I don’t know how one can claim that the global version hasn’t been neglected the last few months. The large amount of time M2Y went unnerfed, the lack of any significant additions during and after two year anniversary, no new map, recycled Halloween event, very bad Blaziken release, no new emblems, etc. all indicate to me how little time, money, and effort is being spent on the game. I don’t care why the game has been neglected and I don’t care about China, but to look at what’s happened these last few months and think that’s all ok seems willfully ignorant:

EXACTLY. I hate when Jake posts these videos like you’re all basically crazy. And where he says Nintendo and Pokémon Co. wouldn’t let that happen… they’re allowing and have allowed it to happen without a say or without a recognition.
Yeah, it was 4 emblem updates spaced evenly every 3 months. They finished Johto emblems back in February which was 9 months ago. They also should have rebalanced the absolutely awful red and pink emblems so that most of the emblems didn’t reduce your defense. If you have to invest in 7 red, and the best color scheme you can get is 7 red/4 white, I’d hope the majority of the emblems aren’t going to leave me at -15 defense

Honestly, I've just been ignoring the Chinese stuff cause it doesn't look that great IMO. If ppl really think they've abandoned the global version, they don't understand game development & what goes on behind the scenes. China usually has different versions of many games from what I guess just to be different. The only ppl that can shutdown our version of PKMN Unite is The Pokemon Company. Remember that. They have the last say along with Nintendo.

If you've been playing since release (even with breaks) you could/should have every pokemon, almost all held items at level 30 (even tho you only need lvl20), basically every emblem
Nothing in the game is locked away or extremely hard to get for f2p players

While I don't think that they are abandoning the global release or anything, I think you're a bit too hopeful about the new stuff being added to the global version. It's very much the standard for most games that get sent to China to be completely new games with tons changed about them, so I honestly don't think any of these changes will come over. I'm not sure why that's the case, it might be needed to be able to release the games in China since they're far more strict when it comes to what games can release at all, but it's the truth nowadays sadly. The only things I think we'll get from that version are the new pokemon and holowear, which I think they'll probably continue to push to the global version FIRST regardless.
And on the argument that Pokemon Company wouldn't be okay with doing that - Pokemon Quest is a perfect example. The game released globally to moderate success, then they made a completely new version for China a few years later that continues to get updates (has all of Johto and Hoenn mons) while the global version hasn't gotten a single update past initial release. I'm not saying that's what is happening here, like I said I don't think that they will ever abandon the global version of Unite, but I don't think we'll be getting any of the COOL changes from the Chinese version either.

Understandable, everything you said makes sense. Unfortunately, we have several examples of pokemon games continuing to be developed in China, and abandoned elsewhere. Did you know Pokemon Quest has been getting updates since launch? Meanwhile we simply have the launch.
If pokemon unite 2.0 was to take over the first game, they could at least let people transfer their stuff from the original game to the new one

If a merger happens, they will definitely do a huge reset. It will get backlash and the game will die. And I play the global release all the time. Its sad to think, but maybe money is all the devs care about.
The title really scares me since i played the game Overwatch a lot but the devs abandoned the game for 5 years to work on Overwatch 2 they gave us teasers that showed insane stuff, it was supposed to be god tier level but when it finally came out we got the same game, all that was shown nothing of the big stuff actually came to the game.. they abandoned a game for 5 years to work on a game to then tease it, hype it up and then abandon the game and release it barely any different from Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 1 got closed so you can't play it anymore.. the only big change is skins got really expensive..
Lmao and anyone with a brain is gonna just freely play it maybe spend the 10 or 20 but you can see these games won’t last like Fortnite has I don’t see unite lasting 5 plus years with this bs formula 6 weeks you get a bug fix then another 6 weeks you get a small set of buffs and nerfs that usually leave the game in the exact same state for 6 or 7 months then we get a noticeable patch that is ultimately still the same game year 2 we don’t even get a new map got 1 new quick match mode that mediocre and still all items are the same for over 2 years I’d argue that people who play unite are just broke or have no system because why would you play unite so much knowing you could come back after 6 months to pretty much the same game
Timi has conditioned us to expect the worst possible decision at every turn. The rumors gain credence when you consider their track record for not making clear and obvious improvements.
I highly doubt they would just abandon the global version, there is an entire e-sports community around it so that just wouldn’t fly. The most that will happen is perhaps a merger with the Chinese version further down the line; and as long as I can keep my account and everything I’ve earned on it over the years then I really wouldn’t care. In fact I would welcome some new content, don’t be so afraid of change people.. it’s how things grow and evolve 🤷🏼♀️

There's no way that the Chinese version will go global. Good odds that software is collecting user data for the Chinese government.
The Chinese Airbnb disclose the app sends user data to the government.
That's likely the only way apps are allowed to operate.

It's a Chinese beta, I mean we keep saying beta. Same as the release beta only existed in Apac 2 years ago, China has a massive player base, and they are using the new region to test out stuff that will come to a global re release version when ready, granted the competition season is coming up soon so they need to kick it in gear, but the stuff I'm seeing in China makes me very hopeful for the grand changes coming to unite

Yeah it makes no sense what people are saying about them abandoning our version or that we aren't getting anything at all from the improvements we see in the Chinese Beta, considering that:
1) a lot of improvements are direct answers to OUR feedback
2) most of the changes have nothing to do with China's regulations, they're just gameplay changes
3) it would invalidate the chance for China to play in Worlds if their game is completely different
4) it explains why our version has been stalling a bit, probably because there's a lot behind the scenes to release when the schedule is set
5) a lot of the recent Pokemon spin-off games went through reworks at some point. Pokemon Masters becoming Masters EX and Cafe Mix becoming Cafe Remix for example

If the Smash Bros leaks has taught me anything, it's people will jump to conclusions and get way to invested in theories based off limited info. After the Grinch leak, GameXplain started using it a lot as a "leak" that turned out to be false and had everyone fooled, and seemed to bring it up at every chance they could. All I commented about on a video once was no it didn't have everyone fooled and why they kept bringing it up. Got a response off someone claiming I was trying to brag or think I was smarter than others (can't remember exactly). So yeah, people can get way too invested in something and feel personally attacked if anyone dare criticise it.
My personal view on Pokemon Unite China, based off what I heard about other games having to make changes to release in China, I'm not too surprised, and there are plenty of games with different versions that seem to be doing fine, RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, WoW and Classic WoW. If anything Unite would probably even be better off than those, because like spragels said the Chinese version off Unite is likely using assets from the existing version, so who's to say assets made exclusive for the Chinese version can't be reused in the other version?

If devs really care about global version, why we still don't have a draft mode in ranked? Chinse version got it day one. Why we have a worse expierwnce with op broken mons just after the relase, when chinse players can easly don't pick up them and have better fun? There is something worng when devs chose to listen for chinse players and ignore the rest.
A lot of the times when things get split up like this, one version is typically used for market testing. "We want to try adding a hub world? Well let's push it out on the chinese server and see how it lands." A lot of the features that we see in the chinese client currently are features that showed up on global surveys in the past. Just be patient, if it performs well in the test market, it will push to global in time.

I dont believe in the part that the game is abandoned. But the part that says "the things on the chinese server wont come to global" that is true. The company riot did this with league of legends wild Rift and other games as well. It has a lot of things on the chinese version that never came to the global version. I highly doubt we will get these really diferent things we see on the trailer on global. I hope im wrong because i want to see all these amazing things in the game
I'll also add that Konami added QOL features to the Chinese version of Duel Links that the Global version still hasn't gotten. The rest of Jake's point I agree but I don't think that it's guaranteed that some of the cool stuff CN got like drafting in ranked can come to the Global version. I hope I'm wrong though.
This, I agree. People familiar with Chinese games/Mainland devs and the way they operate may feel the same way too. I also think that, even if any of these regional-exclusive features does make it into the game, it will probably not be anytime soon. I see a lot of people being very hopeful that many of these things are going to end up in the global. China is a whole different ballgame and audience altogether. Not to be pessimistic, but I'm not going to put too much hope into this 🤔
I hate to sound mean but CN are notorious for back lashing and sending death threats to the devs whenever they don't get special things....I remember honkai was gonna give global players something special but the CN playerbase were giving them death threats so they had to cancel it and also in genshin impact the CN playerbase were killing and abusing cats because they didn't like a specific character from genshin

It's difficult because this is a global online game that we still have competitions like the world champions, but we do have proof that they abandoned a game and only update it for the Chinese version. Pokémon Quest is the example. It came out, got a few patches and got completely forgot, but in China is still updated currently even after 5 whole years and they added almost every Pokémon, instead of only the first 151 we had for the rest of the world. It's a different kind of game and scenario, but something to consider. Though I doubt it will happen for Unite too.
Why cant we have a single version? And Unite could be a good start for the Pokemon MMO that we need in our lives.
Unfortunately something like this has already happened, pokemon quest got a Chinese version and the global release was abandoned.
We already have a global version with 100 million downloads
The Quest global version is developed by TPC, and the Quest China version is by NetEast. Both Unite global and China are developed by Timi, so completely different scenarios.

Don't get hopes too high. Usually, if the game has special Chinese version, all [or at least most] of unique content stays in this version. There is a ton of Chinese PvZ versions, it's crazy. And nothing from it was added to the global version. Devs won't abandon the global version, but I highly doubt anything from Chinese version will make its way to the Global
They literally said none of the new updates are coming to global. Yes they abandoned it for the china exclusive version. Ofcourse theyll keep minimal updates for global and same monetization and the server up. I'm sorry spragels but this time I disagree wholeheartedly, we've seen this happen let alone them confirming in clear spoken words. The video has been translated to English. Surprised you haven't seen it? Trust me I get that it would make NO sense to have other versions but china has many different regulations and philosophies behind their games and how they operate. You can't assume they'd be able to have the same game in China, money or not.

I HOPE that timi is using the Chinese version to play around with wild ideas. It gets to a point however, where the two version become TOO different. Removing the time limit has effectually done this. World wide unite has to now release a special mode where it's first to score an amount wins. Then this mode has to be more popular than the standard ranked. it just seams too drastic...
The moves extra upgrades are arguably more lickly to come to WW unite.... even then balancing is an issue. The world wide audience is far more sensitive to unbalanced meta's. People complain and actually stop playing. Where as in china people tend to complain less about balance issues and even less lickly to stop playing all together.
Can i give an example of a pokemon game that is neglected after an Chinese release? Pokemon QUEST for the switch. It is a fun game and the international version has only dex 1 while the Chinese version has already extra pokedexes and much more new game mechanics. English version is now totally dead.
Idk if Jake is being naive and too optimistic, or if he doesn’t know how Chinese version of global games works… Look at the comments below of how BIGGER games that have received the same treatment in terms of a global and China version exclusives. I do appreciate your work as a content creator for the game but we have to speak from precedents and not from feeling for topics like this.
They haven't abandoned it they still making money while doing nothing .... There should been another patch by now but they haven't done anything, pts server is dead for so long there's no draft ..... Items like leftovers and drain crown haven't been buffed or reworked to make it any decent

The patch schedule is the same it’s always been. Pokémon have had a relatively similar release schedule. Events are happening with the same frequency as last year. I don’t think you realize that what you are saying ain’t true.
Pokémon unite is dead not because of players not because is broken not because there’s issues of players go idle like big babies. It’s about communication in the game. If there’s no communicating to the players is dead point unless they give us content is not dead.

Hmm... Okay, I think the global Unite won't be abandoned, but I'm convinced that Unite 2.0 will probably have a lot features that won't ever come to the global Unite. The Pokemon Company still has a hand in this, so I'd think they would try to prevent actual abandonment. (Or take over the development of the global version somehow if TIMI has lost interest in upkeeping the global version altogether.)
Pokemon Quest was fairly popular, but it wasn't as big as Unite. The Pokemon Company might have decided to let some Chinese devs have fun with it, and didn't bother to arrange a deal where the changes they make would be ported to the global version. They've probably talked things over for Unite 2.0 though. Just, none of us knows the details lol.
Quest was very small comparatively, and it was one of those “free to start” kind of games which just didn’t pick up very widely in the western world. The gameplay of Quest just doesn’t keep as many people in the west entertained for so long, they probably knew the game was gonna be small here tbh.
Quest was not popular, hence why it died out. The Chinese playerbase goes crazy for mobile games compared to the rest of the world.
the one thing i would like them to add to the global version of them game is the open word lobby where your fav mon is following you around and you can interact with your friends when your teamed up waiting for que..
While this may be a nice thing, it is entirely cosmetic and unrelated to the actual gameplay. I would rather them invest time in making the actual game better than creating some hub that doesn't actually have anything to do with the gameplay. I'm really not sure why they did this for the chinese version.
Also if I want to run around with my Pokemon following me and interacting with my friends in game, then i'd just play Scarlet and Violet.

@@spragels Of course they’re going to bring over nerfs and buffs, they’re minuscule changes in the grand scheme of things., but the CN version will absolutely gets thing that the global version won’t. It’s the case for most games that get a CN and global release. Do I hope I’m wrong and that we’ll get a cooler game out of this? Absolutely. Do I think it’s likely? No. I don’t think the global version of Unite will be abandoned, I do agree with you on that, but it’ll definitely start to be looked at as the least appealing version of Unite
When I play Unite on my phone I don't have lags when traversing the menus, on the Switch it's quite bad/slow.
In the video shown they're clearly showing a mobile version, but it's quite laggy. Can't imagine how bad it'll run on the Switch. Though, not any of our concern because we'll never get it. (r.i.p. the backpacks)
Im well aware they not abandoning the main game the problem for me is most of us on copium cause it’s only a beta and off the bat their game is > than the global game rn all of us even you are being hopeful for things that may not even come to global and all we able to do is be hopeful because the devs of the game that’s played worldwide decides not to let us know anything but decides to let us know everything bout the Chinese beta
I don't think they abandoned our game I think they just need to have more frequent balance changes. Bc if something is op we have to play a garbage meta the whole season. I don't mind when somethings strong. Just don't like it unplayable unless u play with it.

Honestly, I don't mind if Chinese version has some special content for it if it's cosmetic(open lobby, skins, exclusive BP and so). What I really want from what we saw in Chinese version: 1) new game modes, 2)new upgrades for basic moves.

ALthough I'm not Timi Fan but whalish player ( i dont how it's possible but I'm a cool skin guy) I'm pretty sure that Chinese Unite and Normal Unite WOULD BE SAME IN RANKED and MAJOR EVENTS or at least just a similar differences. I've never heard that a game that divided himself into global and Chinese with such a big differences.

Please don't compare Untie with LoL + LoL:Wild Rift, as one was made for PC by the old team and the other by new Mobile team. So Riot couldn't simply port things over.
Pokemon Unite has both on mobile made by TiMi from the start.
I tend to agree with you on everything but not on this one, unfortunately. I'm not sure if it's because the Chinese version, bad revenue or what it is, but the game feels... empty, unloved. I remember last year not only we got more Pokemon added, there was almost always an event to look forward to, with rewards that made it worth it, like multiple free green holowears for a lot of Pokemon, for example. I used to look forward to the Unite Weekend, it was 2K coins just for playing the game and they've now substituted it for... Platinum emblems, worthless Platinum emblems. Yes, they keep nailing each Pokemon's battle style, they're all so fun to play, but any and every other aspect of the game now seems worthless. No new maps, no good rewards, no new unique events, I think the only unique event we had this year was Tinkaton's.
Besides all that, the game got completely unbalanced with the Mewtwos for like 2-3 months and even after the nerfs you can feel how much it just damaged the game , matchmaking couldn't be worse...
This sounds like a complaining post, and it is, but I'm saying all this because regardless of the reason, the devs are not putting any care, effort or love into the game anymore, that's an undeniable reality. I keep playing because using each Pokemon's unique battle style is extremely fun, other than that the game is... just boring, repetitive, lifeless. Pointless.
I wanna be honest. It's Pokémon UNITE so there shouldn't be another version because this Global version should be accessible wherever you are with the developers able to respect and communicate and support the player base as much as possible..
Though because of political issues and strict censorship laws, if a feature was added that the goverment doesn't want. It would possibly be banned.
Getting a Chinese version in any game is hard enough. That's why it should just be a single version. what's the point of putting "Unite" into the name when the game itself is divided.
You can't blame people or anybody for speculating anything when TIMI doesn't have effective communication. You make great logical points but even yourself is making assumptions. TIMI has proven time and time again to put things/bad balance into the game when it doesn't make sense so of course people are going to come up with assumptions about the game.
TIMI needs to communicate and I won't defend their game for their lack of communication when they know that's a problem

Those folks are thinking about it backwards. Dev's want to bring their game to China because they're pleased with the Global game's success. If they were disappointed with the Global game, why decide to double down on their disappointment and open it to a new market? That would be a bad investment.

Chinese and global have different Dev may be same company but people they recruit for Chinese and global different people...global version share their data to Chinese and they censored for Chinese people... China always do with any game they drastically changes game ...they improve better than global most part any game. And unfortunately we can't play their version some game might able to play via vpn but mostly they locked their game with citizen security code

Well china is very national and they want to make the better version for china only. I mean i could be wrong and im not trying to sound offensive or rude, im just saying other chinese games have done this. We COULD see Chinese features in global but its not guaranteed. But i agree they wont drop global, that would be terrible financially.
Blizzard the developers of overwatch basically abandoned the game for 3 or 4 years to make a sequel that was just an upgraded engine and a shop. Companies will do anything for profits even if it doesn't make sense to fans
Hell I would be okay with them moving onto Unite 2.0 if they made it run better on the switch, or just put it on pc so it doesn't run like crap. Optimization is so horrid in the menus and if they can remake it that would probably be a good idea.
Timi doesn't care about e-sports and much less about the game quality. We will be lucky if they keep the servers running for us to play when the chinese casino version gets 20+ times the revenue
Pokemon unite is a MOBAL game designed for short bursts of gameplay (L for light) honestly I wish smite had a version like this

yall, there's a china version of pokemon unite is so china people can play unite. They have their own internet and their other version of app that yall usually use. There's other games like pubgm and stuffs that have their own version and they make it have something that the global version dont. I mean the company itself is a china company so yea. They prolly wanted to make an exclusivity for their product for their own country since it can only be played for their people. But prolly they should always communicate with us which is the main idea of this video

First off, it happened with Pokemon Quest. The global version stopped seeing new content, the CN version is still going strong nearly 5 years later. Riot also did a smaller version of this with LoL and Wild Rift. The CN version gets a LOT of things that never went global. It's pretty common for games to give the CN market special/more attention. Especially considering they will send death threats otherwise, it happened with Honkai Star Rail. The game won't die, but it will probably be the unwanted step child. Given just enough attention to keep it going.

I just dont think many or any of those features coming to global. Please understand China has like over a billon people with a stilted government. If you can get your product green lit with those offcials , you really dont need any other global market.

Its been like this for a lot of games when the a game doesnt do well outside of asia they put all of their focus on asia because thats where all of the money is at and they neglect everyone else....NA players have this "f2p" mentality theres no money in our region

what i do know about the chinese audience is that they spend way more in games. so maybe pokemon unite global will survive as the more balanced version and the chinese a more casino spend your money version.... just speculating

Imagine 2.0 is actually a bootleg?! I mean it’s happened with other games out there.
Also, imagine current version goes offline and the new one 2.0 will be the new Current unite replacement like what Blizzard did with Overwatch. What mean is that it’s possible the “2.0” is built on a new engine so it can run a lot better for both mobile and Switch.
