“It wouldn’t be a Spider-Man comic if Spider-Man didn’t suffer” ~TL;DR
oof
I mean...
He's right
No it wouldn't
I mean, your not wrong.
...
Captain America: idk the punisher is kinda not the best guy
Iron Man: Lmao sure I’ll hire villains
yeah, and punisher didn't help his case by murdering a group of villains seeking refuge right in front of cap, saying that even though these villains promised to go straight a criminal is always a criminal.
@KyodaiKen1979 oh absolutely but murdering people in cold blood with no trial is not the way cap does things, it was one of the reasons he rebelled in the first place, the "no trial" thing.
@@omarreyes7626 Well, Punisher doesn't see a trial as any good if it allows obvious criminals to get away. Before he became the Punisher, he tried to testify against the mobsters that killed his family, but was told that the people he identified as the culprits had solid alibis. Said people were high ranking members of a crime family, and those types often have "ways" to avoid getting caught with soiled hands; it's implied that the police department and the crime family had connections with each other.
Basically, like Captain America, the Punisher seeks to up hold the spirit of the law rather than the letter. Unlike Captain America, the Punisher doesn't believe in showing criminals mercy, nor does he seek to inspire others through his actions. Yeah, even the Punisher knows he's a messed up guy.
@@videogollumer weather the punisher was justified in his actions or not is not really the debate here, the debate here is that the moral code of Captain America clashed with the punisher's hence why capt beat him to a bloody pulp and refuse his help
@@omarreyes7626 Sorry, I misread your comment. I wasn't saying what Punisher did was right, btw. I was just stating his experience with trying criminals for their misdeeds hasn't been a pleasant one.

_Well who's fault is that, Marvel?_
His infamous Parker's Luck, of course. It's so powerful it even affects his clones.
At least Marvel was willing to admit OMD was bullshit.
Most staff at Marvel vocally hated undoing Spider-man's twenty year marriage to Mary Jane, especially for such a stupid reason. But they had to Obey Joe.
Amanda Pike Yeah, Joe Queseda really did Marvel in. Sure, the best modern crossover events in all of comics happened under him (Avengers Disassembled to Fear Itself was all perfecto), he banned smoking, AND he created Red Hulk, but everything else was a bunch of failures, including forcing the writers to make a character based on his daughter. However, iirc the only one really pissed at the whole thing was J Michael Straczynski.
Personally, they just need to give the two of them memories of the event. It would be cool to see how they would react to the ordeal. I mean, if they can resurrect Gwen Stacy about a month ago, anything is possible.

@@kasper9016 digital comics sales dont even get close to making that 100k even when taken into account..The industry is dying and its because of "woke" politics invading the industry. Why didn't Spider Man think that it would be a better idea to ask Doctor Strange to restore his secret identity?
Well you see One More Day would never happen.
16ktsgamma And that's a downside how exactly?
Davi Lopes And that's why this story wouldn't have worked in the MCU after Wakandan technology has already been shown to cure fatal bullet wounds.
Because comics are bad
@Davi Lopes Obviously there are stinkers in every form of fiction, but Civil War and One More Day are one of them.
@Davi Lopes Dude, the MCU have a more solid and realistic history than a lot of Marvel comics. Not all of them, but I read Marvel since I was 7 and the MCU is one of my favs universes of the company.
Alright, but there are some very important things you got wrong or omitted:
1) When Iron Man ambushed Team Cap, it wasn't a pretense to propose a truce. He geniunely tried to offer Team Cap amnesty for a chance to let both sides reach a middle ground.
2) Iron Man didn't sent the Thunderbolts after Spider-Man. Maria Hill did, against Stark's orders to stand down.
3) While heroes were imprisoned in the Negative Zone, Iron Man stated it was a temporary measure. They weren't going to be there forever, it was only for as long as the war lasted.
4) And finally, the heroes didn't have to reveal his identity to the public, only to authorities. And by leading the SHRA, Tony ensured the one person heroes would have to reveal their identity to was himself and not some random government agent.
ADour I am sensing an iron man fan here
Triceratops You got me, I guess?
Except Iron man's character was so thoroughly disliked at the end of the story line Marvel had to have him die while destroying the registry to redeem himself, and then get revived by Cap, Doctor Strange and Thor.
Amanda Pike ...
I know that.
The main problem with Iron Man in CW wasn't the things Tony did, but the way a lot of writers portrayed him. For example, the Amazing Spider-Man tie-ins had Tony say that the Negative Zone prison held its prisoners indefinitely, even though the main book clearly stated it was a temporary measure.
Other books showed him merrily supporting the registration, while other books properly showed that Tony was very reluctant, and supporting it only because it was what needed to be done (and there are numerous reasons why it was) even if it took a heavy emotional toll on him.
And it isn't like Cap didn't suffer from the same characterization problems. I mean, the main book has him fight dirty, starting a battle for a really dumb reason, beating the Punisher to a pulp, and acting like a jerkass when young heroes in his side like Stature expressed having problems with fighting friends.
Everyone in this even was bad charatherized in general, Iron Man, Cap, Peter and Maria Hill.
A clone of Thor? Cap dies and is resurrected? Tony hired supervillains to work for him? Cap was going to KILL Tony? Wow. I didn't read this comic, but boy am I glad that the movie was so different...
It got worse. Norman Osborne became director of shield and use his power to try to get to the hero identity list held by Tony Stark and the President. He ended up invading new Asgard but his invasion got broadcasted to the world revealing his evil intention. In the end Tony regrets everything he did and he took all the copy of identity list and destroy them. So in the end cap side actually won the war
Civil War 2 was more Pathetic in my opinion

House of M, Civil War, Secret Empire. These big team-ups just love to tear Spider-man apart
and then spider man makes a deal with the devil....
WHAT?!?!
yeah... we dont talk about that.
Well what isn't covered is the real reason Spiderman changes sides, its that after Spiderman reveals his identity, Mary Jane and Aunt May are attacked by Villains hired by Kingpin to kill spiderman at his home. Aunt May takes a bullet and is wounded pretty bad, this prompts Spiderman to switch to Cap's side, and later makes a deal with Mephisto to restore his secret identity, since his loved ones were in constant danger with the world knowing Peter Parker was Spiderman. The Deal with Mephisto if I recall correctly is basically him sacrificing his marriage and relationship with Mary Jane to reset his identity.

Both viewpoints are reasonable. If you let super powered beings act free of the law, innocent people are bound to get hurt, with no way of persecuting the people responsible. If you let the government control the most powerful beings, super heroes become enforcers of the law, even if the law is unjust. It’s the same problem that is presented in Incredibles. Even if the hero has the moral and ethical high ground, there’s still a chance that things could go horribly wrong, and the hero has to face the music. However, the hero loses their anonymity, and their life becomes an open book.

The most frustrating thing about this storyline is that Cap tells Cloak where to put everyone and he could easily have foreseen the consequences of dropping them in a populated area. He could have said "Cloak, send everyone to the grand canyon".
yeah but then the comic writers would have to draw a canyon instead of new york, and they would need to put in effort to add civilians to the equation.
the real TLDR: Spidey gets a deal with the devil, before that he gets beat up by all of his greatest enemies hired by his long-time hero, idol and mentor, and he has to fight Captain America and Iron Man, because the writers secretly have a secret society to vow to only make Spidey suffer during all his story arcs.

Hilman Civil War 1 didn't do a lot of favors for characters. Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic became the villains real quick and for all their reasoning, it didn't justify why the things they did to enforce the SHRA. Captain America at times acted like is Ultimate counterpart, rash, impulsive, and judgemental. Spider-Man....you know what that topic always raises my blood pressure, so I'm not going to talk about what happened to Spidey after this story.
I do realize you have to have conflict to tell a good story, but you can still do this story without force your heroes to be out of character.
Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic being so OOC and unlikeable that the fact they created a sci fi version of Azkabhan, Millar forgot he's writing a 616 Captain America and not his Ultimate version, and Spider-Man doing stupid stuff like making a deal with Mephisto.
I agree, the comic story was too convoluted. American comics have not always been great about dealing with long storylines. Japanese Manga is a perfect example of how you can have a larger story with smaller parts to break it up but keep it cohesive.

The video game version also had Captain America's worst fear being superheroes being turned into political pawns.

Spiderman: *gasp of air* _break...needed_
"Spiderman just can't catch a break"
