Best game I ever watch live. Better then NU v OU 1978 and the 2002 NU v UT

Thank you very much for this upload! Watching these classic games is bitter-sweet. I enjoy reliving the memories of Husker greatness, but it also reminds me of how far the Big Red have fallen. I hope that Scott Frost can right the ship and lead Nebraska back to glory.

Wing back Curtis Craig was Roger Craig's older Brother. Both were great players. Spilt-End Tim Smith had a long NFL career.

The guy who made the interception that clinched the game for Nebraska is now Nebraska's governor.

Actually Governor Pillen had two late 4th quarter interceptions to finish off the Tide. And the next season against Oklahoma in 1978, Pillen recovered the last-minute Billy Sims fumble (caused by safety Jeff Hanson). That sealed the first win against Oklahoma since the Game of the Century in 1971.

So many great names from Husker history. This was a great game. I remember (age 16) nobody really believed NU had a chance. That interception by Alabama made us believe it could, happen and it did!

I was 2 or 3, too young to watch, but I've heard guys on ESPN reminisce about late 70s Nebraska names like I.M. Hipp and Jarvis Redwine😁 won the chip for names at least

Interesting how Keith Jackson treated that last 27 seconds. Instead of building anticipation for what should have been a final hail mary attempt by Alabama, he treated it like the game was over already talking about what was coming up next on ABC. For that matter Alabama didn't seen to be particularly interested in doing a long pass despite the game situation. It was like hail Mary's usually fail so let's not even bother trying.

Bama lost two games in the last three seasons of the this decade. This one and a home loss at Legion Field to Southern Cal in 1978. I was two when this was played. I love these games cause they were on campus. The neutral site season openers have gotten old. Nebraska was truly the big red thrashing machine in this time.

Not much footage on UA-cam or anywhere else for that matter online of IM Hipp. That catch and run on the screen pass here. He had back to back 200 yard rushing games right after this. 254 against Indiana and Lee Corso. Would like to be able to see more highlights of Hipp. Rick Berns was a really tall Running Back he was like 6'3 or 6'4".

He did everything he could, but hit him with a hoe handle! Love Kieth Jackson!
