    01 kx 125. Locked up in third. Didn't have a bog or flutter of air. Possible lock up in cylinder? Deff didt hole the piston. Kicker is stuck

    • @quickshiftoutdoors
      @quickshiftoutdoors  Рік тому

      Sounds like it seized up to me. Are you able to shift through the gears ? If you can get it in neutral then piston probably seized up. Easy enough to find out by removing the head and cylinder

      Cause I holed a 89 kx 125 in 5th wide open an it just fluttered while coasting to a stop

    Just bought my first dirt bike (same as yours) and after this video I get it 100% good job nice video. I've done a dozen water pumps and everything you can name on classic V8 vans but it's still intimidating working on a new machine. Now I'm not intimidated by it!

      top end rebuilds are a peace of cake ,just b careful w the segments and dont mess up the correct direction of the piston , greetings, a fellow noob mechanic :p

    Lmao if you can’t take plastics, seat, and a gas tank you should be doing a top end anyway😂😂

    Do you have to take the radiators off or is it just easier to have them off

    • @quickshiftoutdoors
      @quickshiftoutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      I don't believe you have to take them off, you should be able to take out the cylinder without removing them. However it's only 4 bolts and a couple hose clamps and they come right off. Figure for the extra 3 minutes work it's worth the piece of mind not smashing in the fins lol.

    do you need to rebuild if engine on kx125 89 still starts and run but it had cut off while i was riding in first gear and it had bad oil leakin on back tire and brake disc alot of oil on it and it stop had leakin it sounds dry when i start it any thoughts about what can be the problem besides oil leak or its jus oil leak it rode untill the oil finally finsished leakin but it starts and run .

    • @quickshiftoutdoors
      @quickshiftoutdoors  3 роки тому

      If oil is on back tire and brake then it is more then likely coming from your silencer. 2 stroke silencers need to be repacked every so often. You can get 2 stroke muffler repacking from most motorsports stores. Also if oil is extremely excessive its possible you have crank seals that are blown and sucking in oil from the gearbox.

    How much do these top end rebuilds cost because I just found a 2000 kx125 for 900 dollars that needs a top end rebuild

    • @quickshiftoutdoors
      @quickshiftoutdoors  3 роки тому

      Price depends on if you need a replated cylinder or not. A basic too end kit with piston, rings,gaskets will run prob around 200 or less for 125. Your looking at least 250+ for a replated cylinder if its needed

    I have this exact bike and wanted to send my cylinder in, but the us nicrome website says they only offer service to dealers now. Do you have another quality company you recommend for me to send my cylinder off to? Or someone that would exchange this cylinder core for a new plated one?
    Thanks

    How much of a difference is there between a 90 kx 125 and this year? I know the valves are a bit different but can anyone tell me what else

      Plastics, frame, pretty sure forks, airbox and carbs are all different.

      @quickshiftoutdoors  7 років тому +1

      I will definitely work on the focus. I'm working with a new camera and I'm still trying to figure it out. As far as the KIPS valve what year kawasaki would you be working on ? This bike would be 1999-2002 kx 125. Before 99 they were a different design and after 02 they changed again.

    • @richardhyde6418
      @richardhyde6418 7 років тому

      Ours is an 03......Well certainly frame......who knows what engine to be honest......I'm assuming its the original but with used bikes who ever knows. Got a lot of black oil coming out the breather and muffler. So will clean the KIPS and update the piston etc while in there.

    • @quickshiftoutdoors

      Before throwing money at it I would verify that you have spark, fuel and compression. If you have all 3 it will fire. I'm gunna say you lost one of those 3 things

    • @quickshiftoutdoors
      @quickshiftoutdoors  5 років тому

      Make sure you have all cylinder base nuts removed. Some manufacturers hide a nut in the power valve cutout. If all nuts are off lightly tap with a rubber mallet and it should pop right off

    Hello , sorry to bother , but , I was wondering , does the xk 125 have 2 radiators , standard ?Doing some modifications on my 99 kx , if anyone happens to know a thing or 2 abt kx s ... , how to get it to full power , carburetor ?read 38mm pkw carbs are great for kx125cc

    • @quickshiftoutdoors
      @quickshiftoutdoors  5 років тому +2

      My 02 has 2 radiators so I'm pretty sure your 99 was 2 standard as well. As far as carb goes I've heard same thing with that one and you shouldn't have a problem with it just jet it properly.

    • @TheBosbeest
      @TheBosbeest 5 років тому

      probably not the standard fuel tank on my 99 , doesn't look like there s room for a radiator on the right side , thank u :)@@quickshiftoutdoors

      @@TheBosbeest just checked the parts diagrams. For the model year 1999 the KX60, KX80,KX100 all had 1 radiator. The Kx125, KX250, and the KX500 all have 2 radiators stock.

      thx , I guess I have a kmx 125 B from 99 , seems they're different then the kx's , I think I found everything it needs to get back into good shape , trying to figure stuff out on the how to s , think I know pretty much everything to get it running like it should , instead of 20 kicks to get it sputtering into life slowly from cold start , take s 30 seconds , to get in rpms like a diesel , jetting ll be needed , rest no idea , thanks again for your response ,youtube s very helpful for mechanic noobs like myself, happy riding and be safe ,thx again @@quickshiftoutdoors
