You can tell you actually use the shoes you’re reviewing. I get so sick of these reviewers claiming they’ve used a shoe for x miles or x training hours and they look pristine. So thank you for actually putting in the work and time to give us these reviews.
Honestly, that's half of the reason why I started this channel and my website. These "reviewers" who are owned by media companies (we won't name drop) often just put out fluffy marketing-esque reviews which benefit no one or they rip content off from others - drives me up a wall if you can't tell, LOL. Thank you for the feedback 🤝
The content is amazing, never would’ve found Tolos without you! You’re quickly becoming one of my favorite UA-camrs After this video it looks like I know what I’m getting for Christmas lol
After having the original Primus Lite for 3 years (enough to have skipped the Primus Lite 2), and then switching to the Primus Lite 3, I have to say that the sole material has gotten worse. I’ve had the Primus Lite 3’s for less than a year, and I’m getting significant wear on the ball of foot. Maybe it’s because of the “recycled material” they advertise, but at $150 a pair, I expect them to last. Have you noticed that with your Primus Lite 3? Btw, appreciate your content, just subbed to you. Think I may pick up a pair of these Tolos after watching your review, they look awesome. Thanks!
You know what, I've heard similar stuff from other folks over the last few months. I think you're likely onto something with the durability going down. My Geo Racer Knit have faded, but it's not at a dire point yet. I believe Vivo is pretty good about replacing them, though, so it may be worth reaching out and seeing if they'll do that for ya! Thank you - I appreciate that! Yeah, they're sweet, and if I'm not mistaken, the sole construction is going to be one of the first upgrades in next iterations, so they should keep getting better.
I found (literally found, they were left behind at the crag after a climbing event and just so happened to fit perfectly) the Merrel Trail Gloves probably 8 years ago and fell in love. Running in them felt like I was cheating compared to my old shoes and I became a barefoot guy really quickly. I eventually got a black leather pair that was similar for work, and some TSLA knockoffs to workout in. The TSLAs are great and actually lasted multiple years before wearing down. If they came in all black I'd buy some for work. Unfortunately the Merrells are no longer great barefoot shoes (which the 6th gen including stupid arch support that huuuurt) I've been trying to find something thats barefoot, without looking dorky, and comes in all black so I can wear it to work. These look pretty promising (Also looking at the Primal 2, but dont like the look of the mesh and see reviews mentioning it being the weakpoint that wears out first) I really wish I could get them without the gold accents, and with either a gum or black sole, but I think I'm going to try these for my next pair of daily/work shoes.
I believe Tolos will have some colorways dropping in 2023 without the gold, so that might be perfect for your context/ask! If you decide to grab a pair keep me posted on how you like them!
Currently I use my Merrell trail glove 4s in the gym, but I've been thinking about trying something even more minimal. Like these! I'm learning a lot. Thanks! I'm a beginner in the gym, on a weightloss journey 😅
Hi Jake! What is your opinion on the Tolos vs Vivo’s primus trail ii fg? I have the haze tranier and was looking to transition into a more minimalist shoe for an all rounder leaning toward a hiking shoe (easy to moderate) and some light running/heavy lifts. I am curious in the comparisons between the outsoles in terms of “grip” or durability. Although, I do like the toe box of the Tolos and the lacing system. What are your thoughts? Thanks and keep up the great content.
If you want something for trail use, too, go Primus. The Tolos upper will get wicked dirty on trails and will need to be cleaned more often despite the sole likely being fine for that context. Thank you!
Do you recommend getting my normal size for these? Because according to the sizing chart I would get size 9.5 and I've always work 11 and 10.5 are too small in regular shoes
Woahh, these might finally be the shoe Ive been longing for for YEARS. My primary purpose for barefoot shoes is lifting. I usually go barefoot (socks) for lower body movements but that can lack grip and can be a pain to repeatedly take the shoes off and on. Prime Lites have been the main shoe on my radar since they were released but there were a few cons holding me back. 1) Clown shoe appearance 2) Colors. Love the look of the whites but i usually rock shorts (and mid socks so my calves dont look as small lol) on lower body days and i dont like the white shoe + white sock look. With joggers its totally fine. And I just dont like the look of 100% black shoes. These Tolos seem to fix both issues! Comparable performance to Primus Lite and the look better + offer a black with white sole, even though Im still considering the clean whites
Mine don't stink and I wear them primarily sockless. However, I'm not gonna say that others won't have that issue, per se. I typically don't have my shoes stink too bad unless I wear them in the rain!
@@Latissimus65 I want to say they’re slim…buttttt I got these years ago and can’t remember. There’s no more tag on them so I’m hesitant saying that definitively.
I love how the barefoot community preaches this whole concept of minimalism and atst lifting weights that they are not supposed to lift. it is highly Unnatural to lift the ridiculous weight you are "lifting."- full stop. I do like your reviews though and I love your beautiful spin.
I accidentally hit remove on your "oly lifts" comment, my bad! Writing programs and multitasking atm. Yes, they should suffice. Enjoyed their performance for my clean sessions!

I took a gamble and ordered it when you first featured it. 115$ is a great price 😎

Thanks for the great review as always, Jake! Can’t wait for it to be available in Australia.
I'm also stoked to see how this shoe evolves with more user feedback. Thanks for checking out the video, amigo!
Super comprehensive and fair. Thank you!

Sup Jake! What shoe would you recommend for a flat sole/wide toe box to use in the gym (squat, deadlifts, etc.)? Appreciate it!
Heyo! Primus Lite III, Tolos, or Xero Shoes 360/Zelen.
@@thatfitfriend will look those up, you're the best!
No problem 🤝
nice review, is the size same with vivobarefoot primusIII?
Somewhat. These should fit more true. If you're a 9.5 go 9.5, etc!
Thank you!
I talk to the owner of my local barefoot shoes store in Ottawa, about them and is gonna probably order some🙋♂️
That’s dope! Def keep me posted on your thoughts 💪
I ordered the black pair a few weeks ago. Thanks for the review! Looking forward to getting them.
Sick! I just ordered that colorway, too. Keep me posted on how you like them 🤝
Since the tolos is a polyester, do you find that it retains odor since it doesn't have as good of breathability compared to Primus?

Maaaan, I want these!
Have you also tried bearfoot ursus (LT)? wondering what your thoughts are about the ursus
Yep! thatfitfriend.com/bearfoot-ursus-review/
How would the size compare to an 11.5 narrow New Balance shoe? Is there a good sizing resource?
I'd go TTS in these, so stay 11.5. I believe Tolos is building out a sizing guide atm, but idt one is live yet!
@@thatfitfriend Thanks.

Doing quite a bit of crossfit, wondering how this might fare with rope climbs and stuff?
Eh, I wouldn't use em for rope climbs, tbh!
Any news on when they will be shipped to australia?
Uncertain on that timeline! Def reach out, Evan is pretty responsive on IG!
Cheers mate, yeah I sent them a message on the site. Nothing in the works yet :(
Dont mean to double comment but what jeans are those at 1:15?
You're all good, amigo! They're Fran Denim and I love them. Perfect stretch and fit for my lanky legs that have some meat on them.
@@thatfitfriend Straight or slim fit? I have a similar lower body build. Longer legs for my height w/ decent development
