  • Ultimate LEGO stress-test !
    In this video we are crushing different kinds of LEGO constructions and see how much pressure they can handle before they collapse.
    Who can tell us in the comments how many tons it required to press each type of setup.
    edit : It turns out that each piece can hold up to about 900kg before they collapse. You can see that in the 50 piece video, and the 104 piece video.

    You should try heating up or partially melting the legos in a solid circle shape and then crushing another layer around the edges. Hopefully it would fuse the legos together and make a sort of plate. Just thought that would be pretty cool, having a multi-color lego plate.

    Wallpaper is a kind of material used to cover and decorate the interior walls of homes, offices, cafes, government buildings, museums, post offices, and other buildings; it is one aspect of interior decoration. It is usually sold in rolls and is put onto a wall using wallpaper paste. Wallpapers can come plain as "lining paper" (so that it can be painted or used to help cover uneven surfaces and minor wall defects thus giving a better surface), textured (such as Anaglypta), with a regular repeating pattern design, or, much less commonly today, with a single non-repeating large design carried over a set of sheets.
    Wallpaper printing techniques include surface printing, gravure printing, silk screen-printing, rotary printing, and digital printing. Wallpaper is made in long rolls, which are hung vertically on a wall. Patterned wallpapers are designed so that the pattern "repeats", and thus pieces cut from the same roll can be hung next to each other so as to continue the pattern without it being easy to see where the join between two pieces occurs. In the case of large complex patterns of images this is normally achieved by starting the second piece halfway into the length of the repeat, so that if the pattern going down the roll repeats after 24 inches the next piece sideways is cut from the roll to begin 12 inches down the pattern from the first. The number of times the pattern repeats horizontally across a roll does not matter for this purpose.[1] A single pattern can be issued in several different colorways.

    I like how the 104 bricks were almost enough to resist the press. Fun fact: This is the same amount of force that was used to make the pieces in the first place.

    So, it actually takes quite a few tonnes to crush these things, you could make a real building out of them.

    • @matthewbilik9549
      @matthewbilik9549 8 років тому

      Many homes have been built out of lego. There is even a lego tower which is a couple of stories tall. It's pretty cool.

    • @chocolatemilk679
      @chocolatemilk679 8 років тому

      RAGNARTHEVIKING9595 well i mean, its just that the pressure gets distributed around when you have that many flat things on a flat surface get crushed by a flat ceiling.
      the 1st clip where the lego is by itself best represents the strength of a lego under pressure, and its not that strong.

    • @professorracc.9780
      @professorracc.9780 8 років тому

      Chocolate Milk no, It took 4-5 tonnes to crush just one piece. Watch the gauge and keep in mind one bar is 4 tonnes.

    • @chocolatemilk679
      @chocolatemilk679 8 років тому

      RAGNARTHEVIKING9595 I dont know how you can disagree with me on anything i said. Literally re-read what i posted. I never said anything about the number of tonnes it takes to crush a lego piece. So you cant tell me "no", because that literally doesnt make any sense. If youre disagreeing with me in saying that you think a Lego piece is strong, then you are just plain wrong.
      The reason we dont build with legos is because they are structurally sound, ESPECIALLY in comparison to stronger materials like metal, cement, and wood. The lego tower that Matt Bilik mentions is really cool, but its a completely solid (not hollow) Lego tower that is held up by support beams (more like cords, but i guess it doesnt matter in the sake of this argument.). Point is, you cant go inside it, and there will be no way anybody is building anything on a large scale with legos that you can go inside, because its not a structurally sound building material. It is weak under pressure in comparison to steel and cement, and maybe even weaker than wood too.
      with that said, there are some hollow lego towers out there, probably because it would be quicker to just build a shell than a full tower, but it has external support to keep it upright

    Instead of destroying toys, you could give them to those who need it. Or donate them, so that the children play with them, instead of destroying them.
