- FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IN GAMING AND I WILL FIGHT YOU TO DEFEND ITS HONOR
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is a spinoff Final Fantasy game with local multiplayer for the Gamecube. It's not in the top ten gamecube games or anything, but its got great aesthetics.

tfw when you screw up the annotations and you can't use endcards because they don't fit the screen ecks dee

I've been lucky enough to play this with 4 players start to finish, one of, if not the best multiplayer experience I've had, can't wait for the remaster
Gameplay in multiplayer was deep af and so dynamic lol
oh my god I hate you for having friends.
Seriously though this game would have been SO MUCH BETTER with a continuous mana style overworld and no crystal chalice
What I like about this is that you recognize that your view of the game was clouded in nostalgia but you can still see it as a good game at the end of the review. It has its flaws, but it is still a great game!
This game is such a trip
@@KBash so's your channel. Have a sub.
(Necropost, I know but I still feel like Raem could've fit thematically if his some of his attacks knocked you back in progression diary entry by diary entry, forcing you to fight with the stats and equipment you had before as the diary entries appear on the screen and burn away. If you lose you should wake up in your village, saved by Mio and your Moggle with your starting equipment- having to fight your way back to Mag Mell or Mount Vellenge to recover your memories/equipment Dark Souls style [as preserved by Mio] before starting the fight again. Maybe there's an unlockable for beating him at your earliest memory.)
This might be my favourite kbash vid so far. Seems like you're really starting to nail editing, and getting a hang of the progression of the video. Instead of guiding us from Point A to Point B through the game, you picked categories and edited different areas together to argue different points. (y)
Hedgeyy thanks man, gonna try to stay decent :P
Bro you are too good don’t quit, you will get a lot of subs soon
Thanks man, for real. I'll try my best!
"and he was right"
Pro trick: you can watch movies at flixzone. Been using them for watching lots of of movies recently.
@@KBash He was right lol, I came for the review and subbed for the humor.
“And thus it was spoken. And so he did.”
Didn’t notice some of those flaws as a kid until now, this whole time I’ve had nostalgia colored glasses counting the days until it’s release in August
Remaster announced with online i can finally play this game the way its meant to be
August 27th 2020 release date for remastered!
Except there's no offline co op.....
Top 10 comments that aged poorly.
they effed it up with the co op :(
@@JC-qk7wl no surprise there! I was about to get the game but decided to wait and see as I do with a lot of remastered... Then I saw projared review of it and good f****** god am I thankful I chose to stick my rules to buying video games! The remaster weight is one of them the other is waiting a year when a new game console comes out just to see if they lower the price and of course give me the fix complete version not the Prototype hello PlayStation 4 1tp standard
FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES IS REMASTERED FOR SWITCH AND PS4!!!!!!
People have been telling me haha. Exciting though, forreal
@@KBash apparently it's come out that there will be no offline/local coop.
@@brkn613 That's because nobody has enough linking cables
Pretty accurate review for the most part but one huge thing I would note is that combat doesn't suck, its SIMPLE. The 3 hit combo is best for dps but focus attacks are great for initiating fights or using projectiles on lightning foes to avoid stun. And defending is amazing when used correctly, it can block projectiles when you are boxed in, and the yuke is straight up invulnerable while defending
But I agree the true final boss seemed kinda tacked on and unnecessary. And I don't even care that the enemy designs came from final fantasy... its a final fantasy game! I expected some similarities.
tbh i don't usually like the 'video game man yells' stuff, but honestly you've been exactly the energy I've needed these last couple months
also it's really fun to have seen kbash grow and refine throughout the run of this channel tbh
This game's opportunity to be awesome is ruined by the decision to make multi-player impossible without a gba. There's certain stuff you can't even get without multi-player.
It's kinda sad right? Like the xbox had LIVE at the time, and otherwise you need friends nearby to play this.
The combat may be basic as all fuck, but that doesn't stop this game from being pure comfy. The atmosphere is the heart and soul of crystal chronicles
I think if you have one GBA hooked up while playing single player, you can see how to earn points in each level. And you should get a map on the GBA screen. :)
that's true - I did it years ago. Really helpful for getting high-class artifacts
Sadly the charge attacks and magic weren't very good if playing in single player. but in multiplayer they could be combined into far more powerful attacks and spells, if casted together with another player, with the right timing. the moogle would sometimes join in when casting in single player, though he had to not be holding the bucket at the time, and was still unreliable from what I remember.
Overall I always loved the game, though playing in multiplayer likely helped a lot, since combining attacks with other players was a big part of an otherwise very simple combat system.
And yes, playing as a mage, made the start of each level a huge pain, till I at least got my first elemental ring and cure ring and no longer needed to find the spells mid level anymore.
I want to play this game multiplayer some day to get the full experience haha
One of the funnest parts to me was building a caster-only Yuke. It wasn't the optimal strategy but it was fun! Of course this wasn't the game enabling me to have fun through balanced game play but at the end of the day, I got to pick my trophies, I got to hunt for spells, and I got to tackle the final boss each time with what I had.
Then of course there is the battle Yuke build HEE YAW
I agree!! You honestly miss out on the full experience without playing multiplayer.
@@KBash Well, there is a remaster happening for the switch, supposedly with added content and an updated multiplayer mechanic. Looks like maybe we'll all get to.
FYI, apparently the color you painted your moogle determined if it could cast spells, and what sort of spell it would cast.
Toshiyuki Itahana did the art for Final Fantasy IX and Crystal Chronicles so it still is pretty original.
i do love the designs
My mom and brother and I played this through all the way multiple times. Def. part nostalgia, but even after all these years, still my favorite game (and soundtrack) ever
also, this is a really great video. Keep up the good work man ~
it's so cool that your family played it together - really jealous
Thats awesome, Only managed to play this solo back in the day and never finished it
Is coming to the Nintendo Switch Next Year!!!🤩
YA\LL BEST BELIEVE I'M PLAYIN
Man the GameCube was my childhood.
Haha this is like idubbbz, Scott the woz, and Chris ray gun merged into one being and then started reviewing bunnyhop-tier games, I love it. Subbed
Yeah, you summed it up well. This was an amazing game experience and atmosphere bogged down by bad gameplay mechanics.
Real shame the remaster didnt get it right.
Well they didn't fix much, so yeah same problems as some of the ports plus local coop is gone
Love this game so so much.
But my god that chalice was a big mistake. Possibly one of the biggest gaming oversights of the time and one of the worst mechanics.
That and the way you can potentially ruin a save game by getting stuck eternally at a certain point.
the first crystal chronicles is by far the best one in the series to date. I wish they could make a direct sequel with same art and graphics.
I wish
"I don't see magic as super effective..." *_Laughs in Yuke_*
I so wished a remake of this or something would have been made using the New Nintendo 3DS XL!! Would have worked great with the Wii U... Maybe they can make another one on the switch...? :) LOVE THIS GAME!! :D
that would be awesome
It's happening
Welly well well
tbh in my opinion, this is a game best played co-op. had fun nights playin this game with friends. trading items and heals for gil, rushin through the levels trying to get the items first, all while still havin enough teamwork to not die.
loved it!!
Holy shoot you captured my feelings on the game amazingly well! The whole video in general was great and got a good chuckle outta me though but I will say I do feel like the overall theme of saving your memories does tie in well with the final boss-I've been playing through it with my friend and when ya go through most the cut scenes that happen in the game along with diary entries the amount they allude to memories being key and that people are losing memories to some god like entity help push home that crazy final boss.
I never played multilayer because my parents be damned wasting money on four mini consoles for one game. Thanks for explaining how you're supposed to know what xp points to aim for.
I actually like the magic parts of the game, but you gotta pay attention to the elemental rock paper scissors. The most fun way to kill that house monster is with fire. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jesus Christ the ending to your video is fu**ing hysterical, fu** I’m happy I found your channel
Go to ADR, good jokes and it’s enjoyable when you speak positively about a game, loved when you discussed the art direction.
At first I thought the game wasn't beatable but it is...It just takes a really long time.
Yeah, it took at least 10 years for me to bother haha
To be fair, the guy who did the char designs for this game was the same guy who did the designs in IX
I'm so excited to play the Remastered version this video is great I'm excited to see more
You came back to this game and beat it with your strong memories
Great game. Great review. Love your energy!
Picked up this earlier today along with a GameCube and paper Mario. The soundtrack is amazing
You know speaking of the designs and the fact that stiltzskin and the poison mist is in both games I always figured they might be in the same world
I just played this today for about 10 minutes for the first time ever and not a single thing about it made me want to continue playing. Guess it's just going into the collection
This game had more soul than every mainline final fantasy that came before it combined, fuckin fight me.
“Many enemies were borrowed from FF9.”
Me: So what? Still a good game.
It's always cool when your wife cameos in your videos
I'm literally just subscribing to support your channel, you're funny, great and the video is honest and packed full of information. ZING - VICTORY! Awesome video and great job with putting it all together!!!! CHEERS!
Aw geez, thank you!
Seriously, you got it man, I'm liking your like to show you how much support I'm giving!!! lmao
I had the exact same problem with this game as a kid. It was beautiful and the storytelling and world building were amazing back then. But the combat was a chore.
>plays multiplayer game by himself for a review
:|
I could not imagine playing this game by yourself.
That basically breaks most of the fun and cool things about the game. You can't combine spells and attacks, you don't get the various racial skills, you don't get the map that's split between each of your friends gameboys so you have to work together to find things, hear about each others dumb relatives through letters, and also won't get to force your gypsy friend to carry the pot because they're the fastest...
... I was the gypsy friend. :o
It's funny - I was basically alone in Korea in an apartment when I recorded this game. Nostalgic but sad all the same
Ha! Jack Atlas "THAT'S RACIST" 😂😂
SOMEBODY KNOWS
I love the ending
Wen I played the game i fealt like the game didn't have an ending that the miasma was just the way of this world something that couldn't be changed
Wen i went to the end of the world I wasn't looking for an ending I was trying to look for answer to what happened to the black knight and his former companion
It was a lot of work just getting there witout a guide and all i expected to find was a missing piece in the story of a side quest on my way of fufilling the years quota as usual
So discovering the comet the Yuke's where talking at and that the culprit of the Black Knight's and his companion's misery was protecting it fealt very rewarding
And learning how brave and heroic the black knight and his companion where and how this is the guy that broke them to the point of being irecognizable by there own family made the endgame boss fight very personnel and fufilling
First KBash vid I've watched. Instant subscriber. Keep up the good work player you are funny as all fucking shit.
Thanks - it means a lot man!
Bowl cut Kbash? What a rare sight to behold
Just starting out and loving to see these channels grow! happy you have been making good content this long!
This game has my absolute favourite final fantasy music.
Used to play this game a lot with two other friends. Don't know where we got the three gbas and cables but we did, and the game was definetly best enjoyed in mp. Amazing experience that no other game will ever recreate. But even in sp this game was pretty awesome.
Every time you say miasma I laugh because I think of some guy with asthma being unable to complete his quests because he runs out of breath.
me assmar
Fantastic video buddy keep up the good work !
caessey chrétien Thank you, I'll try!
Don’t ignore the letters send things to your village with each character you will be very happy
The multi-player magic combos are super fun too. At least they were for me as a kid :)
Multiplayer is about pulling those sick ass combos like Fire+ChargeAttack and losing your friendship over one asshole looting the Mythril you needed for your gear.
Yup. Dropped loot is free for all. *sigh* The memories.
Oh and I LOVED Ring of Fates completely removing Chalicebitch duty. I even enjoyed the Wiiwares a lot. And Crystal Bearers *never* existed.
My nephew had this game, said he found it or someone gave it to him, I don't remember but he didn't even have a gamecube so he gave it to me and we would play it together and neither of us could ever figure out how to actually play this game. I am dead serious, the two of us together couldn't figure out our objective or where to go. But it was a beautiful game and I would play it by myself and just walk around admiring the scenery. Eventually after many attempts I was able to actually make progress and get to the first boss fight and after, I think years probably lol. I beat the boss, but once again didn't know how to continue and gave up after that.
Great video! Loved your style
that ending
Unpopular opinion of mine: I still think the character designer for crystal chronicles would of fit with the disney ascetics more than the Nomura's for Kingdom Hearts.
Did you hear that this game is coming out again? I am excited!
3:30 The fudge? That was random and funny.
Me and me Mother play this together a lot back then , both of us play as Clavats , i had cheated where my Clavat's Shield is a Sword , while me Mother used a Spear instead of Swords.
Fun game , FFCC Ring of Fates and Echoes of Time made me hate multiplayer for friendly fire bull chit.
Even though ye take 1damage but still annoying, ye can be stunned by allies god forbid if it's from Lility's Attacks or Selkie's 5 way shots from Bow.
If a ally is on your head , they can stomp your head , while small amount of gold ye earned flies out , for those to pick up , there is a gem that can reverses it , where if a ally stomp on your head , their gold flies out.
But why it added in , in the first damn place?
@KBash
The Switch version will hopefully do us proud! I too, hold a very fond, and nostalgic point of view on this game. It was one of my child hood favorites, and despite some of the flaws you pointed out, it made me cherish the game even more.
And I still think that final boss, in Crystal Chronicles, was a pretty good way to end things off. The bosses were already cool, I actually really enjoyed the mechanics of the final boss with the "strong" memories because I remember so fondly, that I played this game from start to end. Day in day out. I am pretty sure I ran through each stages around 5-6 times (my first playthrough ended in year...16? 17?) Some where along those lines. I scanned the game trying to 100% it essentially, and honestly, I found myself now, doing this same thing again. And I love it.
Nice video man! I have never watched a video of yours before, but you just gained another subscriber! I like the content man! Keep it up!
love the art style of the game , but wanted it 2 play like a traditional JRPG instead of this !
I can't believe they ate bringing this back im so hype but fuck this video made remember that i literally had the same experience. Cant wait to fucking murder this shit finally after failing to as a kid. Bro your work is fucking dope hope you keep growing.
Rip to headphone users and anyone who's wife WAS asleep.
I was so excited at first especially when you said it was a multiplayer game, then... the combat sucks part. Deal breaker, heart broken and everything bro it's like telling me how amazing a world is but then drop the bomb by telling me I'd have to be a french lesbian the whole time.
Edit: You know come to think of it, the one on the DS is better.
If you never played this back in the day on Gamecube, then just don't if you are expecting a solid multiplayer experience.
Personally, I got close to beating the game back in the day circa 2010 single player, but it's like everyone says about the game; multiplayer is preferred, but incredibly frustrating.
This with FF tactics are my favorite
Great content dude!!!
Cheers! :D
Open Mic Skits thank you for this joy
just plan awesome dude. lol I just picked this game up a while ago now I don't even want to play it lol. awesome video!
gotta get them aesthetics
Finished the remaster so went back to watch this. Singleplayer experience is still pretty decent up until Rebena Te Ra. Screw that place. It's a shame the game is somewhat reliant on you replaying dungeons since the world is so limited it makes you lose interest in playing once you've visited the small amount of locations. It's still a comfy nostalgic game for me, but the actual game design has always been pretty average. CC is pretty much carried by its art direction and music.
This is the same feeling I remember having when playing the original game. I'm not so sure about getting the remake now
Im glad to hear this game is actually pretty good and as cool as I'd hoped it was! I always thought this game looked interesting and wanted to play it when I was a kid, but IGN gave it a bad review and I used to treat IGN magazine as the Bible for some stupid reason, so I missed out. I knew I should've bought it when I saw it on sale at Blockbuster!
Holy crap, I love your cat!
Miasma
I thought he said my asthma
Kek, 10/10 review
This game was amazing with 4 players.
So, I study game design, which includes a lot of rpg games, and I haven't heard of a lot of these games on your channel. so.....good job.
Next year remake for PS4 and NSW
2:15 oh shit, this line aged _too well._
11:28 also, FFVII came up with the House monster even before FFIX.
getting mail was one of my favorite things >.

You SKIPPED the Festival?! They get to **LIVE** for another year. You watch them party and you better freaking enjoy it.
Ooo that music
only the best
You didn't notice because how underrated 9 was back then
This was beautiful...but now im hungry
The bosses in this game were too complex for how shitty your combat options were as a player
04:53 I thought about DW4 tbh hahaha I'm playing it with some friends and I was thinking about playing FFCC but still need to come up with a way of making it work multi-player in Dolphin, though
This is when EBash started becoming hateful.
I always have the soundtrack in my computer, no matter which computer i have at the time
Love this game and love this video!
still holds up
You had me at that into !!! Lmao!!
Great channel man! Keep up the good work :D
Ollie Fearn thank you!
meeh i still love the game
Crystal chronicles, (world) reminds me a lot of 9's world
Hate to be that guy but...UM ACTUALLY Defenses is useful (at least whit yukes and partially humans) for blocking wide area boss attacks that leave the boss open right after ( or full blown self destruct it)
Afternoon turtles pick up the rangers
Such a geme of a game... :) brings me back to when i was a kid...
10:49 ... Relinquished?
So apparently they made a remastered version of the game for the PS4 and switch that came out about a week ago. Apparently they fixed alot of shit, added in some voice acting, boss variants, mechanics, and ONLINE MULTIPLAYER.
Maybe check it out?
Also I think youre being a little harsh on the originality of the bosses, every game dev reinvents the wheel per se at some point or another. Its hard to do anything truly new these days.
It hasn't come out yet, it was delayed unfortunately.
Goddamn ... this review is fucking beautiful. And then you had to go and put that moogle thing in there ...
I beat this game with 2 of my friends in high school, when I was like 14? I could'nt tell you the details of the game, as playing this game with friends is a worse idea than playing Mario Party with friends.
