Can't wait until Max finishes this game, a year or two goes by, he decides to play it again for Halloween or something, and inevitably gets stuck in that same bear trap yet again.
He should play it in hard so he can see how much of a mess it is.
@@fabjtown1 I just started the video and he selected Hardcore...?
@@fabjtown1 skill issue
@@fabjtown1 he literally picked hardcore. That is "hard" difficulty.
can't agree more buddy haha i'll try to come back a year later to confirm that
Whoever decides the placement of the beartraps might actually be the smartest person on the planet. I know the beartrap is coming but I still step on it 💀
Doesn't need a genius to place bear traps... locations where you walk or hidden between bushes and grass.
I'm surprised they haven't turned up behind doors yet :)
@@cherrydragon3120even one right in front of u u still step on it. Must be something.
I've avoided them just to run right back into the same trap.
Bro probably a nasty trapper main on dbd lol
@@jasonsmarr3621 I almost do.that with a tripwire bomb. I thought I was smart if I left it there in case I need to use it against a ganado but there was no more combat in that area and almost just ran into it.
Just beat the Lake section and I can tell you 2 things for certain. 1- This Remake is genuinely incredible. 2- I have stepped in every damn bear trap that exists.
The bear traps spawn off camera and I refuse to believe otherwise
they actually made the bear traps hidden this time. thank god they dont do damage to you
same
The amount of times I saw the trap, ran past it then came back while looking for shit and stepped on every single damn one I avoided the first time….. fuckin things…..

Major respect to that guy in chat asking how the game was to give us that amazing bear trap moment.

I swear I've fell for it every time

They are realy good and hard to see. 10/10 beartraps!
I only fell for the first trap in the demo. But funny enough I watch a Chainsaw Man fall for one too.

The Game is Full of Legendary Moments Like 1 every 30 Minutes of So :) For example the first Time You see Your first Las Plaga Pop Out at Night or the Defend the House Chapter with Luis.
They do the work of a dozen ganados, amigo.
1:14:41 another one
I was so ready to laugh at Mendez jumping out the window after Ada again. And then they have to make him look like a badass just menacingly looking out the window and walking away lol
Yea it was a pretty cool change. Like he wasnt even concerned about Ada lol
He was like „whatever“ lol
Picked up his hat too lol
I was mildly disappointed because I expected him to be more cartoonish, but honestly I like this Mendez better.
I really like how intimidating and terrifying he is in the remake.
The level of details are unreal. The biggest I’ve noticed and love, is how Leon positions his gun when firing at close up enemies. It’s so thorough with its execution.
that’s what i noticed too. i think he does it too when you are around small areas and walls too
it's so satisfying!!!, in the village at the beginning I felt like john wick fighting them off xD
@@neals2955 Exactly this and add how "meaty" the shooting is makes this some of the funnest gameplay ever imo
It helps with gameplay too. In other 3rd person shooters of the same ilk (like both Evil Withins), I find myself often missing at point blank range because when enemies are extremely close, the game thinks that my arms/guns are protruding through their bodies or over their shoulders. The fact that Leon pulls his gun closer seem to prevent that problem, as I haven't had a single issue of that sort here.
I like that Leon keeps his finger off the trigger when he’s not ready to shoot
My mom loved re4 and was so happy that a remake was coming we were going to play it together she passed yesterday so seeing this brings me to tears but I'm going to enjoy this thank you in advance for all the joy this will bring in these difficult times keep up the good work my friend.
Sorry for your loss. Hope you enjoy the game to the fullest
Lo siento amigo, pásatelo bien con el juego.. es lo tu madre hubiera querido. En los momentos difíciles solo queda apoyarse en los seres queridos que te rodean
My condolences
Sorry for your loss man, she'll always be there with you in your heart.
Thank you all for your kind words I'm going to enjoy re4r to the fullest extent for her. Again thank you.
That trap at the beginning is giving off snk boss syndrome vibes😂 totally unavoidable damage
Boss rage video upcoming.
The boss? Bear trap
The Bear traps do no damage. Thank god.
@@taelin-rh3wi They probably realized that keeping the damage plus serving you on a silver platter to a more aggressive version of enemies would be overkill.

I haven’t fallen in love with a game like this since the original. We live in a great time to be gamers guys! 7 hours played on my first night. Scrutinizing every new detail. I saved at the start of chapter 3. Leon is my favorite RE character of all time.
Its so damn good, first time in years I’ve wanted too complete all the challenges for a game.
I've been waiting for this. Max's playthrough is one of a kind 😂
Yeah, only 1 man steps 10 times into the same damn bear trap LOL
Just finished my first playthrough, came in at 12 hours. Game is absolutely amazing, I loved every single second of it. Now to start unlocking everything.
I feel that way towards the demo, can't wait to buy it. Dead Space remake as well when I get a ps5 eventually.
I Saw people saying that professional difficult is unlocked after beating the game for the First time, is It true?

Damn it's only been out like 24 hours
Dude, I just entered the mines at 12hrs. How the hell did you finish so fast.
It might've been just me getting used to it again, but that village survival segment in the beginning was wild. Palms sweaty, heart racing. Bro i was fighting for my life and deadass mad me go "holy shit holy shit holy shit holy shit". It was both torment and the best feeling ever
2:59 - Despite "Hardcore" being described as being for people who played the original game, I honestly am finding Standard Mode intense enough as-is. It's not really watered down in any way, and in fact I find the combat challenge and the ammo/resources balance to be really well-balanced (in the same way that, say, the normal mode in REmake 2 is well-balanced). I've only died a couple of times, but I never really feel like I have too many items or resources to get by, the way I would often feel like in the OG version of RE4.
16:36 - The handgun had Kendo's branding on the side in the OG RE4, as well.
44:07 - Something to keep in mind: Yellow Herbs increase your life bar by more if they're combined with a Red Herb mixture. So I only ever use them when I can create the Red+Green+Yellow mix.
as someone who has beaten RE4 on Hardcore and Professional: Capcom was straight up lying on the description for Hardcore 😂 and i've beaten the 2005 version at least 50 times. Hardcore is like 2005's professional on steroids
@@ashistoxic8447 I thought I was the only one thinking that for a sec
@@ashistoxic8447 I just finished the first village fight after dying at least 10 times and being stuck for like 2 weeks lmaao. Everything else has been smooth sailing so far and Im currently at chapter 2... But my God, the village fight was hell. Run and gun is defo the way compared to camping in the original for that part.
This year is crazy good for remakes, I've never seen anything quite like it.
First Dead Space, then Metroid Prime, and now RE4. All within three months.
And they're all beyond incredible.
And FFVII Rebirth is slated for Winter, not sure if it'll hit it but that'll be another great one if it's similar quality to the first.
The levels feel a lot like the original, feels like just another playthrough! So fun.
Thank you, Max, for putting this up so quick I'm powering through. I'll watch when I'm done.
I cant even find words for how Blown away i am by all the Love and the Detail that went into this Game. THANKS Capcom.

Couldnt possibly think of a better duo.
Dude. The U.I. sound effects. The "thump" of opening and closing the briefcase. 10/10
The sound straight up ripped from Half-Life/Counter Strike pickup items sound.
I'm only at the start of Chapter 4 right now but holy crap this game is awesome. I feel like I'm in college playing RE4 for the first time again.
The attention to detail in this game is amazing. I’m glad they made the bats bulletproof; just like in real life
I love how the rats and birds aren't bulletproof but eastern Spaniards bats are built differently 😅
Love that max just had a smile the entire time. I had the exact same thing going on. Ear to ear the whole way through
28:15
Max shoots a Ganado JUST as the church bell rings. That was so good.
I love how the knife is the same one Marvin gave him in RE2
Which is so confusing because since Capcom said Leon B is canon in RE2, that means he never actually meets Marvin while he's still alive.
@@ne0nblaze265 classic Capcom moment, they never follow their own canon
Honestly the 2nd run does feel tacked on. Probably was gonna copy RE approach with two different scenarios instead of four. From what I know the original was Claire A/Leon B. The remake replaces it. I’m sorry OG fans but it’s true. Similar with how REmake replaced the OG RE. I can’t remember where but I read that they did change it to Leon A/ Claire B. The fact that the opening of this one confirms it. Including the knife….which idk kinda wanna break on purpose to Doc. Like I feel story purposes just feels right. Marvin saving him one last time
Nowhere does it stated that the knife was from Marvin. It only stated that it's from RPD which doesn't really mean anything since all the knives you can picked up in RE2 remake were pretty much identical. I hate when people trying to force this stupid headcanon like it's a fact.
It’s not forcing anything. Picking up extra knives was a gameplay mechanic. Just like herbs were away to give health…..herbs that grow in every game that are native to Raccoon City? Getting bit never happens but you gotta die somehow. So gameplay yes story wise? No. Leon’s only wound is from the gunshot. So with the knife, you are given it by Marvin to literally use to immediately to open a door. That’s a fact. Only cutscenes are canon, gameplay is not. Here is an example from the OG RE4. Leon starts with the silver ghost. Now normally on the first play through you still have it come the boss fight with Mendez. So it makes sense when in the cut scene, Leon uses it to shoot the barrel. But what happens when you play the game the second time, whatever handgun you have carries over. So you could have the Blacktail at that point it’ll still show the silver ghost. Hell you could sell it and it would still show up there. So canon wise Leon’s only handgun was the silver ghost. Now you could argue, maybe the shotgun, because he grabs it in the house in the village that triggers a cut scene and the fact it’s fixed. Also a lot of promotional art features it. Cutscenes are always are priority when it comes to canon in games though. The only weapons he uses are the Silver Ghost, Leon’s knife, and Krauser’s Knife to free Ada. That’s it. So it’s obvious it’s Marvin’s knife. They even show Marvin in the intro as someone he failed to help in Raccoon City. Hence his views that being a cop died that day. He feels like he failed his job protecting people, and no, Claire doesn’t count. She basically protected herself. So based on that intro knife came from Marvin someone he failed….Handgun from the other Kendo…who’s brother he failed. Ada is obviously the big one but she’s not dead so. I enjoy they weaved those small details into the lore
The look on Max's face after the village fight is priceless, It's like oh boy this is going to be rough let's go.
I saw that there is a professional difficulty that's going to be brutal.
It is
@@anap1680 just beat professional a few days ago. It made professional in the og re4 feel like standard.
I don't know if Max realizes it later in the playthrough or not, but when you're putting gems into treasures, you can press a button (For Max, it's the X button) and it'll actually bring up a chart that tells you what multiplier bonuses all the different color combinations of gems give you.
Max seems to be thinking that you get the biggest bonus when you have all different colored gems, but actually, that's only true if you have a treasure that can fit five gems. For all other treasures, the biggest multiplier is given when all the gems you put in are the same color.
Got so mad when I eventually find this out on some other stream, right after I already stepped foot in the castle. Wasted so many gems to do 3 color.
Thanks for the info
I'm so glad you upload most of your playthroughs. I'm not from the USA so can't watch your streams due to the time difference. Shine on 👍
Well I can say one thing for sure. Two actually, 1. The remake is absolutely amazing and 2. It gives me comfort to see I'm not the only one stepping on the bear traps without realizing, especially the first one lmao.

Leon Scott Kennedy: I get caught in same bear trap 😁

Anyone else finish playing a game and immediately come to watch Maxs playthrough? Anything FF or RE, can always count on a great watch.
I've played 12 hours on launch day and it's CRAZY how good it is. I've taken a break to watch you play up to the point I ended. so good
Oh and quick tip to save on knife health, if you knock an enemy down and they are about to transform into zombie mode instead of doing the R2 finisher prompt just hold L1 and shank them like the old game.
Villagers doing some horse sh*t mixups with punch and grab like its a fighting game 😂😂
The amount of deaths I've had from getting stun locked at wall or getting punched into a stun mixup death is ridiculous. I guess they figured since Leon can combo enemies off of wall splat, they should have the same capabilites as well
Villagers are op. Capcom plz nerf them.
I'm most of the way through the castle section, and unless the third act goes insanely off the rails (and I have no reason to think it will), this might be an early GOTY contender. I never felt as strongly about RE4 as a lot of folks did, but with this remake: I get it, man. This is a masterpiece.
Watching him kick doors twice and then shooting the lock off made me giggle lol
That and his refusal to disarm bomb wires
1:31:10 that dynamite was amazing.
That's really kinda wholesome that Leon's still using Marvin's knife, if the description is to be taken literally.
Your videos are fantastic man always puts me in a good mood
Max: "First playthrough, we live with the consequences of our actions." This is indeed the way.
Anyone who refuses to save the dog, you have no heart.

Till this day he keeps forgetting that there is a beartrap in that pathway.
I have to thank you Max........
For warning me about that bear trap.
I was pretty surprised when I realised that the ganados can actually get stuck in bear traps too. It's a super neat detail that alleviates one of the many frustrations I had about classic gaming.
You're trying to kill an enemy while avoiding countless hazards, but it just walks right through them like they don't exist, sound familiar?
Making the enemies able to be affected by their own bear traps and trip mines makes for a far more engaging, believable, and cohesive game world and I just really appreciate the attention to detail that is *all over* this game.
all the enemies could get stuck in the bear traps if they stepped in them.
Max has the most severe tunnel vision in games I've ever seen.
But the treasure map to see treasure locations on the map!

Yeah they are actually going full power on making these remakes, no surprise they must have made a fortune with them. A couple of years and we get RE 5 remake i'm sure
They need to remake or reboot dino crisis before remaking that very mediocre, co-op dependent re5.
@@bartholomewgreatpants3425 thank u!..re 5 is mid af smh..
Flash bangs are life savers as well as ammo savers. The moment that recipe becomes available you buy it! Then most of your Large resources go to making them. Instant kill exposed plaga, stun enemies and that stun state gives you access to knife instant kills. Way too versatile to skip.
They have to do something about that facial animation for Leon when he gets his eye’s gouged in. No scream, mouth damn near closed. It just looks jank.
Wish theyd remove it entirely, you don't die from your eyes getting gouged out

Already looking forward to seeing the Randomizer for this game
These intros are amazing, just like a cold open from a TV show before the Dood opening credits 👌
Capcom trapped so many of us veterans of the OG game into picking Hardcore and getting our shit kicked in. Hardcore is definitely not the same thing as the OG and it really shouldn't be chosen first even if you have played the original unless you like pain and suffering.
On my first play through on hardcore I read the description and was like yeah, fair enough I’ll go with this.. I got my shit rocked so hard that I ended with like 40 deaths and I had nearly 0 ammo after the mid point castle-ish area of the game, def agree with you (really thought it wouldn’t be that bad after playing the original at least 10 times, I was wrong)
I knew that bear trap would be the cold open. Love it!
Dude that dynamite death at 1:31 was hilarious 😂

at 1:26:27 leon has learned from Jin and has learned the way of the hellsweep
Can't wait for the "Max steps in all beartraps" compilation.
Luis being an Umbrella researcher makes sense in the remake given that he mentions seeing a sample of the T-virus in a lab in the original game, before it cuts to the ganado executioner entering into the room. Makes me think Capcom intended more for him which was cut, or just to add further to the dubious mystery around his character.

I think my favorite part of Leon being Leon and just saying silly things is in let’s say Uncharted, it’s a tongue in cheek action movie, this is supposed to be a horror game, and Leon still over there making one liners.
It's more so supposed to be an action game that's in horror settings. That's why it's got so fluid and responsive combat on top of all the one liners and crazy dialogue
I love Max reaction when he heard the dog whining 😂
I got caught in a Bear Trap, hit with a molotov while trapped, ran away to heal, and ran right into a trip wire mine, and died on assisted 😂. 10/10 GOTY.
I really love the difficulty options they give you. Like for me I've never played RE4 I've only watched max play it so standard is perfect levels of difficulty for me, but hard-core seems great for veterans of the game.
It was such a smart game design choice to add defensive options with the knife, while also making it harder to stun enemies. Reloading is much more tense in this version.
It has to be said. They nailed this remake.
Now they need to remake CV and 5 but please let the team RE2remake and RE4remake work on those.
This game is amazing... The moment where Saddler is talking to them and they can hear it I was like wow this game is special... The combat is just so fucking fun... I'm gonna cry its so good
This game looks awesme. I just wish that RE3 would have gotten the same amount of love as all the other remakes. T_T
Bro I think about that all the time. How Resident Evil 2 Remake was a masterpiece despite the second half of the game was the same even on Scenario B (excluding the final Birkin fight) and currently playing this one being almost an exact copy of the original with just enough changes and twists to keep you on your toes and at the edge of your seat then you have Re3 Remake that was fun as HELL the first and second time through then it started to feel empty when you actually realize how much content was cut and how short it was.
@@thatguythatdied 100%! Re3 Remake is not a bad game, but it definitely feels like a rushed product. It could have been just as amazing as the rest of them. But it simply wasn't given enough time or job. Which is a real shame.

Wow. This is RE2 and FF7 REMAKES levels of incredible! Capcom did it again…

Traditionally, I watch Max's whole playthrough before deciding to buy RE games, but he looks to be having too much fun that I had to get the game asap 😸 Now, I'm going to 100% this, and more until SF6 arrives
I loved how they tried to integrate the Duke into the story of Village but having this almost abstract merchant in 4 is quite iconic too. Leon does not seem to mind this teleporting dude ^^
Dropped by to leave the Like, but this is one series of videos I'll only actually be watching later. This is one game I absolutely want to experience for myself.
Probably the coolest thing was the fact that they Could destroy the bridge when u were on it. I learned that the hard way
I learned it in the most annoying way possible. I had killed every enemy, and had just finished searching the area. Heading back, I decided to take the bridge because it would've obviously been faster than going around. It broke while I was on it, so I died and had to do the whole fight over again lmao
Another masterpiece from capcom 🎉

@@Darzeal It's 20 gift subs for every bear trap he steps on.
I was overjoyed when I heard the dog whimpering. Not saying I enjoy hearing dogs in pain, but realizing the dog was alive, it had me smiling. I saved him, he saved me, and we became best friends. We even got tacos :3
I was ready to knock the game down a peg for killing the dog. But when I heard that whimper, I paused, gasped, then eventually cheered. Best boi is back~
That village fight at the start was some real shit.
It was very cinematic. Lots of close calls, quick decisions, and fluid action.
