What an amazing accomplishment! And your no frills no handwaving no excuses way of telling the story, plus being willing to film while competing is very much appreciated. You make it clear that it's all about prep, grit and determination. My favorite part is toward the end when you were about to quit, then reminded yourself nobody was mentally tougher or trained harder, I've had similar moments during events and that really spoke to me. Thank you!

I love these layout style videos! I’ve sent your 14ers gear to beginners for year I’d love to see a more winter 14er setup!

Thank you for putting so much good information out there on running and 14ers. You have helped me so much on my adventures and given me courage to do things I would have never done. I’m planning on doing my first ultra (55km) this fall and your recent videos have been a great help.

Congrats on this monumental accomplishment!!! My question for you is: how did you assemble your support team? Does the race itself give you some guidance or do you have to research that and bring your own team? Thanks for your great content!

Your crew is 100% on your own, but the race provides plenty of guidelines for how to use them/where they can go etc.

Congrats on the finish! Did you notice any of the rubber sole lugs on your Torrent 2s de-laminating from the foam? I went with Speedgoat 5s (I'm new to Hoka) after seeing some reviews mentioning durability issues with the Torrent 2s.

Hey Coleman - I have been using a few pair of Torrent 2's for about 10 months now and have not noticed any problems with de-laminating. I did have one of my three pairs have some minor separation on the toe box but this was months ago and hasn't affected performance since. I do want to try out the Speedgoat's as well but kind of in a "if its not broke, don't fix it" stage. I will say that I have really punished these shoes in terms of terrain outside of this race and they have held up surprisingly well and do perform well in scrambling/ridgeline situations as well.

I’m very curious about your decision to use torrent 2s. I’ve run a couple of 100s now and the Speedgoat 4s are the lowest cushion that I’m brave enough to use for that distance. Does the torrent provide ample cushion for that late race beating? I’ve been wanting to try them out, just didn’t want to make a mistake. I’m 6’3 210lbs

Honestly, the main decision around it was just that they worked for me during training (on the same course) and had very minimal issues with them. As I mentioned in the vid - I did swap to the ATRs for the last 38 miles for that extra cushion / width in the toebox. As you can see though - my big toes weren’t exactly in good condition at the end so may need to reconsider footwear for the next 100. But really, outside of the lost toenails, my feet were in fairly good shape otherwise. During the run - almost everyone I saw running with Hoka was wearing the speedgoats so I’m sure that’s for a good reason.
