This one hit me hard that I had to stop watching for the rest of the day. I lost my mom when I was 3 months old but I was raised by my grandparents. My grandma is precious to me, so when I finished this, I just went over to my grandma and hugged her.
Yeah, this is really hit hard, love everyone still there with us, we will appreciate them later
My grandma passed away 2 years ago just as I was about to finish my master's degree abroad. So this was hard to watch.
same here, i lost my mother a few months ago to breast cancer so one can only imagine my reaction during this episode. had to take a week long break before picking the show back up

First time I teared up when I realized that the letters were for her and when Violet revealed she had to hold back tears.
Now after watching the anime 4 times and a shitload of reaction videos I tear up in nearly every scene. This anime is so god damn brilliantly executed.

Same, I cried at the very end my first time, but after a few rewatches, I straight up cry through the whole thing. And I’m not even an emotional person, the first time I cried to a show was when I was 15, and that was to Angel Beats. Since then, I’ve only cried to 2 more things, Anohana, and Clannad Afterstory.

I like how they make Ann timeskip and then back to the day Violet return to her place, it's like Violet the one who imagines all of that.

Finally, someone else cried with this episode! I'm usually a deadpanned bastard even in the most emotional of scenes, but this episode... broke me, entirely. When animes talk about families, especially moms with their daughters, I usually become more emotionally sensitive and I really cried at the end of this episode, I really did,,

I decided to watch the whole episode with the reactors since its been a while... now I can't see with through all these tears.
Me who has already seen it myself and cried over it and just by reading the subtitles I started crying again. This is truly a beautiful anime and is my favorite of all time, it goes deep into a persons feelings and lets you feel what the characters feel. As I’m writing this comment I am still crying thinking about all the sad and loving moments this show gives. A truly wonderful show 😭❤️❤️

リアクションを見て「ほら」とドヤ顔をしようとしてたが、結局号泣しなかがらドヤ顔をして変な顔になってしまった。
my mom passed in 2011, my dad in 2016. this episode really hit close to home, but the writing is absolutey phenomenal
From the moment i saw Ann's mother lying on bed for first few minutes, I already knew what's going on. There's a lot of hints like the remarks of the visitors, the sick look of her mother, and Ann's not allowed to be with her mom while Violet writing the letters. I had also read a story similar to this scene way before I watched Violet Evergarden and ngl, I thought I was ready for it but naah, it hit me, its like a knife pierced through my heart. I cried bucket of tears since my grandma (the one who takes care of me since I was a child) passed away 2 years ago and I always think that I could've done more for her :'(
Well, this anime easily became one of my list of top 10 anime's, on par with A Silent Voice. A MASTERPIECE INDEED!

I was 50 the first time I saw this. My mom is still with me as are my own kids. But DAMN. I was ugly crying.

I already saw this episode and I cried to this lol. But after clicking on this video and re-watching it again. It still hits so hard. I really tried my hardest hold my tears back. But before I knew it, my vision went all blurry and tear drops started hit my hands and my keyboard.
Out of every sad anime or sad anime moments I have ever seen. This one will bring me to tears faster then the others. The second she read her first letter from her mother. I already knew... Then the letters keeps coming... :'(
