    We are now doing weekly aerial flyovers depending on the support that we get. Our cost range from pilot fees to rental fees of the Cessna 172 that is used for the flyovers over the sites.

    Thank you for the Scottish voice-overs! It's comforting, reminds me of one of my nannas. I could fall asleep listening to her, knowing everything was right in the world. Up to a point, anyway. 😆

    If SpaceX hasn't publicized the test parameters, how do you know if the test was a failure? Maybe the minimal load was all they were testing.

      Because they wouldn't evacuate the entire village and build site for just a partial load test, these 2 attempts were intended to be full wet dress rehearsals and they were aborted.

    so the general consensus is that the exhaust from static fires will now be directed in Mexico's direction?

    • @michaeldeierhoi4096

      The Mexican border is miles from Starbase so what's your point??

    • @JonathanSchrock
      @JonathanSchrock 2 місяці тому +2

      @@michaeldeierhoi4096The new static fire pad is being installed at the Massey's test site, and the end of the flame trench is less than 200m from the Mexican river bank. I was quite certain it would face away from Mexico, but that seems not to be the case. Perhaps the flames will be diverted primarily upward.

    • @michaeldeierhoi4096
      @michaeldeierhoi4096 2 місяці тому

      @@JonathanSchrock 200 m seems to be a bit short of the mark. I have looked at the area on Google maps and have visited the area twice though not Massey specially.

    • @julianfp1952
      @julianfp1952 2 місяці тому

      @@michaeldeierhoi4096Jonathan is if anything exaggerating the distance. Massey’s is literally on the Rio Grande - someone working at Massey’s could step straight off the Massey’s site directly into the Rio Grande and the Mexican border runs down the centre line of the river so technically the boundary of the Massey’s site is more like 100 metres from the Mexican border with direct line of sight across to Mexico.
      Maybe pointing at the border isn’t too much of an issue if the outlet end of the trench were to also have some upward curvature so that the exhaust exiting the trench is maybe heading 45 degrees upwards towards the vertical rather than at a more shallow horizontal direction more directly towards the Mexican border. An additional mitigation step might be for SpaceX to (if possible) buy or lease the parcel of land in Mexico directly opposite the flame trench simply to securely fence it off and put a load of “danger - no entry” signs all over the place. It doesn’t look from the satellite images as if that land on the Mexican side is used at all.

      Don't worry - site is patrolled/monitored. Agree the launch site has been vulnerable to sabateurs that could cause delay - all 'time' is prescious and any lost time is valuable and hard to make up.

    Something to consider about 4:30, could SpaceX be considering a cylindrical mechazilla instead of the current design? Something for catching boosters and ships in different wind or reentry angles...?

    • @drtaru

      Catching the boosters has been scrapped, it was never gonna work. the stubby arms at the tower in florida are proof.

    • @monkeyboy4746

      @johnrday2023 2 місяці тому +1

      Don't be silly - Elon's time is prescious ! But surely RGV could regularly talk to a Spacex PR type person to obtain some key construction info/data😂, instead of ameteur 'guessing' comments that are not really valid. But I think we can all appreciate these (even if somewhat ameteurish) up-to-date regular weekly vids instead of professional cnn network type crap! Keep going/& improving - you are great!

      My point is, sadly, he(the channel owner) have not that much (of) material to make video much better. He needs selection and concentration, and in his case, it is more likely better to concentrate on the quality and quantity of information, rather than easy-to-understand labor-intensive editing. I know what he wants and I kinda also want that also, but you know, if every demand put in, the quality of video would messed up.
