Missed the Live as I was doing a Shoot. Would have been super to have seen this video before that Shoot for some great inspiration. Still there is always next time ! It is nice to see Chloe becoming more at ease with the team over the various shoots. Thanks to all for super video
Hi Deborah. Sam makes the occasional cameo in the videos. On the live streams she has way to much going on with the super switcher to come and help me 😢
A great video Gavin and Sam. your the Paul Daniels and Debbie Magee of the Adorama world !! Chloe looks amazing as always that fabric is a neat idea and I love the wooden floor on the pallet makes great sense.
Great wafting shots - how many talents does Sam have🙃 Chloe always seems so cheery 🙂 Seriously though, this was a really interesting shoot, which resulted in some lovely shots.
That video was a lot of fun. You bring in some great models Gavin. They always lookike they're having a blast! *takes out leaf blower and new fog machine* This should be fun.
Another fantastic video, Gavin! Thank you! Would it be possible for you to share that studio wall overlay/image like you've done with other assets on your website? It would be awesome to have it in my toolkit!!
Hi Andrew. The lighting diagrams have evolved over the last 10 years working with Adorama. Sadly that means they're a right mess but are also totally logical to me 😉
7:11 Side view of wood pallet "stage" - likely hand built - not expensive (maybe even made out of free stuff) but very bulky and heavy! Guessing the creation of this from raw materials also required staining and a protective coating.
Hi Gavin, great video again. One short question besides blowing and breezing: How do you tether to your small screen? Is it an ipad or just a monitor? Do you send the full resolution on it or transfer only a small jpeg's? I'm impressed how quickly your images show up there...
Great video, Gavin. Great job by all involved. I have one question. For the first shots with the foam core board the shutter speed was 1/2000. Did you use HSS for the flash? Thanks in advance.
HI Robert. For the shallow DOF look I was after I needed a wide f/1.4 aperture. HSS flash was used with the fast shutter speed to keep all of the ambient light out of my photo.
@@GavinHoey Thanks for the reply. I figured so for that aperture but I didn’t think it was mentioned. Just checking my memory. Of course this video was about the blown hair creative technique rather than a lighting one so I understand why you didn’t go over those particulars. Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s Day to Sam (USA Mother’s Day is this Sunday)
Although I like doing this with the foam core board, I tend to avoid fans, and worse yet leaf blowers, because they are over kill and could cause dust/debris to get into the eyes of the model. I think the foam core method is much safer and works well for me.
That'll be my Lenovo Miix 2 in 1 Laptop / Tablet. It's rather old by computer standards and discontinued but a Microsoft Surface is the same idea but far more powerful.
Hi Alyssa. I'm using Face detection AF (the big square) with the optional eye detect AF also on. It's become an increasing common feature on new cameras and has gone from an interesting gimmick to an absolutely essential tool for my portrait photography.
@@GavinHoey Thank you Gavin for taking the time to message me back. So I have the Canon R5. I feel like im having issues with both being applied at the same time. I have for the back focus to be able to toggle through all the focus settings. While the button next to the shutter the m-nf to turn on Eye detection as well as next to the LCD screen the AF-on. But i feel as if i get the square around the face but then all though blue boxes in there and some times around the eye not always. Do you have a video that you have or recommend to watch to make sure i have it set up right? Any tips would be amazing! Thank you Gavin!
Love the organza fabric shots Gavin and Chloe!
Great to see Chole again and great video and tips Thanks all
That was dope. T.Y. Gavin Hoey & crew @adorama.

As usual, Chloe is so amazingly beautiful. Gavin this is a great idea. Lol
I love your videos! Very concise and practical, and helpful for me as my studio is tiny. I really love the shots!
Gavin makes this look a breeze!
I just pressed the shutter, Sam was mostly in control of the breeze 😉
Awesome Gavin!
Você é demais!! Ótimo fotógrafo. Obrigado por compartilhar.
Great video Gavin Hoey, yes a slight movement of the hair or fabric adds on so much interesting to a portrait or image!
Thanks Alexander 👍

Excellent and times-less advice (I say from May 2022).
Again , well put together video, thanks!. Looks like fun for all involved.
How fun! I especially liked adding the texture at the end. I was wondering how to do that.
No offence to anyone else but Gavin and Pye make this channel 😎

@@jasonbourne8181 everyone is very good though 🙂 I just prefer Gavin 😂 he makes it look simple
Adorama TV is awash with talent, so that's really appreciated David 👍

Thanks Pat. The palette floor was a great idea but unbelievably heavy!
I'm a big FAN of these types of tutorials lol. Corny I know but somebody had to say it 😃. Awesome as always Gavin 👍
Corny but brilliant 😁

Chloe is just a joy to be around 😁
Soo good but I’m wondering how he got the tethering set up
Just loooove the final shot and what you did with the background! Well done 🤩
Thanks Sanni. Sometimes I do love a bit of texture 😁
@@GavinHoey Me to 😁
Always good!
Thanks Robbie
Moving air can also make your models eyes water so that’s something to be mindful of too.

@@GavinHoey I know I'm certainly enjoying them! You definitely seem like you're enjoying yourself during them too!
@@brad_in_yyc I always think viewers would quickly tell if I'm not enjoying a shoot!
Excellent, Gavin! Fun results, and the motion adds a lot to the feel. :)
Hi Mike. Yep, take away the motion and what you have are solid lighting looks and not much more!
Love the editing examples! I plan on a shoot like this with the light & motion reflex s lights that shoot at 20fps.
I'm super glad this helped Curt 👍

great video! can you tell me about that tablet youre using to tether your camera, would love to do that for my clients. thanks!
Great video! Brilliantly described as always by Gavin, where did the nasty looking old fan come from though :)
I think the fan might be older then Chloe but it (mostly) works 😁
