- We FINALLY DID IT!!! The Christmas Cave is officially cleaned out!! This has been something I have dreamed of in the past!! I never thought I was capable of Decluttering and organizing this space! But the strength to change is already within myself!!!

I just think the same thing, but maybe it will be better to reverse all bins the label sign to the walk way... like in a srore
I would consider rotating the Christmas bins 90 degrees and lining them up against the wall just like the Easter bins. Like books on a bookshelf, it is helpful to have all of the labels out and visible so when you have to dash to find one particular bin, you find it on the first try without having to move a couple of bin towers out of the way.
Honestly, I sometimes triple label boxes so that no matter the side that is exposed, you usually can read it.

I agree, I would leave an aisle way in the middle of the cave all the way to the crack with bins on either side with labels out.

Wow! I agree with Alicia - time to have a holiday cave! I even think you could line the bins up the sides of the space (like the Easter bins are now) so you can walk in and see all the labels and take out what you need without having to take everything out in layers! Amazing work and keep it up! Can’t wait to see what 2023 brings for you!
I agree. Keep decluttering with the seasons and organize back there and i bet it all holiday decor will fit in the cave in another year.

Oh my, when you let go of so much stuff from the sentimental bin, I felt so proud of you, and so, so happy! You recovered, definitely - now it is only to the organization and slowly pairing down to own only what is truly bringing joy, and/or is useful and fun.

I have spent the past 9-10 months watching your videos as I face my trauma based hoarding head on to ensure I make this move free of emotional and physical baggage! Wow! Look how clean and organized you got it! Amazing! Would it be easier to find the bins if they were all along one of the side walls with their labels facing out instead of one behind the other and blocking each others labels?
I was going to suggest that shelving around the sides would make use of the vertical space too.

I wish so much these videos were longer like the old ones. They have helped me so much! I don’t know how this beautiful, kind woman gets done all that she does, but she is very inspiring. I am amazed by the way you juggle so many categories and odds and ends. I look forward to the craft Kamari and setting up a craft area i the basement. How you debate what to keep, let go of, sell, or store is very helpful for those of us that second guess all their decisions. I’m so happy for you and your incredible progress. For your immediate family you might consider the japanese gift wrap tradition of using pretty scarfs (they are I think called furoshike), square pieces of fabric that could be reused each year.
Right before you mentioned Miss Pepper as your emotional support animal I was thinking that same thing! She is just wonderful! So proud of all of your hard work! 🎄
My kids are in their 40's. Keep tossing. You'll be glad you did. I just gave away a big bag of warm clothes. I have two boxes of books to give away. We made

I found your channel through the Minimal Mom and so glad I did. Just found out I'm a level 3 hoarder. My stuff is coming out of the closets, rooms, cabinets and I now have storage unit to house my all my holiday stuff and more. We live in a 2000 sq foot home. So seeking God's help and leaning on Dawn and you to see me through. Thank you for being courageous and sharing your hoarding journey with us. Wow, the Xmas cave is looking soooo good! You have always explained how hoarding affects you, but what about the people who live with you? How has your hoarding affected them??? It must be hard to live with a hoarder if you are the opposite, mustn't it????

I’ve moved and downsized. I decluttered using the philosophy of “use it or lose it!”
I had also stocked up on clearance wrapping paper and so I don't have to buy any for a long time! I did have to buy some Christmas bags, but I made sure not to go to crazy with them.
Can you make the Christmas cave .The holiday cave? Can other holidays fit in there.?
Is there enough room to face turn the bins the other way on each side to make an aisle down the center so you can get all the way to the back and don’t have to move bins to get to ones behind others??
Like turn them how the Easter ones are.
To keep the wrapping paper from unrolling, use elastic ponytail hair bands to put over the roll.
It looks amazing. I remember the first time you dived into the Christmas cave the first time and it was filled to the brim. You did an amazing job all while learning to listen to your emotions. I hope you are happy and content too with the amount that's left.

You might want to remove the bins that are in front of the outside decor so hubby can easily find them. You have done a fabulous job decluttering. ❤
You have come a long way from where you started. You ought to look at your first blogs and see for yourself what you have achieved. Keep a look out in your area if anyone gets rid of shelving you could put your boxes on for easier storage and access

Why don't you put the christmas tree from your parents house in a plastic bin? So that it's nicely contained and won't get damaged.

Some are suggesting to turn the bins so that the labels face you, but you could also add labels to the sides of the bins. 🙂

I'm disabled and the sole caregiver of my 90 year old bedriddem mom. I'm not a hoarder... but the house gets out of control quickly. I've been decluttering for years and this gives me motivation to keep going and hopefully it will not get to be so messy in here LOL So very proud of you my friend. 💜🦄💜
Curious. If you have already decorated your home, why are you not letting go of all the extra stuff you didnt use
also, consider taking your bins and lining the wall on the left with the labels facing out. This way it is a LOT easier to find the things you are looking for instead of moving rows in front to find things in back. You can safely stack them at least 3 high like the purple bins
A lot of people are anxious to get to perfection, but if I've learned anything, it's that progress is the important thing. Every year it gets a little bit better. Eventually, she will get there, but the stuff she's keeping today is being kept because she's not ready to let it go yet.

I'm surprised u put the bins back in a block so you can't access the back ones. I would have thought ud have put them in a u shape lining the walls. Perhaps that us the plan after the pipes are delt with and Xmas is put away

I have gotten my holiday bins down to 1 for Easter 2 for Halloween and 3 bins for Christmas. I now only have 2 Christmas trees. I used to have 5 Christmas trees.

I'm really impressed how you've emptied this out!! I would like to suggest putting all the bins on one wall, facing out, same as the purple bins. Then you won't have to move multiple bins to get to something..the big Christmas tree box might need to move 90 degrees though to make room :)
Your videos really do fill a gap between the "hoarders are just disorganized, messy people" and "hoarding is a serious psychiatric condition that requires intervention by government agencies".
Thank you again. My basement storage space has filled up again. My university age daughter keeps buying Xmas cookie jars and they take up a lot of space. Plus her things she’s gathering from gifts as loved ones are getting her ready for adulthood are also piling up. Only positive is now I’m bothered by the mess.
Just seeing this. If you rlly want to konmari method the gift wraps, you can choose 3 or 4 wrapping papers so that you can only choose one wrapping paper for one kid and another for your other kid and husband and then the 4th would only be for gifting other ppl. This would also help to get rid of name cards too (except for gifting others) in the family cuz they know which gift wrap is theirs. Food for thought ❤

You're doing such a great job! I'm not sure how important the holiday specific trays are to you but just wondering if you had ever considered investing in a tray or serving dish that's really nice and that could be used for any family gathering. And then you can make it more Holiday by adding holiday toothpicks or themed food.
