  • Timelapse video of a Japanese maple.....showing weight reduction, thining centers, deadwooding, & directional pruning. The tree had overgrown its location & was starting to decline in health.
    We review the fiskars powerstroke pruning, & was etremely impressed with the tool. I was able to do rhe entire trim job with just the powerstroke pruner.

      I agree🤔🤔......well, maybe a little giggleing😂😂
      This thing really saved me time and i was extremely impressed. Ornimental trinming is a tuff subject.....they are normally touchy trees & can easily be harmed. Love the clean cuts it gives, how light it is when extended, & the ability to adjust the angel of your cut.
      Stay safe & thanks for watching😉

      There are angels involved in your pruning? ;) :-p Well.... On the subject: The do cut devine! :D

    Good job and good message on using non-motorized tools, I just ordered one of these, can't wait to use it.

    Great vid, loving that you use hand tools on trees you are keeping alive & power tools on ones that have to come down. Great commentary, l haven't seen one of those here in NZ, but l can try chase one up.

    Good review video. It helped me decide on whether I should get this tool and do some pruning of my own. That lightening bolt action in the video was classic😂. Love the humor mixed in👍🏽. Stay well😄

    Yeh, judgement & exploration, at the least we get information & on the plus, great outcomes. Can't deny how good that is for our kids to see. Kind of showing them how to stay safe. Smile

    Awesome video. I have this same tool and really really don't want another one again, I have been through 4. The head assembly rope on the inside that pulls the chain unwound, all 4 times. It is a pain in the buttocks to reassemble. No more FISKAR power strokeoff for me.
    Glad you had luck with your tool

      Mine did the same thing, & it took me a bit to figure out how to fix the inside of the head. Now I'm a pro at fixing it quickly, & really haven't had an issue since.

    That’s huge for a Japanese maple! Looks over 20’? ...Do you know the cultivar/variety??
    I’ve also been researching which long reach pruner to get... either this or the Stihl.. though the Stihl is only 7’.

    • @StihlChainsaws
      @StihlChainsaws  4 роки тому +1

      I dont know the variety, but we have allot of them here in Missouri. It's the most common ornamental tree that I find in most people's yards.
      Also, these fiskars are the BEST!

    Have you used this by pulling the ball at the end instead of using the orange handle?

  • @mike99ify
    @mike99ify 6 років тому

    I’ve always seen you using the Fiskars pole saw and can dig it man. I picked one up when I first started and still have it but it sits because I picked up the Stihl and it’s so much more stable IDK. I think it’s super cool you use hand tools like ya do. Next video pimping hedges by hand by Stihl Born 😂

  • @edsida

    I have the small version. Its a keeper for sure! That ball in the bottom should be able to be tugged like the handle.

      I've been using the smaller one for many years and just got this telescoping version that sure makes it easier to reach higher branches, etc. That ball at the bottom on both IS another handle and can be pulled to cut just like the larger handle. Using the ball works great when cutting high branches and you can't reach the regular handle on the shaft. I like Fiskars lifetime warranty with no-questions-asked replacement.

    That fiskars power stroke is handy I'm on my third one right now. Just don't try to cut too big of piece if you twist it at all it snaps right where the head rotates. Anyway home Depot just gives you a new one lol, Good video.

      They are great tools to have. I actually refer to one of my favorite tools in this video. I took an old pole pruner & disassembled it until it was simply a hook. Makes it simple to set ropes on the tips or branches....specially when they are dead limbs

    Sometimes that lever action of a corona head screws ya. Even if it's just to make those cuts alone, it's with having. You're not alone with your "no power" on ornamentals btw haha. Most of the guys in the co I work for do the same, myself included

    • @StihlChainsaws
      @StihlChainsaws  6 років тому

      Thats great....my standards are too much for some guys. They disagree & argue that its ALL about the money. For me....thats not entirely true....i love my job, I love providing a legit service, & i love the problem solving that comes with the job.
      FYI/ years of experimenting has shown me that the shrubs & ornamental trees should be takin care of....with specific tools & a different mind set......guess it all depends on your standards.

    The smaller power stroke is a faulty piece of kit. It jams and failed within the first half hour of use. Was not a fiskars fan and now i will not consider the brand for any serious use going forward. Buyer beware.

    • @StihlChainsaws
      @StihlChainsaws  4 роки тому

      🤔Is that the model I have?
      I've had really good luck with it, & I've used this one to death. It jammed, but I took it apart & put it back together. It's not as effective on hard wood, but no cutter/saw is.

    The effect of the rip off from the high speed motor is alot more damaging than hand cutting
