the offensive ice block at the end to apply pressure on Hozi was fucking perfect. that aint a blunder at all, that was asserting dominance and taking the upper hand
That mage was also insanely good. Like ziqo/xar level good. Not many mages in the game could have pulled off that. Lots of arm chair twitchful glads will say it was nothing but to play PERFECT and outplay for 20min straight is insane.
This perfectly illustrates what is possible at the top 1%. I'm pushing 50 (I was mid-20s when Vanilla came out), and all I can do is watch this in awe. There were a couple of times where I knew what was coming, but for the most part, I just had to watch and wonder with my mouth wide open. Wow, I've played a rogue before (never that well), but I've never taken a mage to max level. I think I will!
That was an amazing duel. Hozito needed to hard reset after that last blind but of course it's hard to play that disciplined, especially when streaming. GGs
This is not a mage favored duel. I remember Xar called it a 50-50 duel back in classic., and that was even when the duels were normal and pots weren't allowed. The fact that people can use fap on a two-minute cooldown definitely makes the duel rogue favored. The mage simply outplayed hozi in this duel.
That was one of the worst "decked" rogues I have ever seen, full of resistance pots, and still lost that. The mage basically beat him 4 times in a row if it weren't for the OP resistances.
I'm happy to see hozi die. If you wanna get ears from the other faction through mok'goras, awesome. But he was actually baiting members of his own faction, and that is pretty shitty.
How to always catch a rogue vanish: macro a mouseover rank 1 blizzard > when casting spells spam this macro directly over them. If they vanish you will immediately cast blizzard and catch them. How to win rogue vs mage: get improved sprint to counter nova/slows
IMO this is a rogue-favored duel. For one, FAP is more effective for a rogue than any potion is for a mage. Second, mage has no ice barrier yet, but rogue has pretty much all his major pvp tools already at this level.
No IB, but rogue (with prep) is lacking a lot of burst damage as well in 30% critdmg and cold blood. I think rogue v mage at the 35 bracket is still favored because of how powerful magic resist potion is early on, as well as hozito's ability to bandage to nearly full Crazy duel
It's mage favored for sure as you saw here. Poly trumps fap. They both played really well, the mage hit the better rng though and poly is the most broken spell in the game. Rank 1 frostbolt isn't far off.
@@Lloocii Poly only beats FAP if they use it far enough away. If the rogue is on top of the mage when using the FAP, you're NOT getting a poly off on a rogue. And if a rogue is dying to r1 frostbolt, that means he blew all his CD's already, and he's gonna die to the mage whether they use r1 frostbolts or not at that point.

@@Lloocii When a mage blinks (the only way they're gonna get away when they have crippling poison on them), you have to use a CD. If they blink, you sprint to them and interrupt their sheep. The mage uses their CD's defensively and as a reaction to what the rogue uses. But at lvl 34-35, the mage does not have Ice Barrier yet, and this gives rogues the advantage at this level. No Ice Barrier means that if the rogue uses his CD's right, he should win. Hozi lost here because he didn't use his CD's offensively (probably too used to playing Priest). He should've sprinted after that first mage Blink (or even a Vanish+Sprint if the mage already used frost nova) to KS the mage sooner and more uptime before Blink comes back. This is without pointing out Hozi's actual mistakes in the duel as well. At 60, it's also rogue favored. You just can't deal with a rogue that knows how to keep up a momentum with imp sprint x2, vanish x2, blind x2, and that's just regular toolkit. Factor in spider belt, faps and whatnot, and rogue just can't lose. They will never sit a nova. But in a 6+ minute long duel with all cooldowns available and with multiple FAPs this is not a mage favored duel anymore. With all tools, potions, engi items, and consumables at your expense rogues are the king of 1v1 dueling, this has been well known for classic era for a while (world of roguecraft?), and although vanilla WoW is very rock paper scissors rogues have the most amount of winnable matchups over other classes and builds (SL locks are strong 1v1 too). There are several things hozito could have done to essentially guarantee a victory and he missed them. One gouged blink at the beginning at 0:20 -ish would have forced an early ice block burn, potentially allowing that death ray to connect afterward. Rocket helm at the end there when the mage was wanding with ice block down, low hp, and no mana and it would have been over for the mage. That being said the mage played really really well and against probably 99% of other mages hozito would likely have bodied them. My main back in vanilla was a rogue and I still remember how hard it was to win a duel against a mage in low level. You have to play it so perfectly ... and often that isn't enough. It's all depending on the mage, if he plays flawless there isn't really much you can do.
@commanderpp with the proper trinkets, pots, talents, and excellent rogue play, it's a 50/50. All a mage has to do is show up, though. So, no, an average rogue vs an average mage is not a 50/50. Not even close.

That is why he had level 1 just to keep slowing up on him not for the damage
With health regen pot and resi pot the rogue took almost no damage from it, while mage was slowly running oom, reseting his mp5 counter, and it basically allow the rogue to stall for cds.
But if you are going that route... then no 100% crit if mages dare to go for a drink ? Goes both ways.
did rouge actually made a mistake by not waiting 2-3 minutes more for vanish to come off cd ?
Of course but it's very lame to wait that long so it's fair play from him to not wait.
@@RaimaNdlame or death, choose one
@@RaimaNd it is more lame to die at lvl 35
My main back in vanilla was a rogue and I still remember how hard it was to win a duel against a mage in low level. You have to play it so perfectly ... and often that isn't enough. It's all depending on the mage, if he plays flawless there isn't really much you can do.
Rogue tears. So tasty. Not even a main of either class
@commanderpp with the proper trinkets, pots, talents, and excellent rogue play, it's a 50/50. All a mage has to do is show up, though. So, no, an average rogue vs an average mage is not a 50/50. Not even close.
Another Makgora, another mage win.
Why didn't he go for a full reset when he was able to get into stealth instead of charging in like that right away. Mage made the right call on that blizzard putting it in front of where the rogue was
At some point the fun/entertainment factor has to weigh in. Was a 30 min duel already. :P
Probably not going to watch someone who lets his own chat bait him into salt
Great duel, great plays
DAMN!
Too bad cdew wasn’t there to carry hozi like he did in BC to get rank 1
Dude with all those pots etc u can use its not mage favor duel.
if this is the "best makgora" lil bro is not watching ziqo
The cheese makgora was more of a laugh, everyone else he's just blasted to death
Does the loser perma death?
Yes
he ruined it making excuses at the end
Rogues win with gear, until BIS wizards win.
I've watched some of Hozis shit and the dude was a douche with his gear swapping. "Do you know how much time I spent in this character?" Don't care son. It's gone now. I never root for the mage.
