For every specialty coffee connaisseur SUBSTANCE is a must go. This place and the owners are fantastic and fully dedicated to give you an incredible experience. Higher prices are not an excuse to skip it, i'd rather have an unforgettable 10€ cup than 4 or 5 average ones.
Great selection. Substance café is my favorite in the city (no surprise they won the Sprudge award of the best new coffee shop of the world) and I visit it as often as I can. Next time you also could add two awesome places to your visit: Terres de café and L’arbe à café.
Thank you, Frederic. We planned to visit more cafes (including two you mentioned) but filming takes a little longer than a regular visit. Anyway, we had a good time in Paris!

Hi guys! I've been looking forward to this video since we met at Back in Black. Great review!
I love your cafe introductions so much! Visiting different cafes is a huge hobby of mine as well. How many cups of coffee did you have for that day though!
Thank you. It’s a good question - it was one day, we split it across multiple days because of other activities in Paris. I would say we didn’t go over 5-6 cups ☕️😅
Lomi by faaaaar the best coffee in Paris. Classic coffees in a great roast. You know you will get bored of all these funky coffees that some other cafes serve and they overflow in the competitions.
Unfortunately, La Fontaine must be unequivocally struck from this list. It was sold in 2021 and the new operators are NOT coffee people at all. I went there yesterday, on my first visit to Paris, and the flat white I was served was in a glass cup and had more than two full inches of thick foam. Telescope, however, was a true delight, and absolutely worth visiting. Fringe is another, serving up one of the most delicious V60s I’ve ever had. Paris does have some superb specialty coffee cafes, but La Fontaine is absolutely NOT one of them any more.
Substance was incredible. Not your typical prices, but also not your typical cafe! A true *experience* cafe, run by one of the most passionate, knowledgeable and friendly coffee experts you’ll find anywhere. Even as a first-time visitor to Paris, seeing so many famed sights for the first time, my visit to Substance still stands as one of the highlights and a true delight. Back in Black was also superb, as was Fringe. Looking forward to returning to these places, and getting to some of those I missed.
FanFan not too sure, but I’m guessing it’s some sort of pre-tamper to equally distribute the coffee all the way through rather than just smooth it out on the top
FanFan it’s a irrigation tool, it’s not intended to distribute in space but in time. The extraction will be better, the first drop won’t be underextract and the last won’t be overextract. The tool creates 95 channels, but your channels. The coffee will be more sweet and acidic, less sour and less bitter. The hog allows the terroir to better express itself in the cup.
@@joachimmorceau4272 Thx! I had the same ideea, but you explained far better. Do you know more about the tool, since you know there's 95 channels? It's something diy or it's actually on sale somewhere? Also, the channels are made by needles or by blades, so i know their shape.
I went to Lomi after seeing your video (I moved to the 18th not long ago and I’m literally a 4-minute walk from there), amazing place but now I’m worried about spending way too much money there 😅
Hey Guys, great work! Why don't you drop by just behind the corner to Krakow Poland? I'm sure you'll be more than welcome in Karma roastery, all the Tekturas, Coffee Proficiency, Blossom, Knitted Coffee and so many many more. I've just listed my favourite ones ☺️
Man! I'm super impressed by this video. Every time I go to Paris, I get disappointed by the terrible coffee scene and the lack of good places to have a proper hot beverage; but somehow you managed to show 3 places I don't know (my wife and I like to stroll around good coffee shops). Great video guys! May I suggest a small trip to Lyon? (my city) There are some really good torréfacteurs (Mokxa, Bongo, Loutsa) and coffee shops (Puzzle, Extrait, La Boîte, Diploid) too

We are a coffee shop in Brazil, and we use this kinda of videos to seek references on how to improve specialty coffee service, quality, etc
Be proud that you also grow your own coffee in Brazil!
what a nice reason to visit Paris.

No one: let‘s not drink coffee today.
Normal people: 1-2 coffees
ECT: let’s have a caffeine heart attack
😂😂😂
This nearly happened to me when I had my coffee trip in Amsterdam xD

Wow substance cafe looks so interesting. Would love to try coffee chosen and made by a barista champion
Thanks, guys! Have a nice trip! What city is next?
We plan to make a video from Vienna and Warsaw in the near future!

I wish Coutume cafe made the list!
You are right! It was the original plan but we had to adjust due to lack of time. As we said in the video, we wish to feature many more places.

Cheers! We hope to make a video later this year but let’s see. We are definitely going to film in Warsaw next month.
Good content, Im coming there to shoot the best coffee shops
I will also suggest Beans On Fire in 75011 (metro St Ambrose)
Next time come to Malongo coffee ;)
Good old times, before ...
When are you going to do London’s Coffee Guide ?
07:30 6€ for a cappuccino? what the hell is that place?
Nice video regardless. When are you doing London?
Very special place, very special coffees!
Prices In Paris, 🤷♂️
Not really but if you watched the video and saw coffees that Joachim served, you understand the price!

Monsieuer quoi-portes tu- au backpack lourde?
Wow! Those prices though! No wonder the cafe is empty
feel more than you recommend the great coffe
My God how perfectly American to have a beautiful video of Parisian cafes be interrupted repeatedly by scam make money quick ads. MURICA!!!!
Fellas in paris eating coffee
One of the best meals I had in Paris was actually on first class in Eurostar lol
Love your video but it was very hard to understand your English.
The title should be “top 5 hipster cafe’s in Paris”. Not a good overview of the best cafe’s in Paris.
You missed La Cafeotheque..
