Even with most of their big hits being in the future, this concert had energy, quality and was a bloody good show. A real pointer of what was to come. German audiences worked out, long before the british audiences, the incredible futures possibilities. For a good few years, europeans thought that Depeche Mode were a German band.

This is literally the extended version that was recorded 2 years before Alan joined the band. They would alternate which version they used at concerts.
A pitty that on one of the most recent onterviews Martin made it clear that they can’t stand playing it anymore. This version is the best for me. PS.: What you said about Martin having no idea, LOL
