    Actually my grandma's were a housewives in the 40's and 50's and wore their hair like this all the time. IT wasn't just for women working at jobs, it was for women doing work at home or anywhere! Mothers working at home work just as hard as women working at a "job". And all women need a "workin'" hair do!

  • @Alice-ov3rd
    @Alice-ov3rd 9 років тому +3

    This was my most favorite video out of all her tutorials. I used my great grandmother's scarves when I did mine.

  • @americaford8628
    @americaford8628 9 років тому +35

    Thanks for the tutorial. But, just an FYI, women in the late 30s into the 40s only used the bandana to keep their hair out of the way when working in the factories while the men were at war. A woman during this time would've never been caught dead wearing a bandana while doing housework or being out on errands. Women were expected to look flawless from the time they woke up to the time they went to sleep. Which meant their hair should be curled and pinned up halfway with victory curls. Just an FYI from a historian.

      +America Ford honestly, thank you for this comment cause that was bothering me so much. Does a "Rosie the Riveter" video and doesn't even know who/what Rosie the Riveter was.... Fail.

    • @_rmel
      @_rmel 9 років тому +16

      +Ilinca Olariu That's a little harsh. So what if she doesn't know the history behind Rosie the Riveter? She's doing hair, not an essay. People do historically inspired hair and makeup looks all the time without knowing all the ins and outs, there's nothing wrong with that.

    • @Rachel215
      @Rachel215 7 років тому

      Ilinca Olariu it was a Rosie the Riveter/rockabilly inspired hairstyle. I'm sure if she was actually trying to do Rosie she would have talked about it more.

    Awe!!! I just love this!! I manage contract accounts with Home Depot and being that tomorrow is Halloween and my costume of choice is Rosie the Riveter, I needed some insight on how to tie this tomorrow morning without al the fuss......you nailed it for me!! Thank you!! I'm 35 and absolutely adore the 50's style and vintage classic so this couldn't have been a better choice for me to dress up as than her. Especially for where I work. Your personality shines thru missy!!! Thanks for this!!! 💋😁📽🎞🎼🎷

    Umm... No. Rosie the Riveter didn't vacuum and bake cakes. She built WW11 airplanes and took care of other mechanical duties. Kandee, you're awesome but, your idea of Rosie is a liiiittttllle bit incorrect. Great tutorial tho.

      another idea is to make an updo that has a little more of a bump at the base of the neck. I have that issue of a weird head also and pins don't work to well. not to much or it will look funny.

    If you think Rosie the Riveter sat around vacuuming and waiting for the breadwinner you should probably Google it. Lol. She was quite the opposite.

    • @Rachel215
      @Rachel215 7 років тому

      Sara Ferguson she didn't mean Rosie the riveter! She meant just sometimes house wives wore bandannas to clean to keep their hair clean and hair out of their faces. This was Rosie the riveter/rockabilly inspired.

    Half the time she had a generic American accent the other half she kinda sounded like Morello of Orange is The New Black, not sure if it was intentional or not but it kept me amused
