    This hnefatafl board is beautiful! Love the magnetic push jump and slide mechanics of the board.

    Would you be interested in making a board and send it to Mexico? How much would you charge if interested?

    Beautiful board Thomas! Bravo!!! I have a question: I have noticed that there is confusion as to whether the King can return to the center square (the Throne) during game play. I have seen two conflicting answers for this. Can you give clarity? Thanks!

      Yes the king can return to the centre. See rule number 5 here: aagenielsen.dk/copenhagen_rules.php

    I like your board. I think you should consider however playing edge escape rules which are for more strategic. For those interested, I have just release my App version for iPad and iPhone (The Viking Game) which can play many different variants of these Tafl Games, and different rules version. It features the strongest A.I. Player yet developed to play these games. It also features board sizes from 9 x 9, up to the 15 x 15 board found at Coppergate in York.

    in your opinion do you think its more balanced if the king cannot take part in captures?

    I have a question if the king(near the throne) can be attacked using 3 pieces( at 1:06) how about if the king is near by the corner it can be attacked by 2 pieces?
    K-king A-attacker C-corner X-Empty space
    C X X
    K A X
    A X X

      Hi Rosalie, this wouldn't count as a capture. More info is available at step #8 on this page: aagenielsen.dk/fetlar_rules_en.php

      I just made the one you see in the video, but if you're handy, you can make one too by following this instructable www.instructables.com/id/Magnetic-Hnefatafl-Board-Game/

    Can you pass through the middle square or do you have to go round it?

    • @ThomasJacquin
      @ThomasJacquin  6 років тому

      You can pass through but you can't stop.

      Hey Matt, I actually made the board and pieces. Here's a link if you want to make your own: www.instructables.com/id/Magnetic-Hnefatafl-Board-Game/

      +Thomas Jacquin My word that's utterly marvellous... I did review the process but quite quickly I can see that I don't have the tools nor the skill to repeat the process! It's utterly fantastic though and I'll simply have to remain jealous.

    Ok, the board is great. But your video went way to fast. And the lack of talking made moves very hard to understand. You need to talk and explain what you are doing and why. YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN IT.... You did moves I never saw done before. Yes I am new to the game and want to learn more. Just pushing your cool looking pieces around a cool board is not teaching! TEACH US THE GAME and the game will live forever!!!!!
