Yes absolutely. Both the desperate passion with which he sings it as well as the meaning behind it hit me hard. The idea that you could do literally everything this life has to offer, big and small, and travel everywhere, see everything, know everything and it still would leave you just as terrifyingly alone and hollow.
I watched a documentary last night about Dennis Rodman the basketball player. He had all the money, all the women, and all the pleasures that this life could afford him but yet when you looked at his countenance he was still empty, sad and lonely...This world's pleasures are never enough!

Wow! Amazing video and amazing song. Been there and I understand every lyric. It wasn't enough. Nothing satisfied me. No feeling of power, no career, no family, no alcohol, no sex, no high, nothing! Not until I found Jesus Christ. All my life I literally didn't know who Jesus was because I never read any of the gospels or the Bible. Only Psalm 23. But when it talked about God, I didn't know who He was either, let alone His son Jesus. For 22 yrs I wondered the earth void, worshipping others, even myself. I was tired and messed up in my heart, mind, and soul. I was a very wicked person who loved doing harm to others. Very angry since childhood. But when I met the Lord, I literally heard His voice say, "I have been waiting for you, Marinel", when I stepped in the temple. The service had not even started yet and I wondered who was talking to me in my head. His voice is loud with authority but gentle and kind at the same time. I love Him so much. He completely changed my life around. I have my ups and downs and still needed healing of the mind up til just a few months ago. He healed me. Still have my fights but not like before. God is mighty and very powerful and loving. He cares about you so much. Give your life to Him cause you will not regret the reward at the end, trust me. God bless you all for making these videos.

The more I think about it, the more I see that this is a completely realistic depiction of what being in sin is like. It just feels like you’re endlessly wandering, looking for something you can’t have, and the more you look, the more angry and desperate you get because you’re literally selling your soul for pleasure, and what you’re getting isn’t pleasing enough. The world can’t give you the extent of the sin you want, so you look for more, and the more you look, the less satisfying it all is…until you just break and realize that now nothing pleases you, and you feel on your own in the middle of a vast desert, lured by the temptations and deceptions of Satan that you know you can’t be filled by.
And then you drown under the weight of your own sin. Clutching desperately at more sin to save you from despair only to find your pleas fall on the deaf ears of the false gods you created.
Every time I watch this for the last 9 years I can’t get over it. The imagery of what idolatry really does to us and our need for Jesus grips me every time. He is using this as well as that song to set people free 😭❤️
This is very personal to me .. Gosh i hate myself for having still the desire of this world even when i fully know it wont satisfy me

You made the idols look suitably dark and creepy, and the despair of the man that follows them very real, to the point that I identified with it when I looked back to my life before Jesus and saw myself walking through desert with a broken, gushing heart. Praise the Lord I was brought to the cross!

I can relate, this is what depression feels like. That's why you can't feel anything, no matter what you can fight to get, is never enough. You keep trying to fill your empitness hole, but you just cant get satisfied, that's when you lose interest in living. Nothing can replace, God. That's the proof God is real, and our spirits cry for him, even an atheist can relate it. Jesus loves you all ❤

Before Jesus saved me, I would describe to therapists that it was like I had a big empty hole inside me. I tried to fill it with so many things, but still it was gaping and throbbing and painful. Now I'm born again, and I can barely remember what that felt like.

That was one of the most poignant scene for me when I was storyboarding this animation. I'm thankful to hear that it was moving for you....I do think it is a powerful depiction of the hopelessness of idolatry and the heartlessness of the idols...
