtronic?

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  Рік тому

      I KNEW someone would put me on the spot! Merc is more refined and feels more powerful, but you do have that annoying lag on take off. Fiat does not have that lag but feels less powerful and like it's working harder, and seems noisier. In a nutshell, I'd go for the motorhome first, and if there was a choice of Merc or Fiat, I'd probably go Merc if I had the money. BUT I would NOT rule out a moho if it was Fiat only. Hope that helps in some way.

    The payloads of many large A class and coach-built motorhomes is astonishing compared with Campers. For sure Campers could have more integrity in an accident but they can have woeful payloads….. in contrast to how much smaller they look.

    No problem with no price for me, fully understand it’s a variable figure in current market condition’s, and that is before buyers get into there own gazumping war. What I am unclear about is what comes as standard with that motorhome as far as payload is concerned. Things like the awning, the yet to be fitted oven, the bigger engine, auto box and spare wheel all carry a significant weight penalty that with continental Motorhomes is very often coming off the payload. Another 100 Kg for them and you are suddenly into an unusable vehicle for four people. New punters need to be very aware of this.

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely Eddie, which is why I always mention it with the weights. I go into it in far more detail in the full-length review. There is a payload penalty for that MTPLM. Unfortunately when this was filmed (late July), Dethleffs were still thrashing out and signing off UK specs, taking into account what they can realistically get hold of. Bob Earnshaw mentioned that there is no iNet because of component shortage, so it's a tough old game at the moment for everyone involved. Cheers!

  • @MrPWalden
    @MrPWalden Рік тому

    It’s poor form to not include the price. I get the company wanting to hide their profiteering but as a reviewer pandering to manufacturers like that brings your impartiality into question.

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  Рік тому +2

      It's not pandering, it's respecting a manufacturer not wishing to over promise and under-deliver in what has proven to be a very unpredictable market over the past 2 years. A motorhome is the sum of thousands of parts over which the OEM has little control of price fluctuations, of which there are plenty right now. Nobody likes being slapped with a price increase after putting down their deposit.
