dokterkarel Most ford engines are very reliable, the problem is in everything else, problems with rust, fragile and uncomfortable suspension, and in the case of fiestas, the old Endura unit consumes a lot of fuel with a ridiculous performance,maybe I'm saying this because I had four bad experiences with these euro fords (Escort,Ka,Fiesta and Mondeo)
The C20NE is a tough little engine. I had one myself some years ago. Sadly, the rust was the one who killed the car, as well as my two other cars wich both had the C16XE engines.
I'm laughing at all these comments saying it's a waste of an engine when this is just a worthless Opel ready for scrap and recycling. Just think of this as a Viking burial going out in smoke and flames as one last celebration of the life of the car.

Holden GM C20NE prof again that is one of the best engine built last years, sad to see that way if demolition.. poor brains if you there just doing your work, sure that owner of this shrot receive the ticket about oil on the ground, regards, cold Russia.
Z12XE is pretty good too, i have one running for 15 years with no mechanical issue at all (except for a worn timing side crankshaft seal). Some say that the timing chain and tappets are pretty loud on these engines, but the key is finding the proper oil. Don't want to sound like i'm advertising an oil so i'll just say that just try a German vollsynthetische (full synth, that is not the average HC synth crap) oil on a Z10-Z12-Z14-Z16-Z18 type engine (i'm using 5W-40 but you should probably look for a 0W-40 or 0W-30 in your country), and you'll notice a great difference in engine sound.
